  1. oh, I got it. Yes, you can't do that unfortunately

Sad ; ; oh well I'll keep messing with things until I blow something up XD. I never really liked animating in school but fortunately swimming doesn't have to be amazingly fluid since there is no combat and likely wont be swimming with a deathclaw like dolphins lol. Playing around with an idea for a mod large but simplistic so not worried about going at it solo and had an idea involving what I'm trying to do (this isn't for all deathclaws unless someone wants that later on).

I saw the right turn you were talking about I didn't notice it because I toggle ground off right off when I enter full preview and didn't notice the change. So not only does it turn to the right it also angle upward rather than being parallel to water surface. All because of the non accum >< tempted to take mirelurk anim and tweak it XD

    Thanks,

    Geoff

  2. If I break the parent and reparent after changing will that break anything?

I didn't understand what you mean. Do you mean if you remove the skeleton as parent of the deathclaw mesh? if it's so, then nothing bad happens since it's not the mesh which is animated but the skeleton.

I mean the bones are on a chainlink system and the non accum armature and another bone in the pelvis are the parent to all so rotating either rotates everything. If I break the parent I could rotate the non accum and reparent once in position. But not sure if that would break the skeleton.

  3. Awesome thanks! I think I see what you mean about the orientation it looks like I need to adjust that so that the swim is actually parallel and not diagonal XD. Hmm maybe I should ask you opinion while I'm here about the other motion anims. I am trying to keep it rather reptilian should I make a backward anim? I have my ideas for idle, right and left. But think crocodile I've never seen one swim backwards.

EDIT: So not quite sure what I should mess with in the kf to alter the non accum orientation (was looking at the quaternion rotation) but thought I would jump in blender instead and if I adjust the non accum bone it rotates all. If I break the parent and reparent after changing will that break anything?

  4. If you want, attach the file so tomorrow I can take a look

EDIT: by the way, just for curiosity. If you take the dog swimming animation and check the preview of the animation playing, even if the skeleton is different and the creature will be obviously distorted, you still will see the animgroup Forward is triggered >>> at this point I'm inclined to think there's something wrong in your kf

Most likely there is something wrong since the few tuts I used didn't finish where I needed it too. Like setting the actual locomotion I used Blender and locrot the first frame and the last frame I moved some distance and locrot that spot and it works in blender and nifskope but I know there has to be something I did wrong.

EDIT: It's a very rough anim at the moment wanted to get it workin' before adding more fluidity to it. swimmtforward_first.kf was the original kf before tweaking a few things.

  5. I see that Forward_Swim I have been referencing Lakelurk's anims which is just Forward. My swim anim shows up in the animation tab but doesn't show the animgroup. Thanks for pointing that out about the dog Forward_Swim the tuts I have read are useful to an extent to much vague info a lot of the times however never mentioning variations in headers other then Forward, Backward, TurnRight, TurnLeft, idle, and Fast variants..

  6. Hello! Toying around with creating swim animations for Deathclaw and have a test swimmtforward.kf made but before I continue making more I tried bringing it into the geck and even though I have everything setup properly NiControllerSequence named Forward, file path correct, and Swims is checked. The animation appears in the animation list for deathclaws but not the Forward in AnimGroup. The Animation also does not (cannot play without the animgroup showing?) play. Which raised the question can I not add custom anims for creatures that by default do not have such animations? Do I have to make a script attached to the deathclaw for a new animgroup for swimming? If so does this require NVSE I prefer not to use it I hate making mods with requirements beyond DLC.

    Thanks,

    Geoff

  7. Looks nice! Just curious,Did you assemble yourself or did you have a local shop do it? Also it looks pretty close to my system.I just used a I-7 cpu and NVidia cards.Hope you enjoy.

I did it myself. Not an easy task when you have bear paws for hands XD. I wasn't impressed with the i7 specs over the i5. Yeah if I had thought about it (3D never really crossed my mind) I would have ended up with a Nvidia Titan so I could test out 3D on my monitor but not really an issue I love the 290x I got and it has HD3D just can't use it on my ASUS monitor. Besides I would be to uncomfortable wearing 3D glasses over my regular glasses, don't care what they claim comfort wise XD.

  8. Thanks! Those are pretty nice but no need for it my second monitor is kinda like my IM window XD. I run skype etc in it and have all my desktop icons on it so my gaming monitor is clutter free lol. I have no idea what I would do with 4 monitors.

  9. damn I am super jelly. How much did it costs in the end?

Rounded off $3500 with all the extra goodies. Lovin' my ASUS VG248QE monitor might get another for the second monitor using a Samsung Syncmaster I had in the closet currently (the one on the left in the pic is a Lenovo I was using, the samsung is the far right monitor that's not on).

  11.

Well if I have the money and nothing else to get and it being the first time getting/building/having a "big kid" PC I kinda wanted to go all out on it lol. And now that I am actually ending up with more than I originally thought figured why not.

