Well then, thank god you don't work in the video game industry, because you would have shut down a lot of titles that I, and millions of others, have had a lot of fun with.

It must be interesting to be able to sit back and call a game that millions of people love a complete failure though.  I just couldn't bring myself to ignore relevant information like that... much less use enlarged bright red letters in the process.  But hey, more power to ya :)

Considering the amount of garbage that's pumped out by the game industry, one can say that taste differs.  However, when you're building a game on a different premise to appeal to a wider audience you're better off not naming it as part of the series that exists.  See FO:T compared to FO1/2.  Not only do people expect something different in terms of gameplay but they also know that the story isn't as-so connected to the previous games.  The problem also exists, when you take core components of the game, rip them out and say "good enough" which is what's happened in this case.  On the other hand, adding things like the crafting system made up for it in many peoples eyes.

But to me it seems they decided that skimping on existing things within the game series would be a good design decision, many people appear to disagree with that.  A similar case happened between DA:O and DA2, where the entire game mechanics system was gutted to a simplified level and people went NOPE.

I'm getting pretty old, but the way gaming has been shoveling the "must appeal to everyone, instead of to existing fans" is really starting to remind me of what happened during the 1980's video game industry crash.  That was also precipitated by a large decline in major studios, something we've been seeing for the last 7-10 years as well, at the end of the day it was the small studios who self-published, or published through other companies that survived that one.

Did they even try is the question lol Its amazing that even tho its so crap fanboys are flooding Metacritic trying to boost the score -_- not even reviewing just 10ing it to get the score up. I swear to god this piece of shit better not get GOTY that will be a fucking joke

The last game I played that was this bad, was DA2 but even I gave DA2 a fair shake, same in this case.  And fanboys tried flooding metacritic in the same method, sadly I don't think there's going to be anything that could save the game at this point and Bethesda is going to have to accept while critics drooled all over themselves like usual, the vast majority of users think it's a mediocre game.  Even the rating on Steam is dropping from overwhelmingly positive to mostly positive.  Give it a few weeks and it'll likely be mixed.

  3. Get a live Linux CD (or DVD/USB Stick) and test your PC with it. Doing this will rule out OS & driver possibilities.

Also, you had this problem before the UPS, so I wouldn't blame the UPS for no reason. I'm pretty sure your UPS would give you at least an audible signal when there's an issue with electricity.

If the UPS is having a local fault because it's overheating(battery or components), then it won't give an audible signal it'll simply trip into a safe-state mode, or overheating protection mode for the battery.  That was a common problem on the APC-EPS350 models, it was fixed in a later hardware revision 1.1A.   There is a possibility that the PC is drawing more then the AC circuit itself can handle but it's not enough to trip the audible alarm too, in which case the UPS is making up the difference and depleting the UPS which then shuts down when it hit's zero.

My current cyberpower UPS does that, my old APC did it.  There was no audible alarm for it either, rather there was a distinct buzz when it kicked over into battery failover to pick up the voltage slack though, but it's super quiet on the new UPS.  In anycase it's something easy to test, hook it up without the UPS and see what happens.  Hook it up to another outlet and see what happens as well.  It could also be that the circuit in question is shared with another and that's causing problems.  My parents had that problem, if the PC was on upstairs and someone used the microwave it would trip the circuit.  The house was 150 years old, and all that though.

  4. I guess because not many people have DB DLC compared to Dawnguard or Skyrim vanilla (lol).

Since both DLC's have been as cheap as $2 there's not much of a reason to not buy it.  But if I remember right Skymill said that SD+ is pretty modular so if someone wants to write it they can use the existing hooks and connect to the mod.

  5. Is there an advised one? and why.. Curious aliens would like to know.. ok some humans might want to know as well. :P

Either one will work fine, I believe both have an automated option to remove non-permanent references from saves.  And both allow removal of scripts by name, I normally use the 1st one linked in the above post.  Personally try either one and use whichever one feels the most useful to you.

  6. They stated that there would be no romances in the kickstarter.  Camping equipment is meant to make it so you 'can't' rest after every encounter and snowball through everything.  There was supposed to be a similar mechanic in the original BG/IWD games.  There's already mods to remove it though.

The voices are consistent.  It's similar to what was done back in ye olde infinity engine days, and this is something that a lot of people enjoyed.  If you didn't grow up with those games, it wouldn't be something you liked though.  They also went with said design because 2.5D is what people wanted.  Also if you can do better, feel free to do so.  I'm sure plenty of people would be happy to see your art work.

  7. So is the deluxe version worth the extra dough or is the extra content crap?

In general, no it's  not worth it.  The gear and so on will be outpaced very quickly with designs you can buy.  Unless of course you're one of those people that just wants to collect things to collect them.

