  1. Fallout turns 18

Similar to people who started the series with Fallout 3, Skyrim is the first TES game I've ever played and when it came out, I saw a lot of complaints about the "dumbing down" coming from the fans of the older games in TES series, such as Daggerfall and Morrowind. As some Fallout 3 fans do, I could easily say that "Skyrim is a great game, I don't get what the fuss is about", being my first game in TES series, but that would only show my ignorance about the previous games.
  2. Fallout turns 18

    Just saw this on NMA...
  3. Mount & Blade has the most intuitive melee combat system I've ever seen in a computer game, it's not even close to QTE combat at all. It's purely based on skill and timing. It may look clunky due to its simplicity but considering the scale of battles in M&B you can imagine that you cannot make it too complex if you want to run it on today's hardware. It can however be made to look a bit better by adding skill based variations to combat animations. As for its mounted combat, you can easily see its influences on games like Skyrim and TW3. I'd also like to mention that combat mechanics is the core of the game in M&B and everything else are built around it. If the combat sucked nobody would care about that game. I'm not sure if this is true for other games mentioned here.

  5. Problem with UNP Body

I think all UNP variations have that issue. Except maybe Dream Girl?
  6. In Skyrim, pressing F switches between 1st and 3rd person view, similar to Fallout NV.   If you are in 3rd person view and if you are not moving or not in combat:   - Moving your mouse rotates the camera around your character.   otherwise:   - Moving your mouse rotates your character towards the camera angle. - If you press and hold F while rotating your mouse you may rotate the camera around your character.   If you are using an 360 degree animation mod this behavior is different.
  7. HDD vs SSD

Unfortunately, even RAID systems can fail unrecoverably. It's best to keep multiple backups of your important data.
  8. You mean you cannot rotate the camera around your character using your mouse and the camera is stuck in one direction?   Or try mounting/dismounting a horse.   "68d74".moveto player player.mountactor 68d74 player.dismountactor 68d74   (68d74 is Allie, the player horse in Whiterun, but it can be any other horse)   This is a common problem with Skyrim, I think it's even possible to run into it in the vanilla game without any mods.
  9. HDD vs SSD

Even though I do it myself, I don't think using one large external drive to store or back up all your data is a good idea. 2 x 2GB, or even better 4 x 1GB would probably be a safer solution for external storage or some RAID 1 NAS device.
  10. Waking Nightmare CTD

    Yeah, that's more likely.
  11. Waking Nightmare CTD

It may also be an issue with misbehaving mods when you start controlling an other character though.
  12. Waking Nightmare CTD

That quest is a "nightmare" to finish, without a CTD. The last official patch claims to address the issues with it, but don't know what it actually does. Switching to another character to control is probably the root of all its issues. That's what happens when you drink that potion.

  14. This is of course a way to prevent it from happening, but I'm more interested in what we can possibly do to fix it when it happens. We need a list of things to try when: Your mouse wheel stops zooming in/outYou cannot engage in combat (cannot attack).  For instance, does switching to "Immersive First Person View" (and back) do any good in this situation? Or using a tanning rack, perhaps mounting a horse etc.? You may place one right in front of you using player.placeatme.     In addition to the problem above, these issues need a solution as well: You cannot choose a new spell/power from the spells menu or from the Favorites menu. The camera angle is stuck in one direction and attempting to rotate the camera around your character (using your mouse) rotates your character around itself instead.
  15. How to debug CTD

Sounds like SKSE itself crashes before writing the dump file.
  16. [Mod Idea] Rape Yourself - Minigame -

I think the difference is obvious, but technically speaking, if all you want is to rape someone, or let some NPC rape your character then there's no difference. This is meant to be played as a mini-game during your actual play-through and allows you to role-play two characters at the same time. Also, as I've mentioned above, the reason why I named it as "Rape Yourself" is because I thought it would be easier to implement, but we can change the theme of the mod and extend it to cover all sorts of interactions between these two characters. We might even be able to turn Skyrim into a party-based RPG, in which you can control multiple characters at the same time. While you control one character the other goes into a follow mode and basically becomes a follower, and you may switch to the other one anytime you want. I don't think it's an "immersion-killer", not even close, but I agree that it can be annoying, especially if you're busy doing something in the game and don't want such an interruption. This is the reason why the mod needs to have a MCM menu to reduce the chance of this happening or to disable it completely. As for the potential issues, I currently don't know really, some game breaking issues may occur, but some of them may be prevented. Keep in mind that this is only a mod idea, not a complete plan to create the mod.
  17. Actually, neither of them is a bug, maybe I should remove that from the list.
  18. Mod Organizer

Sure, that's another way to do it. Personally, I don't like having too many files with awkward file extensions in my profile folder and in Windows registry. I also want the backup to include my INI files. I find my method cleaner and more reliable.
  19. SexLab Dangerous Nights 2

    I don't know. I'm still using 1.59c.
  20. Mod Organizer

Just a reminder, always quit MO before creating a backup archive for those files.
  21. How to debug CTD

Where exactly is your SKSE.INI is located and what is written inside it? What is the file extension for it? Hope it isn't TXT, as in SKSE.INI.TXT.
  22. Mod Organizer

Why don't you simply archive (zip/rar/7z) all the TXT and INI files in your profile folder? Or am I missing something? Below is some of the files you should look for. I'm still using an older version so there might be some changes. archives.txt (list of BSAs) lockedorder.txt (if you have plugins with locked order) modlist.txt (mods on the left pane in reversed order, +:enabled, -:disabled) loadorder.txt (plugin order on the right pane, includes disabled plugins as well) plugins.txt (plugin order on the right pane, but only the active/enabled ones) initweaks.ini Skyrim.ini SkyrimPrefs.ini Give the archive a proper name with the date you created it. To revert back to an earlier state, close MO and simply replace the current files with the ones in the archive. You'll return to the previous order for both sides when you relaunch MO.
  23. How to debug CTD

Either minidumps are not enabled in your SKSE.INI or your SKSE cannot detect your SKSE.INI file. Because if it was enabled: You'd be able to find this folder (it is created even if there's been no crash): C:\Users\(user)\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\SKSE\Crashdumps   There would be a "minidumps enabled" line after "config path = " in your SKSE.LOG. It isn't there in the log file you've attached.  I'm not quite sure, but your SKSE.LOG tells me that you have some other issues with your mods and their load order as well.
  24. Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines

No, I mean I like the game even though I don't like vampire stuff in general, you know, films, tv series, etc. Thinking about both games now, I'd say it was a better experience than HL2.
  25. How to debug CTD

Take a look at the last line in SKSE.LOG, what does it say about the crash? When a dump file is created because of a crash, the last line in SKSE.LOG mentions that, should also inform you if it fails to create one. Papyrus logs have nothing to do with the SKSE crash dump.
