  1. I wouldn't be surprised. The guys at Lost Hills are likely not an Enclave 2.0 just because they don't have their resources. They're already borderline bandits taking technology off of people's hands and leaving them to die, if they're no bolder than that it's probably because they can't afford it.

I really like the idea, if there's another Obsidian Fallout game, of the Western Brotherhood being reduced to almost little more than another raider tribe. With Lost Hills and the other Brotherhood strongholds destroyed by their war with the NCR, there would be little left of them except a few chapters on the frontier - scattered, disorganized, and their codex only half-remembered... basically just wandering thugs attacking poorly defended settlements and lone caravans for scraps of tech. With the new FO4 power-armor, it'd be nice to see them attacking the player and NPCs in beat-up, cludged, and half-assembled Power Armor. From this state, it'd be quite easy to tear them down as a faction and (as an optional quest for the player) build them back up into something that's more adaptable and better suited to the new wasteland.

As for who the Brotherhood in FO4 is, I'd put my hopes on it being the Outcasts, but it's probably Lyon's chapter. The armor (that I've seen) doesn't seem to resemble that of the Midwestern Brotherhood, and it's not entirely clear whether or not they're even canon. The Western Brotherhood is all but eradicated, and unlikely to leave their tech caches behind to be looted by the NCR. Lyon's group most likely originally came east aboard an Airship, so that could explain the presence of one on the East Coast. If the game takes place at the same time, or shortly after, Fallout 3 - then Lyon's group is probably too tied down in D.C. with the rebuilding of Liberty Prime or the fight against the Super Mutants/Enclave to have much of a presence in Boston. The Outcasts, however, outnumbered and out-powered by the D.C. chapter - not to mention being far more aligned with the original mission of hording tech - is more likely to be the ones to move on out of D.C. and try to secure the Institute. Though a clue to it being Lyon's chapter's airship is seen in the name - Prydwen.

    Prydwen_E3_InFlames.png

Prydwen could both be an allusion to "Lyon's Pride" (Pryd = Pride, Lyon's Chapter), as well as it being the name of King Arthur's ship in the welsh poem Preiddeu Annwfn - drawing parallel to the "white knights" image that Lyon's chapter is modeled around.

Also, the Enclave will be back in FO4. Hopefully, it's just a small(ish) band of remnants that act as a faction for side-quests. We've seen both APA MkII parts on the Power Armor customization demonstrations, as well as Eyebots flying around Fenway Park. I'd really like to see if Whitley survived the destruction of Adams AFB, and he could be an important character for giving context and perspective to the player considering how heavily synthetics are going to feature in the story of FO4 and how invested Whitley is in the humane treatment of robots with more advanced AI.

  2. That laser musket looks pretty rad !

Just, the power armor, it's not story locked right ? Like, you won't have access to it only during some missions I hope ? It looks cool, mecha and shit, but dude I wanna carry it with me and go places with it ! They'll make some sort of delivery system like on those old school animes where an airship drops the mecha somewhere, I'm almost sure of it. Just hope there is a lighter version that's, y'know, old school power armor...

  3. 2 playthroughs I think, max, I don't see myself playing the game over and over again like I did witcher 1&2, not because they're better than the 3 but the corridor system was kind of more optimized for the story telling. Like, I'd like to see all the different endings and side quests possibilities, but at the same time I'm getting kinda bored in the whole crafting/contracts thing. It's not repetitive, but for a new playthrough it kinda slows down your progression when you just want to finish things asap and skip the stuff you've already done/seen.

But yeah, still a great game, the kind of stuff you feel really depressed after finishing it, and then play again after a few months because you missed the atmosphere and all.

  4. Do you think we could mod exoskeletons like that power armor from the trailer ???

How cool it'd be to create your own mesh with your own armor ? Already thinking about scripting some sex mods around that, like having some mecha tentacles inside the cockpit of your armors and an orgasm meter and whenever you move the meter would rise with some muffled moaning sounds coming from the armor ...