Vivienne is a mistress of someone, she's not married.  Anyway at nearly 150 hours in, the whole mmo grindy bit is what burned me out in the end.  That and the lack of a proper UI bar.  Let's give mages 15 abilities!  Sucker...you can only use 7 of them, because we'll slap an extra one in there that you'll probably use anyway.

  8. I seem to have run into a glitch.  I get taken into the cave, the NPC dialogue plays.  Then when the NPC goes to talk to me, I get the standard Devious Devices gag dialogue, and the quest stops after that.

Yep this is the same problem I'm having.  Not sure if it's mod related, or I've broken something between my mod installs.

  9. I'm not sure what wrong on my end or else, after I make clean save (use save cleaner) and change EC+ 3.36 -> 3.39a and also get rid of Actor Events via NMM but EC menu didn't show up on MCM, and I also use console command "setStage SKI_ConfigManagerInstance 1" but EC menu still didn't show up anyway.

I also use Skyre and RND (someone mentioned that RND have some conflict with EC+) but for EC+3.36 and previous version didn't cause any problem with my savegame before and I didn't have any CTD problem, so could you suggest how to activated EC+ menu from MCM for EC+ 3.37 or later ? (I already use SKY UI 4.1 and SL 1.59c btw)

Sometimes, I've found that after using the setstage ski_configmanagerinstance 1 option, zone transition or reloading a quick save will force it to install.

  10. Adding more platters in an HDDs is adding more R/W heads ence the more moving parts inside, a single platter HDD is way more reliable than a 3 or 4 platters thats basic maths.

A few years back every single HDD on the market was under warranty for 5 years, it changed for a reason.

Here's the thing though, area density is what determines how many platters are required in order to get to the desired size.  Meaning that if you want a 4TB drive, you're getting 4 platters currently.  This is pretty much true though out the industry.  With the current technology we have, we're reaching the physical limitations even with how close each individual track is.  We can't bend the laws of physics, so one of two things are going to happen.  Either there will be some kind of breakthrough as to how data is stored per track, or traditional HDD's are dead.  I'm leaning towards the second one myself, especially as nand continues to drop in price as manufacturing quality improves.

And you want to know why warranties changed?  That's simple, bottom line.  The drive market hit the very bottom, and the actual profitibility of the drive companies were becoming questionable.  The same thing happened turning the dotcom implosion, when there was a massive glut of hardware on the market.  Take a look how many companies died or were absorbed.  We went from 30+ HDD companies all making their own drives, to less than 10 companies in 5 years.

  11.

How long to SSD's last compare to hard drives?

Depends on the SSD, but I've got a 1st generation(OCZ Vertex) that I recently replaced with 5th generation(ADATA SX900).  That first gen drive had nearly 6 years of continuous use, with the page file and indexing on the drive turned on.  When I checked the smart settings, there were 108 failed sectors(that can't be written to anymore).  And it had roughly 78% of the life left on it.  For normal use, they figure 5-20 years depending on the quality of the drive.  There's this site here that has been doing what's called "the endurance stress test."  It's a bit tech heavy, but it gives you a rough idea that short of the drive dying, you'll get easily a decade of use, but the calculated failure for most SSDs is roughly 30 years.

What I mean by eating itself, is it "resetting" on it's own, that's a software flaw in the controller.  It's very rare, I've experienced it once and it was fixed in a firmware update.  Firmware updates are one of the things that are common in SSD's, used to be common in videocards too.  Not so much anymore.

  12. Well, how long past are these good old days actually? Because my days only get back up to Baldurs Gate and stuff, and since then all the games claimed to have "important" decisions, though really it didn't matter too much, even in BG2 and the likes. And before that? Can't judge, but many of those games seemed to be focused on battles as well, not really on "decisions", and the story hast to go some laid-out plan anyway...so...

If you've never played Planescape:Torment, then you're missing out.  It's one of the few CRPG's of that era where your actions during the course of the game effect the ending of the game.  A few examples:  Exceptionally high intelligence allows you to do very special things at the end of the game as well as though the course of the events, so does wisdom.  Exceptionally low as well.  Betraying, or saving companions change how things lead up to the end.  Joining particular factions have impacts. Having specific companions can lead to bad things happening.  But with CRPG's much like Pn'P games focus on battles, fights, and so on because you need to get experience somewhere.  And helping someone with their shopping means it takes a reallllly long time to level up.

  13. "I hate the waiting... the goddamned waiting..."

