Alright, nothing story-related then ... So I like to make some moral enemies now and say: I am not too thrilled by the fighting and level-system somehow. I mean, it's nicely bloody, finishers never grow old etc... But when I read reviews mentioning "revamped fights", and more "strategic" than in W2? Well, I guess I am doing it still wrong then...all I ever do (on Broken Bones difficulty) is roll around like an idiot, and I only dare to parry etc when there is only one guy left. I also don't really see any focus for me in the talent-tree...I assign points for medicre percentages here and there, change some spells to be different but...but it hardly feels like a proper reward for levelling most of the time. I actually liked the talent-tree in W2 a bit better But really, all I need is Quen, Tawny Owl and Swallow..maybe an Oil now and then...I still die a lot when hit in the back though, if I am to reckless, but other than this ... drink, slash, roll, and repeat? Anyone else similar feelings, or did I qualify myself as the one idiot on the net criticizing something about Witcher 3 (apart from that stupid downgrade-debate..)? Could live with that though

Alright so ... Triss and the Witch Hunters ... damn, that was...an unpleasant experience. First I went "guns-blazing", but...I reloaded to see what the more "subtle approach would bring. Not pleasant, actually quite painful to sit through (even though you don't see anything)...But I guess I'll stick with this unpleasant way of solving the quest, somehow it makes for a more interesting story...and at least the end was rather satisfying. Sorry Triss though...I hope they got good manicurists in Novigrad...

For me, still the Bloody Baron. Tower of Mice was good though. Especially because it was 100% in-line with Sapkoswki's short-stories...which usually took an original legend and "witcherized" it (In that case the legend of the "Mousetower of Bingen am Rhein"). Oh, and me and the blonde sorc, well, I had to reload here for the first time to rectify an answer that I didn't thought would lead to...a not so lovely outcome. But there is a way to at least do everything right with her, ot at least it seems so for now ... I don't trust this game though

Well, you probably won't like it then that Triss is, after her famous battle at that Hill, also is horribly scarred (in thte books its said she cannot wear a revealing dress anymore as not even illusions seems to work, but that seemed to have changed, like her chestnut hair to red ^^ ) And Yenn's background makes it even more sad and interesting. She was scorned her whole young life until she found magic and thus a purpose and place in life. And hey, she surely does not look like a lady of the woods ... ^^ And after all the crime, incest, murder, suicide that I experienced the last days ... today I finish my Witcher 3 day on a high and funny note... I met a Troll! No, two trolls, but the second one ...near Oxenfurt...well ...not exactly like this but... :D [spoiler]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTSA_sWGM44

Alright, playing for hours now and still not advanced that much in the main story (damn question marks, damn you all!!!) But I have to write down a bit about something, a specific huge questline I just finished (or did I? I have a feeling though...) Anyway, SPOILER! Not open it as long as you haven't finished all questlines involving the bloody baron/ladies of the woods Okay, I had to write this of my chest But I hope its not the true ending, or at least that I will meet a certain trio again...I have some scores to settle

Well ... Yenn and Geralt are meant for each other, bound by fate, by love, by all they went through. In regards to their history, its actually not much of a decision, its Yennefer all the way ...especially if you read the stories/books... But then, Triss is...a much more loveable person (as far as sorceresses go, of course) and Yennefer can be utterly demanding, cold, at least on her surface, and if all one knew before was the games, then I guess Triss is the way to go? Or screw all that and ask yourself: Red or Raven? What'S sexier? Anyway...so mcuh talk about the stupid downgrade-stuff, and the open-world, and quests...but I want to add something different that hardly got recognized in most reviews...that amazing soundtrack...damn, I love those slavic tunes... >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0NOBdPnoe0 >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8J9HXcOxrs

How "modern" are we talking here? Because I'll just throw in a name here "Imoen" ... and I am pretty sure not a lot of games ever were time-sensitive (A horrible thought actually, if you really had to watch the clock or else the main story would bite your ass...therefore immersion can only go so far)