Okay now I'm thinking about tbbp power armor, laughing like an idiot.

    2

  5.

That might be a bit optimistic.  From Todd's Interview a day or so ago, his team will design the game the way they want first, then let the modders figure out how to get around their designs, which means it's possible that it may be locked to just 4 response options.

I'm interested to see how the dialogue prompts will work on the pc.  Maybe a radial that appears when holding "E" over the NPC and you can drag the mouse over the response?  Seems clunky.

Then the UI may have to be tinkered with, still it's not that much of a deal, maybe an altogether new UI, but it still doesn't mean it's hard locked, if the vanilla setup is there you should normally just be able to add on to it, like in any other Bethesda game since Oblivion and FO3. You get the dialogue interface, and you script your new UI on top of that by unlocking the lines limit if there is one, and then adding visual prompts and linking them to keys.

Talking about keys, I'm almost certain it'll be the arrow keys on the PC, that you can rebind if you want to in the settings menu. That or movement keys, which mean you'd need an initial prompt to "activate" the NPC you're talking to and enter a discussion with it, kind of like, erm, the lockpicking in Skyrim. You "activate" the lock, then direct the thing with your mouse, and can leave the lockpicking screen whenever you want by pushing the action key again.

But it's just details, let's just skip that subject already there's a lot to discuss about the trailers like the new power armor, jetpacks, machine guns on flying helicopters, settlements, that dog, the weapon customization, the crafting system...

By the way, I think there could be thousands of different weapons from the look of the crafting menu. Up to 5 parts seem to be swap-able and changed on a gun, and something tells me the weapons and armors you find in loots or on bodies are randomly generated that way. Fallout games already had a really nice panel of choice for weapons, but with those random bits they'll be fucking rad. Finally, no more 12 identical 10mm pistols in your inventory ... Very Borderlands like.

  6. I also lost my shit when seeing the dialogue menus. I can't think of anything else anymore. I can't sleep, I can't eat. What a disgusting move of Bethesda! How dare they replace the genius one-of-a-kind list format from before. How dare they make dialogue options selectable with hotkeys, instead of scrolling through the menu and select them one by one. We all know that a controller only has four buttons, ergo there will be no circumstance ever where we could have more than four dialogue options.

In all seriousness though, people have always complained about Bethesda's dialogue. Now they try something different and some people lose their collective shit again. We can't have it both ways. If the consensus is that Mass Effect style dialogue is best in RPGs, other companies will copy them. This will not make Beth's dialogue magically better in any way.

The only thing I take away from the trailer is that you can now select dialogue options with hotkeys, which is a welcome addition. Just because there are only 4 choices displayed at any given time, doesn't mean that there can't be more choices.

And I think I don't need to remind anyone that the Oblivion/FO3/FNV/Skyrim vanilla UIs don't show more than four or five dialogue choices as well.

Furthermore, as said countless times it's just prompts. Scripting another prompt with a dialogue entry on top of that should be as easy, if not easier than precedent games. Bethesda already knows the best mods use different dialogue entries, they wouldn't just lock the damn thing without having some structure able to host more dialogue lines than the 4 displayed on the video ... Common sense, common sense.

  7. Dude that real time settlement building looks kind of promising. They're really going down the "playing house" road since the RTS mod on FO3/FNV and Hearthfire. Pretty sure the guy who made RTS has been hired by them since he released the mod, I remember having a lot of fun with that one mod. If vehicles are confirmed at some point, imagine going from settlement to settlement, managing the communities you've built, on your fancy bike...

Pretty interested by the new "feel" of the main character, I mean he's not a lone ranger anymore, he has to build colonies, and it seems like I've seen him get some air support with a smoking grenade in one trailer, where a huge heli comes to pick him up and he just takes the machine gun in the back. I like that, but I also hope at the same time that it is only a "possible road", as in you have the choice between accepting help from whoever those guys are or just playing as a lone wolf, building houses for yourself alone and stuff. Can't see anything that would show otherwise, but as we don't know the story yet, we can't know if it'll lock you forcefully into the "savior" role at some point by having you create communities to continue main quests or something, I'm praying this doesn't happen.

