This is NOT a tutorial, although I'm planning to write one, if you're interested. Just ask.

 

You already know my character Cornelia. To add some background, I'll tell you that she's a Warrior by birthsign, Knight by class, fighters guild Apprentice and, most importantly, the faithful companion that for many years has been facing the dangers of Tamriel by my side. Just recently I took the habit of using Cornelia as player character.

 

It's been a pleasure following in her footsteps (and in the meanwhile, staring at her nice, firm butt)...
forgive a dirty old man who lives in its fantasies.

 

Kendo2, are you listening? I have already addressed to you my apologies for the 'incident', both in the public forum and by PM... Honestly, I can't do more than this. It would be nice to hear from you that it's all settled. At any rate...

 

When I first included the LAPF framework and some of its children mods in my setup, it had to reconsider Cornelia's roleplay entirely. A stainless Knight with 0 infamy doesn't mix too well with LAPF, particularly when you install Bravil Underground and Lovers Slave Trader. I had to convince her to step down from her adamantine pedestal and get her hands dirty.
I've been hunting down half the LL community to teach her how to masturbate like a man (the poor girl didn't object, she's a real darling). Sorry, I got carried away from the subject.

 

I'm only beginning to explore the potential of Blockhead OBSE plugin, and even though I'm just moving my first steps using it, I'm really impressed. ShadeMe is a genius... but you already know that. The idea of changing Cornelia's gender didn't come to me all of a sudden. It grew slowly around a few concepts I had noticed while using LAPF:

 

1. The framework provides the means to play female characters as futanari.
2. Setbody and LoversJoystick allow to set an arbitrary futa mesh (can be an animated dildo/strapon/penis)
3. The subtitles provided by AdultPlayPlus are not always in sync with the 'situations' that may arise.
4. LAPF cum settings: spunk textures can be either disabled for female characters, or allowed without exceptions. This leads to odd results like ejaculating from a strapon (well, I'm aware that some specific models make it possible. I always try to keep informed about the advancements in the field). :D
5. There are mods hosted on LL that introduce transgender/femboy characters, overhauling the female gender.

 

Finally, I took the time to read Blockhead's Readme. That really opened realms to my imagination.

 

I had to pester again the same, patient people that more than once have helped me recently. This blog entry is also the occasion to give them credit for their support and kindness. movomo, are you listening? Thanks.

 

My first attempt was a partial success. Thanks to Blockhead, I managed to set my preferred female body meshes for a male NPC. In the meantime I had learned from fejeena that the 'skin' material property refuses to accept any texture different from footmale.dds (for males) and footfemale.dds (for females). Changing the name to 'default' or 'whatever' ("disabling the shaders" as movomo would say) you can apply to the body meshes any texture you want. While undoubtely useful, this trick had me sidetracked a bit (it would have been better to use Blockhead also for the texture replacement).

I thought it might be useful to include the following, detailed description of the material properties. It's a quote from movomo


Certain material property names and NiTri names are hardcoded. A material name of 'skin' enables the skin shader [...] For the skin-ish materials, (bodypart):<> name convention is used to fetch the appropriate texture for the model.
For example, foot(fe)male.dds is used if the model's name is foot:something, because that texture is assigned as the foot texture in the race record. Likewise upperbody(fe)male.dds for the upperbody:something, leg(fe)male.dds for the lowerbody:something, hand(fe)male.dds for the hand:something.

If only I had knew before!

 

In the CSE, unchecking the 'Female' checkbox causes the face to deform and the textures being darkened. Pasting back the original face (I suggest keeping a "face library.esp" to import face data from your preferred characters, using Wrye Bash) restores the female appearance (not exactly 100% match, it's can be 80-95% based on how you set the age and complexion sliders when the character was first created).
The inacceptable neck seam was the only obstacle left. It originated from the aforementioned 'trick', as apparently I had no way of setting the texture overrides with Blockhead. I mean, usually male textures are in a single file, while female textures have a separate file for the hands. I was about to give up, but then... the missing piece of the puzzle came out.
I had it in my pocket. According to Blockhead Readme, these are the valid BodyPart names:

 

UpperBody
LowerBody
Hand
Foot
Tail

 

They're used to specify both the meshes and textures overrides.
In the end, I only needed 3 copies of footfemale.dds and 3 copies of footfemale_n.dds, and have them renamed as:

 

Racename_Upperbody.dds, Racename_Upperbody_n.dds
Racename_LowerBody.dds, Racename_LowerBody_n.dds
Racename_Foot.dds, Racename_Foot_n.dds

 

femalehand.dds and femalehand_n.dds became:

 

Racename_Hand.dds, Racename_Hand_n.dds

 

I was eager to test the results in game. Screenshots:

The first screenshot shows what's left of the neck seam. It's still visible, but far less than before. In the second you can see Cornelia's (Cornelius' ?) new 'assets'. What are you thinking? I'm of corse referring to the shiny steel armor composed by mixed stuff from Apachii Goddess Store, ANB Micro Bikini (resized to Manga upperbody) and standard issued steel boots and gauntlets. They look shiny just because of the APPLY_HIGHLIGHT diffuse method set in Nifskope.

 

So, you read this document until the end... I'm impressed.

Playing around with CSE: Anto 73 wig as custom hair.

The wig is composed by two NiTriShapes, both rigged, both double-sided. Different material properties.

