  1. Have you tried running the vanilla game without mods, SKSE and ENB and also using the default (i.e. created by the laucher) INI settings?

Also, check the Event Viewer and see if there are any errors or warnings (that occur at the time of the crash) in the Windows Logs > ApplicationWindows Logs > System. To run the Event Viewer is Windows + R and then %windir%\system32\eventvwr.msc /s

  2. Ran in to a similar issue myself earlier tonight, and did some troubleshooting. NetImmerse 3.4.4 (The latest version at the time of writing this) causes CTD's upon loading cells with decapitated bodies.

The author claims that this is a known issue (wish he had posted that under his "known issues" section of his mod..), and that it is a result of the method by which his mod applies facial overlays. However, the author's suggested solution of disabling face overlays via nioverride.ini seems to have no impact on the problem.

Worked around this myself for the time being by:

    1) Disabling NiOverride.

    2) Entering the problem-cell.

    3) `markfordelete`, then `disable` on each decapitated body within the cell.

    4) Save/quit, Reenable NiOverride

    5) Disabling killmoves which can cause decapitations (Via VioLens).

    *grumble closed source mods grumble*

I've also had a similar issue with nioverride. Approaching an area (engine loads a new cell) with a decapitated body in it kept causing crashes consistently with nioverride in the stack and having face overlays disabled in nioverride.ini did absolutely nothing. Had to disable the DLL (or the mod NetImmerse Override) to fix that problem.

Again as a workaround, if you want to keep decapitations in the game and continue to use nioverride, you may use "disable" & "markfordelete" on every decapitated body. Personally, I'd prefer not using nioverride at all.

  3.

When you see nioverride in the crash dump stack, disabling nioverride.dll (or RaceMenu mod) should be the first thing to try.

that list of dll is just... the list of the dll that are load

I was referring to the stack, not the module list. If nioverride is in the stack it may have something to do with the crash. In fact, most of the time it does.

  5. IMO, having those dirty face textures in character creation is a really stupid design choice. In the vanilla game you are not supposed to change your face again and again and once you've chosen the dirty face then you're stuck with it for the entire game. Why would anyone choose a dirty face for the Dragonborn? You really want to role-play a character that never takes a bath? I'd rather use the Bathing in Skyrim mod if I want to look dirty *immersively*. :)

  6. I'm pretty sure this is related to a face details texture set conflict between the original race and the vampire version of it. What I mean by that is, texture sets and/or the order of them is different between say the BretonRace and BretonRaceVampire, so if you choose the 2nd preset for your Breton character, the 2nd preset of its vampire version may be a totally different texture set (such as the dirty one). And ECE makes things even more complicated. It's possible to reorder them and remove the conflict, but the appearance you want for your character may not be the one you want for other vampires. So it's a bit of a double-edged sword. (It may also be an issue with the actual textures for the corresponding texture sets, if you have some modified ones).

Thanks I'll try this one, better than messing with the race. Edit: The mod does what it says. Probably replaces the dirt textures with empty/transparent ones for everyone, but that doesn't really matter, as I'm pretty sure nobody uses them anyway.

  7. My character's face becomes dirty when she becomes a vampire (BretonRace -> BretonRaceVampire). The dirt on her faces is the one you'd choose on the race menu. She doesn't look like a "proper" vampire though, her face still looks human. Yes, I could probably change it using showracemenu but I'd like to change the default appearance. Where should I look first? Is the race BretonRaceVampire the root of the problem? I am using ECE with Fair Skin Complexion.

(If I use "setrace BretonRace" and then "setrace BretonRaceVampire", the dirt disappears but only until the next save load).

  8. I was not comparing MGS with FO4, I was just reporting some memory testing I did on MGS5.

How much RAM did you have on the system you did the testing? I'm asking this because a 8 GB 64-bit Windows system cannot run a game that requires 7 GB memory without resorting to virtual memory. Most of the time the amount of free RAM is no more than 6 GB on such a system.

  9. My idea is that it will be (like all other games developed multi-platform) a game that can be compiled seamless to all platforms.

And so it will not be technically a "porting", but will have the same limitations.

Well, what we, the gamers, refer to as "porting" also covers producing a game for the common denominator of different platforms. That may not be technically "porting", but lowers the quality of the game you'd get on a particular platform all the same, and that is often a PC most of the time.

  10. It is a late 2015 game. Was it supposed to run on a under-sized PC?

If Beth was doing it, do you imagine all the complaints about: "it is a porting to PC of a low console game..." ?

It WILL be a console port, except this time the current gen consoles have a bit more muscle than a dated PC.

I don't get your MGS vs. FO4 comparison BTW. Yes, a 64-bit game can easily use more than 3-4 GB but I highly doubt that would be the case for FO4.

  11. quite taxing for outdated looking visuals don't you think ??

I agree. And notice that a 64-bit OS is required. There were some people here who didn't believe me when I said that would be the case. The 64-bit OS requirement is there because of the new generation of consoles, it's not solely for PC gamers, and it's quite possible that it'll be a "shitty console port".

Both of the current gen consoles have 8GB of RAM. The game has to be 64-bit or at least LAA to utilize that amount of memory. If not I can see a shitstorm over the horizon. Not only that, the game would run slower than it's supposed to, if it's 32-bit, as both of these consoles have 64-bit CPUs. In other words, 32-bit is very unlikely.

  12. Nice. No neck seam with zero effort. :)

Is that a premium hair? Which version of BD are you playing, Korean?

Haven't checked BD for quite a while now, any news about EU version?

  13. Similar to people who started the series with Fallout 3, Skyrim is the first TES game I've ever played and when it came out, I saw a lot of complaints about the "dumbing down" coming from the fans of the older games in TES series, such as Daggerfall and Morrowind. As some Fallout 3 fans do, I could easily say that "Skyrim is a great game, I don't get what the fuss is about", being my first game in TES series, but that would only show my ignorance about the previous games.

  14. Mount & Blade has the most intuitive melee combat system I've ever seen in a computer game, it's not even close to QTE combat at all. It's purely based on skill and timing. It may look clunky due to its simplicity but considering the scale of battles in M&B you can imagine that you cannot make it too complex if you want to run it on today's hardware. It can however be made to look a bit better by adding skill based variations to combat animations. As for its mounted combat, you can easily see its influences on games like Skyrim and TW3.

I'd also like to mention that combat mechanics is the core of the game in M&B and everything else are built around it. If the combat sucked nobody would care about that game. I'm not sure if this is true for other games mentioned here.

  15. Just saw this on NMA...

    Happy 18th Birthday Fallout

On this day in 1997 a little game called Fallout went gold and the rest is history.

From NMA's mirror of the original Fallout site:

Project Update: Well, it's done. We shipped Fallout!
Actually, we silvered today, which means that we should be in major stores by Oct 10. So, it hasn't really shipped yet, but the duplication and manufacturing has begun! Shipped, silver - hey, we're done! -- 1 Oct 1997 @ 1615 PST

I like this comment, pretty much what I think...

I guess that's why Bethesda waited until Fallout 4 to fuck it on all of it's holes, it's legal now.
