  1. I get distracted by other games for a few days and return to find this thread abounding with wonderful new stuff. :D

Anyhow, I'm abstaining from voting, because anything PT makes is going to be both sexy and hilarious. ;) (Although I do have to say that if we ever get to see Tamrielzapoppin, I'm totally buying front-row tickets.)

  2. Skyrim's environments basically are the frozen mountains and the temperate plains in the middle. That's about it. There's no any other variation in environment. Remember' date=' Cyrodiil is smack dab in the middle of Tamriel, so when you go to the north, you shift from the perfect silly forested areas to snow-covered peaks. When you go to the East, it shifts to swampy lands. When you go south, it generally shifts to a more tropical vibe. When you go west, it changes to fertile, rolling fields full of tall grass. There's a variety in Oblivion that I definitely miss in Skyrim. Even Morrowind had a bigger variety. Skyrim is just boring. Even the lore is boring. Plus like I mentioned like twice already, Skyrim's gray and brown puts me off.[/spoiler']

Agreed. More than anything else, this is what annoys me about Skyrim. Environmentally, it just feels so boringly homogenous. In contrast, I honestly don't see how anyone can make the same complaint about Oblivion. There's a hell of a lot more variety in Cyrodiil, even if it does sometimes feel a bit artificial. And as for colors, well, whoever decided "realistic" meant "everything needs to dirty and brown and grey" should be shot. Repeatedly.

  3. After playing Skyrim, I can't imagine seriously going back to Oblivion. Skyrim is far from perfect, of course, but the world in general feels more fully realized and alive. Oblivion just seems dated in comparison. As ever more impressive Skyrim mods start showing up, the gap is only going to widen.

  4. Totally impractical and totally fun -- I love 'em. :)

I'm almost feeling inspired to get back to finishing the slave collar I started in Blender, lol. Skyrim needs more "toys." ;)

  5. The latest loli-fied incarnation of my Imperial agent:

I used Jiitek's UNP loli race, which works quite nicely, along with some Tera hair and Hentai's Karliah armor. Sword by Jaysus, eyepatch and buckler by people on Nexus whom I forget, but their mods are super cool. :)

Her face still needs a little fine-tuning, of course, and I have to see if I can fix the eyepatch, but still...I'm liking her thus far. :D

  6. I like Nexus because it's a convenient, user-friendly modding resource. It has its shortcomings, of course, but IMO they don't come close to outweighing its usefulness. Speak softly, don't mention that you have a big stick, and all should be well. ;)

  7. Look who found his way to the Oblivion screenie section. :P I'm on an extended hiatus from Oblivion, but I'd like to share some of my pics. Bit of a stroll down memory lane, lol.

  8. I agree that attitude is important. Like I've said before, I personally haven't had much trouble on Nexus, and in all honesty, most of the people I've seen get banned there deserved it. That being said, though, some of the staff can come across as openly snarky and hostile (as astymma aptly put it, some of them could use a little training in social interaction). They ban people for being snarky and hostile -- and rightly so -- but then are snarky and hostile themselves? It goes both ways, or at least it should.

It comes down to attitude. If you're going to run a tight ship, fine, but be civil about it. You don't need to make snippy remarks about how you've had to clean up messes and hand out bans, nor do you follow people to other sites after you've banned them. That's just freaky.

(TBH, I'm still resentful about being threatened with the banhammer for telling off a flamer. Should I have kept my cool and simply reported it? Sure. Did I deserve to be threatened with punishment for defending a modder? I'mma say no.)

  9. I haven't done much with Skyrim or the CK lately, but last night I had an idea for a mod that rekindled my interest. I've been re-reading the Abhorsen books by Garth Nix, and it suddenly occurred to me that a mod that enabled you to play as an Abhorsen would be epic. It's a stupidly ambitious idea for a newbie, of course. I'd have to custom-make a sizable player home, a new sword, and a new armor set. I'd also have to make necromantic bells usable as weapons, which would involve new animations and sound effects, too.

It sounds even more stupidly ambitious now that I've typed it out, lol. Still, I'm intrigued, and if nothing else, it'll help me find my way around Blener, Nifskope, and the CK. :D

  10. I've simply heard too many not-very-encouraging things about Origin, although to be fair, Steam has had a comparatively long time to "mature," so to speak. Still, competition in the marketplace is all well and good, but when you've got something established and fairly reliable like Steam (it's always worked for me, at any rate :P) going up against something new that, as far as I've heard, is a big POS, well...I can't see many people wanting to go with the unimpressive new guy.

  11. No sniper rifles? Seriously? That's more than a little disappointing, especially considering that I typically go infiltrator. It's not like the combat has been the best part of the series, but still...you can't just drop a class-defining weap. Maybe it's only missing in the demo?

  12. Well if they rip the meshes and textures then it can be a copy right issues' date=' but with the witcher, they may be very cool with it.

    [/quote']

Apparently the people who made The Witcher have given explicit permission for modders to use Witcher resources (provided there's no pecuniary gain involved). I don't see the people behind Tera behind as accommodating, but we'll see.

  13. I personally want to see all sorts of "lore-friendly" and "non lore-friendly" mods' date=' as many as people can stand to make... my enjoyment in these games comes from finding the perfect outfit for the perfct model and the perfect location, then taking a screenshot and starting all over again.

    [/quote']

I couldn't agree more. I want to see as many well-made mods as possible, lore-friendly or not, so that I can get back to the strangely relaxing work of setting up/taking screenshots. :)