I usually role play FO games are a huge opportunist, taking help whenever it is offered but never giving anything back in return unless there is something down the road for me. When I was in a tight spot financially speaking, I'd never say no to ambushing unsuspecting travelers on the road. Now with their "caravans" system, NPCs travelling between settlements you've built yourself, attacking them would be simply ridiculous lol, I mean you're harming your own business here. At the same time, waiting for income from your cut on the travelling merchants would break entirely my lone wolf gameplay :(

All in all, Howard you cruel bastard show us more already...

I'm not a *fan* of Black Desert, in fact I never play MMOs, let alone Korean ones, but I like certain features of it. Maybe you should shut the fuck up about things you have no idea about.

THIS. We agree then. How about changing "things you have no idea about", but to Fallout 4 which only has a trailer and some minutes of gameplay so far ?

That is called a checkmate, and I so long to read you explain to me how much we know about this game from 3 minutes of actual gameplay. Please though, you're fanboying all over the place for BD, as your profile pictures shows, and as your posts in the Black Desert topic shows. But whatever, let's stop at "you should shut the fuck up about things you have no idea about", there is a clear consensus here.

  9. I kinda hope the family is alive somewhere out in the wasteland and you can find them and horribly and brutally kill them

It's Fallout of course you can and will do that. They would't let an occasion to murder your wife and child pass by.

Bjornk you're a fan of Black Desert, maybe you should just shut the fuck up already about dumbed down games. I'm sure korean mmos require a lot of philosophical considerations before farming goblins for 12 hours or buying a 15$ top hat at the shop.

  10.

It's probably because you're looking at it with the bias of PC master race.  The game is undoubtedly going to sell more on consoles and it'll probably be a bad idea to sell them a video with the fidelity that they'll never get.  Kudos to them for show us how the game will likely look upon release across all platforms.  They also seem relationship with Microsoft that stems all the way back to Morrowind, possibly earlier.

Ah, no you misunderstand me. I also have an Xbox One, it's not the problem here, just that a company would normally want to showcase it's product in the best light possible, and it's obvious using a PC nowadays is the superior option graphics wise if you want to reveal the first images of your new game. Doesn't mean the game would be that different cross platforms, I'm just talking about the cinematic side of the reveal. People already know the E3 is here to create some hype, I just thought it odd not to place all the chips on your side when doing it, like fancy 4k resolution etc.

So I don't understand it but I do appreciate it, shows an uncanny amount of honesty here from game companies. Or some real deep fear for any shitstorm around "downgrade" rumors and trailer comparisons, wink wink. So, safety or honesty ?

The E3 PC show is in ~1hour an 40minutes, might get lucky and see some more footage..  or maybe learn some PC exclusive stuff (like when the CK will be released). Or it might not show up there at all.....

Doubt it, but hey maybe Howard got a nice boner at his last conference so now he'll do more, who knows.

And it's nice to see you again Vioxsis, thought you were gone !

  12.

Well they certainly can't use WASD like they did in Skyrim for selection since you are not locked in dialogue.

Is Todd going to be doing a showcase for PC version like he did for XboxOne?

Probably not before the end of summer, it's already the first time they're doing a press conference and a live showcase (I think ? Dunno, don't remember).

Gotta say I don't understand this trend of showcasing games on Xbox One. Usually you want to show your game can run on the most demanding platform before showing it off on consoles right ? I mean it should be more logical for them to show how good it can look with a good rig in Ultra quality before showcasing the console optimized versions, can't understand it really.

  13.

And it would be very helpful if you could explain which are the clues that point to a very obvious dumbing down of the dialog system.

Your dialogue options get reduced to four buttons and you tell me it's not dumbing down?!

That I don't get, I mean you don't really need more than 4 dialogue options most of the time, plus I'm pretty sure more dialogue will open as in precedent Fallout related to different skills. There's nothing that says it's locked at 4 dialogue lines so far, even if a console controller only has 4 main "action" buttons there could be more than one "set" of 4 dialogue options they could scroll using the left and right triggers.