EDIT: Another idea is a liquid cooled system? Thoughts and remember overkill isn't an issue (I don't think anyway lol) only over budget XD

EDIT 2: This is currently what I have in mind http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/2fMso

If money isn't a issue why go not go i7 3770k(4770k not recconmended cpu)

Why not go custom made ASUS AMD290x DCII(4gb vram 512mbit) $500(superior in everway for les moeny) or even nvidia 780ti(low on bandwith and vram 3gb) $700?

Those TITANS and 780ti btw won't come near xfire 290x performance also for alot less money.

32gb is just waste of money 16gb is enough for next 3years.

Just curious doesn't the Asus 290x use directx 11.2? if so isn't that a windows 8.1 thing? Kinda refusing to go win 8 for compatibility. If not that is a very sexy GFX card. Not getting a Titan to costly. I am leaning towards going with just the 16gb to start. I am curious though what the differences are with the memory so many to choose from and large price variances even though they are quad packs. Like the Corsair Dominators vs the corsair vengeance like a $100 difference for the quad pack but no clue why.

    Thanks!

  13.

I find it much easier and faster to install the OS from a USB flash drive, I can install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 in less than 10 mins from start to desktop on my SSD.  I do have a Blu-ray drive for movies and possibly future games when they are too large for DVD's.  I prefer hard copies in case I have no internet to download them.  Also my DVD-RW drive is over 6 years old and it still works like a champ today, lol.

I used to prefer hard copies but then I realized I'm a game hoarder and was running out of room XD. Not to mention I got into the expensive habit of buying the limited collector editions that came with statues or weapon replica's etc. I got an expensive ass statue with a POS game I had high hopes for (SWTOR) that helped me to rethink things lol.

How do you get Win 7 ult x64 on a USB anyway?

  14. Don't forget  the optical drive.

Yeah it slipped my mind thinking about an external since I rarely ever use it. Games are pretty much all downloadable now so no real point to em other then getting the OS on the system etc.

OMG that is an awesome idea! Yay! Indeed I can use my current one nice! It's almost brand new as I said I rarely used it.

  15.

Am I forgetting about a soundcard? I mean sound would be nice and all haha!

No need for that, back in the day, sound cards were a must to offload the CPU, but ever since 2006, it's not really needed unless you plan to do audio editing and such.  Don't waste your money on it when the sound from mobo's these days are pretty good or even do what I do, let your GPU handle the sound via HDMI, I game on my LG Cinema 3D 55" 1080p 3D TV and the sound is great when it goes through my surround sound system.

Yeah while not a 3D tv (my eyes can't handle it sadly) I will be gaming on my 55" Samsung HD and surround system. Right now I dual 2 HD 20" LCD screens which I set up when I was going through 3d design and animation classes. Drooling thinking about the next fallout.

While the GTX 660 is a respectful GPU, it's 192 bit interface is it's Achilles Heel.  It will start to choke in higher resolution, even at 1080p when you play very graphic intense games.  I would personally go for the EVGA GTX 760 FTW when OC'ed is faster than even a GTX 680 with a mild OC (~100 MHZ) and the 256 bit interface will be a champion for 1080 and above gaming and has more VRAM for when Fallout 4 will come as we all know, ENB and such will make it's way there and it's good to future proof too.  You can always get a second GTX 760 to SLI and even outperform a single GTX Titan for almost half the cost of one when both cards prices are included.  If you do decide to get another GPU to SLI, you will need to upgrade to a 800W+ PSU to be good.

Oh crap haha I was looking at the wrong one yeah the 760 was the one you recommended at the start even bookmarked the page XD. so need to fix that huh XD

  18. I played with win 8 for a few minutes but seeing as it wasn't my laptop I couldn't try changing anything without being bitched at lol. Can it go to a classic layout? I did not like the scrolling screen crap? I'm really diggin' the SSD!

EDIT: I've also read that win 8 has a lot of compatibility issues with games? That was another determining factor for me leaning towards win 7.

  19. Very nice. Getting a little giggity thinking about building one to be honest XD. But like I said my techie mumbo jumbo is laughable. I know I need a CPU, HDD, Gfx card, RAM, motherboard, Power unit (have it unless I go bigger but the card you pointed out seemed pretty nice), Operating System (win 7 most likely) and a case.

CPU - Intel i5 (read i7 not much of a performance difference but cost more)

    Harddrive - 1TB whatever?

    Motherboard - no clue

    Power Unit - Corsair 600w

    RAM - 16gb

GFX Card - The one you mentioned

    OS - Win 7

Case - Prolly something sick looking lol I kinda wanna be superficial on this part XD

Fill me in on what you think a good build would be with a budget of $1000-$1500.

    Thanks!

  20. Awesome! I was also thinking about building or out right buying a gaming PC. I could probably build one but with my luck I would screw something up lol. I was looking at some but have no clue to the quality of the brands I was looking at I think it was a Cybertronpc looked awesome but the single review says he doesn't see how it has such a high price tag considering a couple of the components are rather enexpensive. Kinda refuse to look at alienware to hyped up and to many fanboys lol no offence to anyone sporting a hardon for them.

    Thanks!
