  1. You may want to add this for TTW Vurt's Flora Overhaul

Otherwise there will be Tree LOD bugs.

Also, might it be possible to show us your current load order?

Other than that, thanks for the write-up!

My current load order is a little different than provided here (as always with my guides) as I use some mods not listed here. The reason for that is each Fallout NV install is different. It depends on your system capabilities and how much your machine can handle. Plugin max is different for everyone. Some people can handle the 140 max, others can't go that high or they start getting bugs. I also have some other mods that have been merged, and some that have been converted from Fallout 3.

  2. Wait, what... how is that even possible. USKP has both Skyrim.esm and Update.esm as masters, how did you even manage to load it before Update.esm?

The only way I can think of is if he's manually installing his mods, and not using a manager.

In which case, this would be his missing master problem.

  3. I have tested it thoroughly. THIS setup. Substitute mods at your own risk. I'm not familiar with SPERG, or Isis. Pretty sure if they were semi-reliable that I would have tested them.

The guide has quite a bit of a challenge, as well. Especially if you crank up the difficulty, and include SkyRe's Enemy AI and Enemy Scaling options. That, plus PerMa's combat overhaul, combined with iNeed's requirements (and hindrances) for food, water, and sleep ...

Lets just say that I play on Legendary with this setup. I save very very frequently ;) You probably should, too.

It's only been up for a few months, and in that time has undergone 3 revisions to fix bugs, swap out mods, add mods, add tweaks, clarify instructions. My guide was actually somewhat inspired by STEP's format. (All 3 of my guides are). However, the reason I wrote them? I found that STEP's setup was a little more taxing on a system than it needed to be. I did some digging around, and found mods that have VERY similar functionality to A LOT of the mods they use... but seem to not have near the performance impact (Pure Weather over CoT, Relighlighting Skyrim, so on and so forth).

I spent my first 2 years modding struggling to find a good setup of mods that were performance friendly, had the functionality that I wanted, and were stable. This guide is the result of a total of 4 years of my personal modding experience, coupled with input from several people here at LL.

It's immersive. It's beautiful. It's functional. And it's 99% stable if you follow my directions exactly.

Yes, I am aware that there are some images that are missing. I'm working on gettin new ones taken, and still changing a few things around. However, I just finished 2 other major guides (TTW and Morroblivion) so I'm taking a week or so to relax and enjoy some gaming.

Thank you for your interest :) I hope it serves you well. Many of us are here to help you along the way should you have any questions.

    Just adding my voice to the minor chorus of "slight problem";

I *mostly* followed the guide to step Five (I leave out a few mods, but I wouldn't think leaving them out would cause this) but when I start a new game I get to the Helgen Keep door (either one) and I eat a CTD...here is the funny part - this kills all my other saves as well. Saves made before *any* mods were activated.

I mean that when I try to load any save it goes to the load screen (breifly) and boom CTD. Papyrus is apparently not logging anything despite me having it turned on.

Now I've thought whether "Alternate Start" (or whatever it's called) may be required(?)

Anywho - I've torn my Skyrim folder apart trying to figure out something - as of yet no fixes posted here or eslewhere have aidded me, not wanting to clutter this up further - so I dunno...

Edit: nothing against this guide or the author (I'm sure it's a mistake on my end) but still irritating

Yeah, if it's killing ALL of your saves, there's a bigger issue at hand.

It should be noted that Phase 5 is mostly texture and weather overhauls. Which means that this problem was caused by either something not done properly earlier in the guide (phase 2 is my guess), or you're not using MO which makes my directions impossible to follow to the letter.

Alternate start IS required for my setup, as is NOT USING the vanilla start. HDT PE wreaks havoc on that staring sequence for some reason.

    Thank you for the responses Anatriax and ritualclarity;

For note the only mods I am/was leaving out at that point in the guide were "Alternate Start" and the two fog mods at the end of Phase 5.

(Yeah I tried the beginning with HDT on just to see...t'was hilarious.)

However now I remeber I did have a language hicckup in phase 2 - namely the part around USKP.

I *think* I am doing it right but becasue I'm using NMM instead of MO I'm not entirely sure....[Nope scratch that I'm pretty sure I'm messing up this step]

And nope I don't know EXACTLY what I'm doing to compound matters further. (Self depreciating jab)

Anyway gonna take another crack at it later, but thank you anyway for the help(from both of you) and guide!

This guide is not designed to work with NMM, and therefore the steps won't be the same. That would require me to write a whole separate guide for NMM, and i just won't do that.

If you plan on using my guide, MO is essential.

If you are concerned about mod priority order? Install the mods in the exact order that I have listed. As RitualClarity posted above in RED LETTERS (and is in the original post) Do not deviate from my guide, unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing.

Exactly Anatriax, even I have to second guess any changes I might do and inquire (and have ;)) to the possible outcomes. Anatriax has done extensive testing over and over again to be sure her advise is full and complete. Her's are the most complex and complete tutorials taking someone through the entire setup from installing the game to various computer settings.

Yup. The only thing I've found that are more complex/complete than my guides is STEP... and that's a whole team of people working on ONE guide. Granted, most of them know WAY more about modding than I do... but I've read/heard of so many problems with people following STEP that it's kind of frightening.

I wouldn't even think about trying that setup. Especially since I know from (bad) experiences that I truly dislike some of the mods that are a part of their guide.

I respect the team for what they do, and they've helped me solve multiple issues of my own... but still.

Can you post your load order?

My personal load order is not going to help you at all. That's something you have to run LOOT for, and tweak it as needed.

    The reasons mine won't work:

    1) I have personal mods that I've made that I cannot (and will not) upload, because they use assets from other games and I'm not getting in trouble for that.

    2) I have about 250 armors merged into two .esp files

    3) I have other mods merged in a similar manner, so you won't know what you're looking at

    4) I have old mods in my load order that have been banned by both LL and Nexus, and would not like to advertise which mods those are.

If you have questions about what your load order should be? Feel free to post in the Technical Support and the guru's here will help you diagnose any problems you may have.

If you are concerned about mod priority order? Install the mods in the exact order that I have listed. As RitualClarity posted above in RED LETTERS (and is in the original post) Do not deviate from my guide, unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing.

  7. Probably too many script heavy mods (OBIS / RND / CoT)

That, or you haven't optimized your textures and you're running out of VRAM.

Also: RND is outdated. Use iNeed now. Pure Weather is a more lightweight solution to weather mods (1-2 plugins, vs the several needed for CoT + Patches; also less scripts as it's based off of vanilla weather systems)

  8. I don't use smash. Never had. Just bash. I'll look into smash, though.

So I have just cleaned half the mods that were dirty... And loot still say they are dirty... Dafuq? Also... I have 9 frames... and my comp is onpar with yours. and I followed the guide. Note this is just the first startup and it was just during the cart ride to helgen...

Sometimes mod organizer will kick the cleaned mods out to the overwrite mod. Check there for the cleaned versions.

As for your FPS issues? It's hard to diagnose without an exact load order and mod list, as well as your skyrim.ini, skyrimprefs.ini, and enblocal.ini settings.

  9. Let me ask it this way then. So are you saying a single gtx 960 4gb can get me a solid 60fps in skyrim with the enb stuff, civil war mods, bigger battles, ect? And whats the chances of the gtx 960 being able to max out fallout 4 with a few mods?

Look through my guide. I run that guide, full texture mods, ENB, all that... on the rig listed in the beginning of the guide. I roughly get 50-55 FPS constant.

Now that's A LOT OF CRAP running constantly.

    Fallout 4? pft. Bring it.