It's okay being a pessimistic gamer nowadays, with games going the way they're going, but so far we have only a trailer and some pics, nothing much to be "pessimistic" about yet.

  14. Here it goes again

Did they mention any change to the V.A.T.S ? So far in the video it looked exactly the same as FO3 and FNV, I'm okay with good things not changing but improving it a little would be a bonus. I mean it's kind of getting old isn't it ? Like adding cool ricochet options or even separating even more the "parts" so you could blind an opponent for example or just blast off his ears would be pretty neat. 3 identical V.A.T.S in a row, not sure how I'd feel about that, I mean I love that shit but at the same time I don't want it to become a routine.

  15. If anyone hasn't seen the Todd Howard XBox presentation, it has more FO4 game play footage.  What is really striking is the facial expressions of the protagonist and the NPCS.  From what I'm seeing, it is a new chapter in Bethesda game development.  My only 'critique' is the rubbery 'rain coat' look of the clothing I've seen so far.  It all looks water-proof and some of the meshes are obviously Skyrim-esque low poly console friendly.  That makes me think the modified Creation Engine isn't that much more advanced than anything we haven't already seen.  They're using low poly to avoid the performance hit of multiple characters with hi-poly gear.  I'm not bitching (gimme the fucking game already) but Howard's hype about a modified engine isn't matching what I'm seeing as far as meshes go.

No matter how fucking cool the game looks so far, it's still Bethesda lol, of course we're gonna get some work on the meshes and textures. It's not that bad though, but I'm guessing the poly counts are going to be a bit strange as the character models have to be way more detailed than what the Creation engine was used to process before. I mean with a sculpting feature, models just have to be sophisticated. Same with all the fancy animations and facial expressions on creatures and NPCs, if they finally want to make some REAL towns, with lotsa folks in it, I can see some compromises being made on clothes meshes and other graphic details.

And I think it's a good thing, I mean the more work for modders the more mods there'll be, and the faster the modding scene for the game will be.

Really my only worry here is gonna be the patches and the DLCs of course, and how much they'll fuck up the modding setups for what, a year ? Two ? A bit curious about how it's gonna work for the console mods, I mean we know how much everything goes bonkers once a patch is shat, and how much work we have trying to update every mod, delete each leftover script... It's already a pain on PCs, imagine that on consoles.

  16. I've actually called the Bethesda.net thing in a different thread on this site a couple of months ago. If they are ever going to revisit paid mods, it will be on their own terms with their own distribution system. For the moment it seems that they wouldn't dare to openly think about it, but I suspect that the topic will come up again. Not that I'm against it by default, but if they are going to make it work, they better introduce a more robust and fair system, like the one they've tried on the workshop.

On the other hand, I don't really see, how mods on console would work. Consoles are closed systems (the XBox at least) and I don't see them developing essential tools like LOOT, MOD Organizer or TESEdit for them, which are essential for a stable experience.

As for mods on PC, I would be very surprised, if they throw sites like the Nexus (and LL by extension) under the bus in favor of their own exclusive distribution network. I'd be willing to bet good money, that it will be an additional way to publish mods on PC and the only way to get mods on console.

Agree, on the point they could very well just keep all the the cross-platform mods on Beth's website. Don't know if those will be sold or not, but I just do not want to imagine the shitstorm if their new paid mod system revolves around mods on consoles lol. Like, we could be able to get whatever we want on the PC on Nexus and Co. but literally the only way for console users to get mods would be through Beth's, if they make a contract with Microsoft/Sony.

Now I'm gonna stop hypothesizing or I'll start to imagine an engine limited mod setup, which restricts the game's mods to stuff that only works cross platforms. Which would mean no SKSE/LOOT/FNIS or anything, only Witcher 2-like mods with little "adventures" and battles. The horror.

  17.