Alright, finally finsihed the first map, killed the beast (what a fun fight that was!), realized after this I could have cafted a much better silver sword, but at least found plenty of neat stuff. Died several times (difficulty higher than normal, but not too high), still have to figure some things out though (like, crosbow? ) Fights are fun though, I liek the finishers (cutting a man in half never grows old...), though without Quen I guess I would need to quit the game, true live-saver. I also like it with the potions now, it plays a bit smoother, though its less "witcher-ery", as they are supposed to drink them before a battle, not gulp them like cheap D&D-Potions. But I don't care for "lore" here And my inventory is filled to the brim with all kinds of crap, and I am afraid what's still to come...Never been much a friend of crafting in any game, no matter if Skyrim, Dragon Age or Witcher. But I have to adapt I guess. Quests are...nice...so far. It just feels good to put a murdered ghost to rest (and the battle was kinda cool, Yrden FTW!), searching a battlefield for corpses, and even the little non-quests like hidden treasures make it feel worthwhile to do them, for items, diagrams, etc... Graphics? Nice enoguh for me to enjoy them. Especially the characters are gorgeous to look at, as they are not as sterile and clean, and also never clones of other NPCs. They also all feel like persons with a story, even though you only talk briefly with them (The herbalists little background-story, or the "freak" hunter...kinda sad often...) And now...Yennefer. I really, really like her already. She looks beautiful, though not in a barbie-doll-way. And I already worry the meeting with Triss, the ever-lovely redhead. Red or Black, Geralt? Decisions, decisions. Stopped playing for now, right before teh meeting with Charles "Tywn" Dance. Can't wait 'til work is over tomorrow, and then finally a Witcher-weekend!

Alright, not much into the game by now (damn, I should just quit my job...), but so far, its fun. At least the first quest for the frying pan made me laugh, Yennefer looks gorgeous, graphics are okay but never my primary concern... Only young Ciri looked kinda ... weird, more like a halfling as a twelve year old girl...but I am biased, I never was a fan of her character anyway...
-
Now I have to say, looking at my rapidly (well, relativly to downlaoad ^^) filling installation-bar from DVD ... I am glad I went retail though not much of worth beside a soundtrack-CD and a nice map I probably lose soon anyway

Leaks and Mass Effect, never good signs Andromeda-Galaxy? Would fit, this way they can totally scrap everything they build and trashed in ME2-3 ... Red-blue-green? Would no longer matter... But what happened? My guess: Shep woke up in the rubble, realized the whole story she was in turned into some weird nonsense and made an Exodus into another galaxy that made more sense? Where a biological race eradicates all mechanical life every 50000 years to prevent little ghost kids with hoodies starting to talk shit...or something like that...

Ha! Personally I have to say this whole "downgrade"-drama is of little to no interest to me. I can barely judge how good graphics are anyway. For me TW2 still looks gorgeous, but then, I also think Skyrim looks great And though I like CD Red as a company, I cannot help but feel a little, just a little bit amused that the "little internet fucktards" now piss on them a bit as well, and not just the usual suspects. The praise CD Red received, as if almost the new messiah of gaming, always rubbed me the wrong way. Still, they are no Ubi-EA, but it seems the rules of market and capitalism has and will affect them, too. And yeah, for me DAI was the only really good game of 2014 and does not deserve half the shit (despite obvious flaws) it received, often with mocking from the pure Witcher 3-our-saviour-fancrowd. So also in this regard I like the "controversy", bringing down CD Red or more so their fanatical fans, a bit down to Earth again. Or, to sum it all up: First-World Problems at their finest And now I wanna play the damn game already...doesn't help they show those commercials on TV, Geralt frying a griffon...damn, damn, damn

Hm, not wanting to discourage you but the Kayran-Killing is not even the end of Act 1 Still act 2 is ahead of you (and quite a decision to make before that), but at least Act 3 is somewhat short. And to make things worse for you: If you really want to know all sides of the story and secrets revealed one has to play Act 2 again, yet with making a different decision in Act 1 ... reading the novels and shorts is not really required, but they are a fun read. Not too high as lord of the rings, or Song of Ice and Fire. But straight to teh point and with a lot of irony, sex, swearing, killing, and popcultural references, or maybe more fairytale-references...But it might also be a strategy to first play the games, then maybe read the books/stories - for that "Oh THAT was what Triss was talking about, and THAT was how Geralt met Yennefer"-effect ... Damn, I would love to spoiler everything !