If I try to use the wig straightly as a hair mesh, the inside mesh appears in the right spot, but the outside mesh will not be rendered. Vaelorian suggested to remove the vertex groups in Blender (to eliminate the rigging) and translate the wig.

Doing it for both objects led to strange results. So I started experimenting.

This is what I got removing the rigging only from the 73_inside block, and without translations:

The positioning looks fine, but there are transparency issues, more noticeable in the view from above.

Based on suggestions from movomo, this is due to the rendering priority, somewhat screwed by Blender 2.49 while exporting, even with stripify geometries off. I also noticed that Blender modified the material properties.

After several attempts, I found a workaround.

1. Import the wig in Blender, delete the outer mesh, remove the vertex group from the insider. Export as 73_inside.nif

2. Correct the material property (copy/paste the material property from the original wig)

3. Remove Branch 73_inside from the original wig in Nifskope

4. Paste Branch the same block from 73_inside.nif into the original wig.

The only problem left is the odd appearance in the CS (Face Tab of the NPC in Object view).

The hair looks translated above the face, rotated 180° and black (maybe because of the 'Fixed color' checkbox).

Can't find my way out of the Testing Hall these days. I've been... testing, indeed, a few things.

 

This one is a body texture (scavenged and improved by AnnaFly) that greatly enhances the contrast in the skin tone, and highlights the muscles. Combined with a high value for glossiness, is perfect for defined bodies like Light GUTS or DMRA-GUTS.

I keep practising with Blender and Mesh Rigger. This time the target is Syl's dress from Shivering Isles.

I made a DMRA-GUTS conversion using the DMRA model created by Nephenee13 as a starting point.

Lots of adjustments to be done, but at last I'm happy with the result.

It was nightime, and Cornelia was at the gates of Bliss. The nice light gave me an idea: perfect spot for a photoshoot.

Some intriguing poses, and a final surprise. Have fun!

In my intentions, this is supposed to be a heartfelt tribute to Speedbuster and Umpa.
As usual, don't expect much in the way of graphic detail, wonderful ENB presets, new poses et cetera et cetera. Trying to get the most from my old PC, vanilla races and a bunch of outdated mods is my only pride and joy. I hope you like it, nevertheless.

While preparing the contents for this page, I was saying to myself: "I should have been a photographer..."
Whether I'm right or not, I leave it to your judgement.

 

This time Cornelia is accompanied by CM Julia, a cute Breton mage I recruited in Cheydinhal that reminds me of the top model Laetitia Casta (particularly when using this wig). Together, they improvise a defilée (despite the rain, but who cares... these girls are real professionals) showing a particular set of modern clothing by Speedbuster that I like very much. Being stubborn is a bad side of my character, but also one of my strong points, at times. My skills at modding suck, really, for a number of reasons. For starters, I wish I had more time to devote to this hobby, but work and real life situations take precedence. Second, I took contact with the Oblivion modding community when the game had already become a classic, having lived in a vanilla world for too long. Finding the Nexus site was for me a wonderful discovery, I could have never imagined that so many enthusiasts were working like a huge global team to make a beautiful game even more beautifuI and enjoyable. I started downloading mods greedily, and in time my curiosity and admiration for their authors began to grow. I started thinking how great would have been adapting the game even more to meet my likings. Besides, the various aspects of modding (design, programming... sheer fun) were already among my consolidated interests.

Sadly, another reason why I can't (and probably will never be) good a this, is that I can't get myself to specialize on a single area of modding. I like very much pushing vertices in Blender, I find it relaxing and fun. At the same time I look at the countless opportunities offered by the Contruction Set and by tools like OBSE, OBGE, Blockhead. I long for the day I will be able to create some big project with them, something I could look upon and smile. For now, I feel like a boy at his first day of school: there's so much to learn, and so little time. I'd like to learn how to make good textures, normal and glow maps too, and using all the features Nifskope has to offer. And why not, to be able to create my own animations. Then, all of sudden, I wake up from this daydream and return to the barren reality. :(

Finding Loverslab was my latest treat. I like it here, its full of nice, open-minded, somewhat crazy people. Feels like home, unlike the Nexus where the discipline is sometimes exagerated (though admittedly necessary), and not all the opinions are equally accepted and meet the same favor. Man, the other day I read a comment from a Nexus user that reminded me of Torquemada. Made me feel guilty for the occasional fapping which I'm inducted to by Speedbuster's works.

Fortunately, not all people there think the same way.

Sorry, I digress. This entry of my neglected blog is dedicated to an announcement. I'm very close to finish my first homework, an adaptation of the LoversMB2 plugin that will allow female player characters to grow a penis and masturbate like dudes. Since the futa option was already present in LAPF, I felt that the MB2 plugin had a gap in it. While female NPCs had support for male animations, I found it rather strange that no one had though of making it possible also for the player.

You may ask: why in the world you got yourself into this?

Well, I am a hungry reader and a real fan of futanari mangas, of corse. Having my character Cornelia scouring Tamriel wielding a bulging cock, and pointing it at her enemies, is certainly a turn on for me, but more than everything is fun!

I couldn't terminate this entry without giving credits to people who really deserve it.

Of corse this wouldn't have been possible without the great help I received from movomo and varenne, Loverslab users that I consider as friends by now. A huge thanks to both of them. And thanks to gregathit for translating and making available LAPF and many other great mods for the community.
