That's how I am, and hence why I can't work at a shelter or foster them. They won't ever leave! As per decision making on which one, take your time. I had to grow into liking my cats (too busy looking at the silly obvious stuff, instead of what's inside... just like with women, sigh.), and they've become the best cats I ever had.

That's truly awful. You should be ashamed. (Yet it's funny as hell.)

Should have gone to the local bookstore now that I think about it. They're really good about getting obscure stuff (Amazon knew about this one, but didn't stock it, no surprise), and it keeps the money local, supposedly. Shrug. Maybe I'll remember next time. -

Not super pissed over this, but certainly miffed. Book: $23.99 Shipping: $4.99 Seriously, folks? 21% of the price of the book just to get it here? Really? -
Nope. I did nothing with the Dawnguard quest, or Hakron. Though the mention of vampires... I think I was in a vampire cave when I activated the mod, come to think of it, and I seem to remember something about "Make sure you're in the 'open world' Skyrim, before activating a mod", or something like that. Movarth's Lair, northeast of Morthal; that's where I was. Incidently, upon leaving the lair, even at the earliest point, it's still dark during the day. I have to go back to a save prior to that to get daylight again. I have not tested the "daylight again" save extensively enough to tell if this truly is the fix.

So I just downloaded a mainscreen and music mod from here: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/33329-menu-theme-sexy-boobs-and-music-updated-120714/ 5th one down, "Main menu theme V 3" Went to Nexus to learn where to put the files. "Data folder"... Hmmm, says I. Backup time! Except, that's odd, these files are all "new", and there is no "Meshes/Interface" folder, or "Music" folder, or "Textures/Interface" folder in the Data folder. Hum. Well, at least I know what to delete if something goes wrong. Installed. Permanent night. Dark, dark, dark, even during daylight hours. Crap. Deleted it all. Game loads fine, but: Aaaand it's still perma-night. Clock says 9AM, 10AM, 2PM, but it's dark, burning lanterns and all. Any clue what I might have messed up? Thanks all. Think it might be a texture problem, as the characters face is dark, even with a torch equipped, and burning bright in her hand. Well, hell. Having loaded up an earlier daylight save, it's daylight during the day again, mod back in place. I dunno.

You sure? I thought I smelled racism lite.

Kindly ignore the logo from the organization it came from, but I agree with them wholeheartedly:

I share some of the opinions here, in particular that dating today is something of a joke. It's a joke for numerous reasons, one of the strongest of them having to do with the fact that it's been reduced to being called "playing the game". If one of the most important decisions you can make in life has been reduced to a "game", then something is seriously wrong with society. Unfortunately, there are many people out there who hear that it's a game, and treat it as such, hence why you must be so damn careful about who you trust. As per expectations, there's no reason not to have high expectations, just be prepared to wait for the right one. In the mean time, though, don't let those high expectations get so high as to be unobtainable, or you'll be waiting your whole life. You have to decide what's important enough to be critical, and what isn't quite as important as you originally thought it was. I'll give you two examples. 1. I love blondes. It would be amazing if "Ms. Right for me" was blonde. You know what, though? It's about who, far more than what. Blonde is a "nice to have", not a necessity. 2. Smoking absolutely disgusts me. If she smokes, I don't care if every other requirement is fulfilled, I'll be moving on. Having said that, that might be the wrong choice. My grandparents are together, and one of them smoked when they met, but quit smoking before things got serious. They've been married a LONG time now, and are seriously, head over heels in love with each other, even after all these years. One of the things my Dad did when he was deciding was make a list. He sat down and wrote down the things that he felt important, the must haves, the nice to haves, and the not really necessary's. Then he applied that list to potential mates, and came up with Mom. They, too, have been happily married for many years. Take a look at "successful" couples, and really look at not just what they have, but what they have to do to keep it. Relationships take work. The difference is, if it's right, it doesn't feel like work. As my best friend told me once: "With every other woman I ever dated, it was work. With my wife, it's easy."

Yes, and no. If you look at the quality of wood (for building, making boards, etc.) today versus 50 or 100 years ago, you'll find that the "new growth" trees haven't grown as long (duh), and are thus of lesser quality for building things than the old stock. More rings, more solid wood? Something like that. It takes a year to make a ring, regardless. You can't rush "good" wood. More trees? Perhaps. But definitely younger trees, getting cut before they have a chance to mature, with saplings planted in their place. It's renewable in name only if we don't allow the time for the resource to fully recover.

Ah, yes. "I was only 19", aka "A Walk in the Light Green", by Redgum. Brings shivers, and I wasn't even there.

http://vietnamvetradio.com/ 1960's-1970's songs that the Vietnam veteran would recognize. Not political/religious, strictly speaking, but it's for the veterans of the war. They don't play any anti-war songs, as they are a bit biased. As they should be, given their audience. More about helping the guys remember their young manhood, and the biggest event thereof (and friends and comrades, alive and dead), and for some, their lives.

Sounds lame compared to some of the above but I do hate it when we are C-L-O-S-E-D, putting the finishing lock on the door, and some jackass pulls up to the fuel dock and asks if we're still open. Open your eyes, dumbass. The covers are on the reels, the flags are down the door is closed, the locks are on. What the fuck do YOU think the answer to that question is??? Unfortunately, the answer is exactly what my co-worker said: Of course we're open [smile]. [Go through whole rigamarole of opening the place up again for his three drops of fuel, run the credit total on the machine - again - for one measly report, close everything back up - again - and RUN away, before someone else pulls up. Then leave 20 minutes to a half hour after closing time.] As another co-worker pointed out "Those two would be here all night if you let them". She's right. She also pointed out that "I hate the ones who call up and ask how late we're open for fuel... and then show up five minutes before closing, when we've already shut down just about everything, and are there 20 minutes later doing final closing stuff. We ought to start telling them a half hour earlier so there isn't the rush at the end of the day right at closing time resulting in getting out a half hour late, as usual." Right again. I understand the whole "this is seasonal" deal, and we only have so much time to make money. It still pisses me off when, like a previous job, I end up getting off a while after originally thought. Still, at least here it's minutes and half hours instead of solid hours's worth of, keep taking calls until we drop dead, and oh-by-the-way, be at work at 6 the next morning, even when you went to Timbuktu on a transfer the night before and got back at 4am. (That's an exaggeration, but still.) -

Law & Disorder / Civilization & Discontents UK surveillance “worse than 1984,” says new UN privacy chief

Privacy is over. Fixed. The only way to privacy? Get off The Grid. No license, no passport, no internet, no doctors. No guns (well, unless you can find a state that still allows you to have one without undue checking into "who are you, what's your life history, what are you likely to do in the near and distant future based on stats?" (good luck there), cash only, no income tax reports. Make your own weapons (crossbows, spears, etc), and learn to live off the land. Lots off work, little reward. Other than, of course, the ability to say when you die "I lived my life the way I wanted to live it, and there wasn't a damn thing the establishment could do to change that because they didn't know I existed." -

In all honesty, this is actually a very accurate description of how IGS works. Similar systems, Inertial Navigation Systems, have been in use for decades, and are very accurate. A nice backup to GPS for planes and ships. The trick is getting the setup right, so the system knows its initial starting point within a very small window of accuracy. Any errors will be magnified greatly as the unit moves away from its initial starting point, plus when corrections are made; they "stack up" so to speak. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=f95_1422455171

Okay, so heartwarming, and "old people knowing how to stay young at heart", are more appropriate, but I still find it funny, if only because so few people do it.