My computer's a beast. It should not take thirty seconds to load the main menu, especially when my laptop which has less RAM, a lesser video card, and a slower processor, and loads it in five. That's six times as many tests I could potentially be accomplishing!

I actually had the same problem a while back(with the 302's), and traced it right down to the video drivers that I was using.  This is a while ago, but I've heard nvidia drivers are still very flaky on this issue.  Whether or not that applies in your case, I can't say.  I should toss in that I've long switched to a AMD card, and have seen the issue creep up from time-to-time with the beta drivers as well.  The 14.4beta CAT's had this problem for some people, I don't see it in the 14.6 CAT's though.

  14. Well radiant being radiant, you could use a few locations(caves, ruins, etc) that already have spiders(and for anything else in the future) near the entrance/inside as well as your own cave.  Though, it might just be too much of a pita.   Though, since you're adding in extra stuff it may work to play along in the future for any other additions you might want to add.

  15. This sounds pretty interesting, but sounds like it will require the Monster Girl mod for the resources, so anyone who wants to use this would need MG, and given the themes of that mod one can understand why some people might be reluctant to install it.

Or they could simply pull the assets out of it and use them as they see fit.  The assets in question aren't owned by anyone, and aren't native to LL in the first place.  At this point, I doube anyone could actually figure out who originally created them since the sites where they came from 5ish or so years ago have long since disappeared.

  16.  Is there some other way to get traded to someone else or progress in this without escaping?

You can use the console command a few posts above to spawn another trader, if the trader dies the spawn timer resets or should. But sometimes the script will break.  In which case, using the console command is the only way to go on.  Then again, you could spawn a mass of guards and that should do the trick as well.

  17. Has anyone ever looked at the "Pinup Poser" content. every pose in there can be found in DAZ3D and Poser content for DAZ3D (because the two work together). very much the pot calling the kettle black and the very reason he left the Nexus before getting tagged the same as Krista. As much a hypocrite as the nexus staff.

    Un - Fucking - Believable.

They probably also believe that their "conversions" of other peoples work is also original, and all their own.

  18. You would have been fine running a single strip of two 500GB SSD's instead of considering 4 drives in a 10 setup, with mechanical drives for your redundancy.  That's what I use, especially at the price/performance cost ratio.  SSD's have already hit the maximum realworld r/w limit on SATA3, and anything beyond 2 or 3 drives is really overkill.  And not to forget we're in a "chip shortage" for SSD's, flashdrives, etc.  If you didn't buy a SSD a year ago, you're looking at price hurt.  It was down as low as $0.34/GB last year, now if you're lucky you can find it as low as 0.70/GB but genearly it's in the 0.80 range.

But really, in terms of "quality of drives" and all that stuff.  There was a test article on /. a few days ago on reliability, and the top two failures were Seagate and WD, with the highest performers being Samsung(if you can find them) and Toshiba.

You'll probably find this interesting for performance in a 0 setup:

I really do miss the old days when there were dozens of companies out there.  Back when I was young and was looking for what to do in the world, I worked at a rather large shop.  We'd get in crates of factory sealed drives(500 units), and they'd be dead or already starting systemic cluster failure; where drive clusters fail, are re-written, and fail until the entire drive is marked bad.  Want to guess the company?  Seagate.  I've only started using the drives both at home, including in my media and NAS in the last couple of years.  WD, I've got 3 drives in my gaming PC, had one drive die within a year, the RMA replacement is starting to show cluster failure and I/O write errors that's 6mo old so about time for another replacement.

And backup software is seriously hit or miss, after running into so many issues with Norton, I wanted to light it on fire.  And sadly I'm old enough to remember when Norton was kickass software in the 90's, and Norton Commander could do *anything*.  The last 5 years or so I've gone with Acronis True image.  Hell of a lot better.  Plus it supports pretty much all the other backup formats on the market, so if you have existing hardbackups on/offsite you can pull it up.

  19. I'm not even seeing this in the MCM. When a load a new save, it says Estrus Chaurus is scanning the animation registry, then does nothing. The only new MCM menu added is the original Estrus.

This will also help (it's on the first page too, but a bit buried) in the main post.

In the console type: "setstage SKI_ConfigManagerInstance 1" w/o quotes which will force both MCM and SkyUI to update.

  20. Yep they finally nuked my MF account, only took them two years.  All three files(CA) were hosted on there, so in the mean time I'll toss it on mega.  If someone wants it uploaded somewhere else send me a PM and I'll do that too.

I'll upload a new copy of the 0.83 data files in a bit.  And send symon a pm to get the links fixed.

edit: after appeal the CA file should be back up now at least.  Anything else beyond that and relating to this mod has nothing to do with me.