Well, no preload here because I am old (over thirty!) and bought the game over Amazon, I want to wait for the mail-man, delievering the package, opening it etc, trying to get this old feeling from back in the days ^^ But I'd say that i would make some sense to finish Witcher 2, storywise. How far are you into the game? Already Act2? Then Act 3 isn't really that long, and I expect Witcher 3 to be reference-heavy to the story of Witcher 2. Lot's of things happening in part 2 (death of kings) are the foundation of Witcher 3's setting... And maybe read the books as well (or mostly the short stories, which are better than the "real books") From what I read Witcher 3 wil more than ever before make references to the books, even characters like "Dudu", from one of my favorite Witcher shorts...
-
Sounds like the very definition of "adventure" to me, ever since the first people started to tell stories around the campfire ^^
-
Witcher 3 may be open world, but its also story-focused on Geralt, who is a predefined character, pre-defined in his profession (Witcher), his appereance (scared, whiter-haired, cat-eyes) and most everything else. It has nothing to do with the year we live in, it's simply the source-material the game has to work with ... also open world is overrated anyway (Farcry3 is open world and boring as fuck at that), though I hope it's the first time we'll see a strong storyline combined with mostly free roaming (and maybe Bethesda will finally learn something in that regard)
-
Nice one. I actually like the rather "uninvolved" look of the female. A rather neat animation for prostitution-mods, like "damn, get it over with and pay me already - yawn..."
-
Hm? Like Skyrim? Not sure, even in Skyrim I simply don't advance teh plot often, but I know its there, and I don't mind as it simpyl doesn't effect me. But ME has always been about the main plot, it was the point of the series...well, at least for me, Bioware seemed to have had other ideas (hence ME2 not advancing anything plotwise in connection to ME1, and ME3 even ignoring plot-threads established in ME2 - Harbinger is still pissed about THAT, I tell you ^^) At the moment however, I have not much of an idea what ME4 will be like, I guess I know more about the plot of Star Wars 7 ... (and hey, I sometimes manage to ignore the Prequels ever existed, so maybe...ah...we'll see...)
-
No, wouldn't stop me...what would stop me byuing the game is: ME3 as a whole, and ME2 as it can hardly be seperated from part 3 anymore...not sure what they are up with ME4 now story-wise, but after that disapointing story-disaster they pulled of before (and its not just five minutes of the end, the problems are deeper than that...), I am not so eager to revisit that universe, DRM or not...
-
Conan O'Brien officialy restored my somewhat waning desire to play Witcher 3 with a mere ten minute video...and now I want him doing a full let's play Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt ... to get laid
-
Hm, also quite similar to Kingdoms of Amalur, it had such an evasive-teleport as well. I hope Ciri is having some more skills in battle, otherwise its the return to "Rolling Geralt" from TW2 ... I am really digging the soundtrack I have to say ...
-
Indeed. Odd however has become a true Witcher-Maniac and might actually be a little biased by now, however he also is one of the few LP-ers around I really care to watch ... he is smart, has a very nice voice and takes his time for the story (Canadians...), and is not so overly annoying like Pewdiepie and the likes...though no millionaire either I guess ... Yet I rather play games after work than watchign an LP of it. Sometimes I do if I am really bored though, and the LP needs to be fun or informative. Or a nostalgic trip like watching a Half-Life LP...or a truly bad game (like Limbo of the Lost) Now I still ahven't pre-ordered Witcher 3 though ... read the books, even tried to play the games once more before but...I don't know, I am not really hyped anymore for some reason. But I'll nevertheless play the game. As long as it tells is story better then the last book of the Sapkowski-Story, and keeps Ciri at a bare minimum (what an annoying brat, I was glad whenever Sapkoswki got back to the Geralt-Plot or Yennefer)
-
I have no Geralt ... I mostly just use Sapkowskis ...
-
Just a minor issue, as I don't really care about the sabre-cats anyway (boring animations!). All in all, I am just mightily glad the mod gets continued and hopefully improved. And it would be cool if you keep it somewhat "lorefriendly" or simply "not too over the top", if that makes sense (some Oblivion-mods come to my mind here... Keep it up, I am looking forward where you take the mod
