  1. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

Third day and I still give a fuck ? The hell, it hasn't happened since they tried to kick out that old lady in my town out of her house to build a parking lot on her place...  Re-reading GabeN's AMA i keep thinking his little story about blisters in his eye may be true. I mean the guy has got to be under some sort of painkillers, his answers are that funny at least...   PS : Not a single post in Steam forums about the new policies, even the one I subscribed to are gone. I thought GabeN was doing something about that ?
  2. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

No, wait, that's the point there. I'm not god but statistically speaking, how likely is it to be forced to go to the surgeon the DAY something like this happen ? I mean it could, after all I once found a 50€ bill in a trash can so I'm aware probabilities are always funny. But at the exact same time Valve's getting fire for their new policies, dude CEO is conveniently away from his cell phone until things calm down a bit. And when he comes back from his surgery he "stays 2 hours in a coffee shop" to answer shit on reddit ?  And no, obviously there isn't right now anyone at Valve qualified enough to "handle this", that's actually the reason what everyone has been whining about the last few days in case you also were struck by sudden hermmm, "blister in your eye".
  3. Books, recently Patrick's Rothfuss Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear. Made me think about a lot of stuff, especially what it really means to be in love. I sat down helpless for hours after finishing the first book, and couldn't wait the morrow to buy the second, purchased my first ever eBook that night, and I'm gonna get the actual book too. yeah that much.  Ah and the Daredevil tv show. Didn't think I'd get that immersed in a comic based thing, but the way it treats child slavery, rape, prostitution and handicap really got to me.
  4. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

That's a joke right ? The CEO of a company launching the most controversial system on his platform right before going to surgery and not being able to check the internet while it literally explodes ? Is he trying to add some fuel on the fire right there ? I thought the modding scene took enough piss as it was, but holy shit this is simply insulting, his half-assed attempt to hide the insult even worsens the whole damn thing. What is this, a crusade ?
  5. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

There is actually ! And there are even different versions like the "english" fingers ! I forgot where I saw it though ...
  6. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

Would also agree if not for the fact that there are mods that require more than just time and effort, but also investment. Most of the time it's taken care of by funding it between the mod authors so the cost is reduced, but for something like Faalskar or Interesting NPCs... I think mods like these with obvious actual costs like registering studios and equipment, and so on, do deserve donations, or at least more than they receive.receive. Wrye, El and ianpatt work in big to huge software companies very much relied to games (from what I've picked up over the years) and use their company's equipment and sometimes even code. They are the ones who refuse donations as that'd make them cross the reaaally thin legal line they drew themselves.  It's not the same thing with voiced mods requiring thousands of hours of recording/editing/maybe travels to meet up with the team. That's why donating could become important in what Valve lied about being interested in (helping modders to mod bigger). And I think, on the Nexus especially, donating options are either too limited, or not apparent enough.
  7. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

Not only this, but those modders who were approached with their invitations to this bullshit are freaking human thermometers. If Valve wanted this to be an "honest" business venture, they would have talked about it instead of spawning it from whatever hell it was born in. Instead they invite a circle of known modders like Shezrie and Chesko, all smiles, and tell them to go be cannon fodder. Just thinking about how this thing could stop modders from modding altogether like Chesko's thinking of right now is enraging me. You don't fuck up a community as selfless as the modding scene only to get easy coin off of their asses, it's just evil man.  I also don't believe the modders are completely to blame even if one could say they're the ones promoting this bullshit by selling their mods on Steam right now. It's first class manipulation, made by taking advantage of some dudes who took on a hobby some years ago and made a name for themselves, it's a fucking pyramid scheme if I've ever seen one.
  8. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

It's hard to produce estimate considering the early stage of the bullshit (decided to refer to this crap by simply "bullshit" from now on), but I don't agree with the fact modders on Steam would get more than others get with donations. Maybe this was the wake up call for actual donations to happen, and for donations and crowd funding to become more obvious in mod descriptions everywhere. But looking at the rates archetype, plus taking into account the terrifying information circulating around that the 400$ threshold Valve and Beth will take before starting to give you your percentage resets every fucking month... The earnings would be so miserable that they'd not in any way help anyone to upgrade his PC or help in whatever significant way his modding capacity. And modders can actually demand donations, this was accepted legally 2 years ago ! Maybe not "demand" but making donations procedures easy and available on their mod pages is something that they can do, and it does works for a number of modders.  HOWEVER, his reputation would become so tarnished, so irrevocably tainted by this whole bullshit, that donations, if donations he had before, would almost stop. I don't think a lot of people in their right mind would donate to an author who's selling his works on Steam.   Which means, simply put :  Pros - Modder is paid for his work "thanks" to the paywall.  Cons  - Modder is paid a fucking RIDICULOUSLY small amount, so ridiculous that           - He can't increase his modding capacity in any way thanks to it while            -Loosing credibility to the proven majority (maybe I'm being an ass, but looking at the outrage it looks like the majority of players are against this bullshit)          - Loosing his chance to get any raise on his donations          -Restraining the number of modders he can work with in the future (if Fores is setting an example, this is going to be Sparta versus Athenes on the modding scene).            I'm noticing a whole lot of points in the "cons" category, it's just not worth it, and I'm sad about the modders who jumped in this thinking it was a good opportunity, while not thinking about the long term consequences. And Valve KNEW this, that's why they picked modders and asked them not to reveal it before the whole bullshit began, they knew what kind of outrage would spawn from all this, they're sacrificing modders like Chesko so they can feel the heat and move accordingly. I'd be happy normally if idiots got what they deserved for being idiots, but in this particular case it's modders, who are being literally raped without even noticing it, simply because they're not used to mercantilism as this was only their hobby. Chesko is only the first in line, who's to say how many modders will give up modding altogether when they realize they're being played and that their reputation is forever fucked ?  I don't think it's the end of modding or whatever apocalyptic nutjobs are saying all over the place, but it sure is going to turn everything to shit.