And I've stated in other threads I don't think Bethesda will attempt to control free modding outside of what they are already doing and what we're use to now.  One thing they will attempt to control is modding for cash, but there are legal ways around that.  They want a monopoly on the prospective modding market and they THINK they can get away with it.  That is probably why your assertion that paid mods will only be available on Beth.net is true.  I think they want to cut Steam/Valve out of the process (and the market) all together.  But there is nothing Bethsda can do about an individual placing meshes and textures and other content Bethesda has no claim to behind a pay wall and having the esp/esm (that Bethesda owns) free for all to access.  It would be useless, but it would be free.  But all of this is WAY off topic.  ;)

It's not off topic, we're talking about a game that's not even out without any news about the new mods system if it exists, on a modding website. Imho best time and place to talk about it. Is it useful tho ? Well no but fuck it lol, I've been trying to lick my elbows for 2 years now, so, yeah.

Anyway I think they can actually monopolize the market. Check out the regulations around tool Kits. It's a free software released by a certain company, and you're forbidden to get money with what you develop on it, nor can you get money by using the assets from that certain company. Admittedly, the regulations are pretty flexible as the donation system can show. However, officially, it's still Bethesda who has the monopoly on who can get paid with what they do using their tool kit, and where they can get paid for it, and the price cuts for it, and the amount they can sell it for. If they decide to gather all the marketplace under their own banner and host them all on their platform while forbidding others from hosting them, they legally in the clear here.

I admit, sounds kind of stupid, it's like the inventor of the hammer told you that you can use your hammer to build your own house, but you can't use it to build someone else's for money, unless it's in the hammer inventor's garden, and he gets a cut, and he decides how much you get for it. Yet that's how law works.

  18. Don't see where you got that paid mods only platform at. I can see them selling some huge mods on Bethesda.net instead of allowing Steam to host them, but they also advocate free mods. Hence, only people who want their mods to be sold can sell them, and it'd be retarded to promote in one hand modders by allowing them to work like real developers and get coin for it, while at the same time keeping them all in the same workshop. They want it to spread, so allowing mods hosting across blogs and Nexus while centering the paid mods on Beths is actually the smartest move.

Plus with the whole shitstorm some weeks ago, and the huge plebiscite CDPR is getting thanks to their no DRM/free DLCs etc policy, the tides are changing. Doing what you guys describe is a business suicide, and we can say whatever the hell we want about Zeni and Beth's top hats, they still know better than to sink their own boat in shit.

Plus keeping their whole maneuver out of Steam is a bonus, now Valve's tainted in the modding department with their last naive tentative, placing the same paid mods platform but on their website is a bit like changing names when your psycho ex girlfriend is out for your blood.

  19. Dayum tho, so far it looks pretty good doesn't it ?

Okay dialogue system's gonna need some learning curve, and I'm not sure I'm that much into voiced main char, just makes voiced quest mods creation harder ... Absolutely flabbergasted by the models, Bethesda actually managing something else than potatoes ? Holy shaite. And I said nothing about filters, that lighting more than makes up for the lack of "wasteland" atmosphere in the coloring. The husband wife thing is kind of a shame though, yeah, looking at the trailer it's more probable that you play a widow, yet I just can't help but think that somewhere down in the story line you'll get the chance to see your family again, looks like that kind of scenario. Probably choices to make, and bad ones result in you seeing your family die or something. Totally Bethesda-like.

  20. Something I have noticed in the Witcher there are a lot of monsters born out of humans are women... hm... bitches be crazy, am'I right guys?

Folklore beasts have always been a substitution to porn for our ancients... The number of sex craving monster women in Slavic folklore is particularly impressive, plus remember most of them were filtered by Christians to look "bad". Originally, they were pretty much all hentai sluts. I wish a RPG of this scale could be made in ancient Rome or Greece with Hellenistic mythology, imagine the awesomeness of doing quests centered around Minotaurs, Labyrinths, Titans, and more importantly nymphomaniac nymphs. SO many of them, they're like Pornkemons.