Top right corner of Shiteam, little tab, open it, choose languages inside.
  10. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

Good occasion to start learning Polish with Witcher 3 coming out soon
  11. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

Wait what ?    Ah yeah they edited the page, html must be messed up, you need to copy paste the link to google and click on the link with the description written in your language !
  12. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

Not trying to defend the bullshit in any way but to keep the criticism factual and accurate, the miserable amount of money modders receive from mods does not go to their steam wallet but to their actual bank account. Proof here under "payment". Do notice that the rates are nowhere mentioned until the end of the page where they basically tell you "Hey if you wanna know how much money we'll get from your ass, start producing and stop asking so many questions". It's funnier in French.
  13. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

Hey deleting the down vote tab and the stars thingy is kinda silencing it isn't it ? It's like, your government makes a referendum, but silences the total numbers, doesn't share it with journalists, and only speaks of "200 000 people agreed to the motion" instead of giving the percentage. Close enough I say
  14. Is this a good community?

Yeah I can't do that for example, it's better that they frankly forbid us to speak about those subjects, I like my drama too much to not start one when I'm talking about something like this    To the OP, if you're a modder it's the best place to be on the internet. If you're a troll, you're gonna get burned. If you're a weird ass liking too many things which end in "philia" it's a good place too, just don't be that guy and post pictures or open threads about those "philias"...  Overall some rotten apples who can't accept criticism but it's the internet so it's cute. Ah watch out for some threads, last batch of new guys caught a weird virus on one of those and their dicks fell off.
  15. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

      Close enough
  16. Share your Racemenu preset (slot file).

Really good ! Was looking everywhere for a nose like that, thanks
  17. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

Well I don't see how those particular modders on Steam right now deserve "better than nothing" while others who have spent countless more hours working on their mods completely refuse to sell out. I mean ZaZ, let's consider what kind of mods are on the market over there, it's just meshes and textures. Wet and Cold okay, a script heavy mod whose technical support was already flaky on Nexus, I don't even dare to think about how it'll go to sell itself.  If someone like you or Ashal, or skyrimll who make frameworks needing countless updates, animation work, script work, mesh work, even voice acting sometimes (with the according audio editing) went and asked for money I would understand. It'd be even honest, if I had the knowledge that all the money would pass to you of course, and not to Corporation X. But paying 5 dollars to see my breath when it's cold and have a fucked up script equip fur hoods on my NPCs, or see my character make a T-Pose while holding a fishing rod near a river ? I mean come on.
  18. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

Dude Loogie , we all know who gets the money, it's not even the question anymore. But hey, maybe in a week or two they'll introduce a "contributor" system on Steam and you'd get 2 dollars reductions on your game for your hard work.    EDIT : Ohlee shaite, while writing that last sentence I just realized how fucking likely it is to happen. Ohlee. Shaite.
  19. Movie Myths or Reality?

Well I do know directors use devices to make their cars go boom in their movies, I mean it's pretty obvious, what I was wondering about was whether a real car in real life would explode under the same circumstances. I see it's an unlikely scenario though from what you guys are telling me. I saw an accident once when I was a kid, pretty gruesome, on the highway and all that. The car in front of ours went sideways and caught the slope on the border, and literally flew over another car, rolled around and glided for a hundred meters upside down. My dad parked to phone to the police/ambulance whatever, and other people tried to get close to the car. Then flames started spawning from the rear, like huge red flames, no one went near and I'm assuming they were afraid that the car would explode. Of course the guy died, even though my dad kept telling me the contrary, since I was a kid and all that. I keep thinking now that I'm older if people around watching the dude burn weren't under the assumption that cars irrevocably explode when flames appear, because precisely of movies. Maybe the dude could've been easily rescued before the fire spread to the whole car...
  20. Movie Myths or Reality?

I'm always asking myself if cars really explode once they barrel around enough. Does the gasoline in the tank even explode to begin with ? I'd understand flames, but explosions ?
  21. What are you currently listening to?

Wow thanks, that's pretty good, Ratatat never fails      ____________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZu3EUVJ8-4   I'm so disappointed at their new album that I keep listening to their old one... It's the "before was better" week for me.
  22. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

You know a business archetype is sound and solid when even those who use it to gain profit are raped by the creator of said archetype.  On the same subject, meet this genius.    Look at what she's sitting on in the mod gallery ! This is just brilliant, I keep pissing myself.
  23. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

I'm pretty sure if Ashal sorts out one day this donation problem (I think I read that he has a hard time finding a platform that accepts donations made to something akin to a porn website), he'd receive in a month way more money than any modder on Steam in a year. Maybe less than Valve though
  24. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

That spamming thing with the middle finger and DLC written next to it is imho the dumbest thing I've seen on Steam in a long while. And Steam has never seen much clever since it began, so there's that to consider.   _______________ Valve is banning joke modders. Like actual bans.  Sebastian  Il y a 17 minutes This is my alt account, steam is banning accounts that say anything bad about paid workshop from talking in discussions. Be careful! Steam is censoring information againts paid workshop  From the "author" of the I Am Rich joke mod (which added a daedric greatsword which did absolutely nothing). Whatever.
  25. A little warning to mod creators of non adult mods....

Dude click on my link in the post you quoted. 27 dollars for 17 swords I'm not kidding. Plus hey it's a discount, it was at 36 dollars before (almost twice Dragonborn's price when it came out)
