Newegg does have a good return policy.  Same thing happened with my current FX-8350 (pins were broken on delivery) so I sent it back.  Week later I get a brand new FX-8350 with an apology =D.  People who run large business' could learn a thing or two from Newegg's customer service.

Yup welcome to the anti-GG philosophy of, "if you're not with us, you're against us."  We've seen over the course of 2 months that D-Pakman has been trying to keep a neutral stance in all this.  As we see though if you're not quoting the party line you're considered a potential threat.   The hypocrisy is nauseating 

hey I agree with you.  I always found the gawaii aspect a little disturbing; a lot of them are borderline pedophilia were it not for the over-sized breasts that are attached to them.  Now I'm a sucker for a pretty face and love beautiful eyes but not when they're the size of dinner plates cause then I think, "so how is your cousin the Grey Alien doing?"  Take for example the original Elin mod for Skyrim; it was okay but a lot of the alts I made were normal sized eyes.  You can imagine my squeal of joy when the author came out with a normal eye version of it.  I just liked the idea of making a super-thief that's very small in height.   Now I'm a big Helsing, Triggun and Evangelion fan because I find the stories compelling.  I do wish for some actual actors for movie plots though instead of anime.  Anime has its place but I'm not a huge fan of it.  It's interesting to watch but when it starts going the hentai route I have chew back my lunch and go watch some real porn on Redtube or Pornhub just to get the taste out of my mouth >.<

Well I got something new that's pissing me off today; Warlords of Draenor went live and I'm fucking broke.  Hmm..okay not really pissed off just annoyed.  Personally after being burned so many times on expansions (especially on midnight releases) for the first time I don't mind it.  In fact according to a friend the new areas are so laggy and a few quests are broken that I'm better off waiting until next week to resub.   So yeah not pissed off just annoyed.  Like having a rash you can't reach.

o.0...you completely missed the point.  The consumer is smart enough (at least SOME of them are) to differentiate on what game is good what is bad.  The signature problem is the one you either flat out ignored or are aware of it but don't want to admit it; the reason why games journalism is under fire is NOT because of the consumers only bias.  I stated that quite clearly in my other post;   Bad journalism + Bad Information = Bad games.  Developers and publishers get misinformation on what is popular.  They also get bad publicity if the development department isn't running on all 8 cylinders making the super charger smoke by over-inflating hype over a game aka: Watch Dogs.  This ruins the industry, games come out POORLY optimized and on occasion just flat out awful (Ride to Hell Retribution).   In short there NEEDS to be more ethics and morality in games journalism otherwise publishers and developers are usually left fumbling around in the dark.

See Derpakin that's part of the problem; what do you do when every outlet you use to find non-biased and critical critique of a game doesn't exist.  You can name off a number of sites and each one more than likely is either bribed, encouraged, black-mailed or threatened to make good reviews of a game knowing full well its an un-optimized piece of crap (glares angrily at Battlefield 4).  It's also horrible to expect there to be reviews of games knowing full well its full of shit and your better off renting it from the Redbox or borrowing it from a friend to give your own interpretation because no matter what source you look for it'll be biased because more than likely the reviewer has been paid off to say its a good game when in fact its simply a poor excuse of a cash grab.   Although you do have a point on the fact that reliance on review sites really should be nipped in the bud.  I watch Totalbiscuits WTF is from time to time but don't take it as pure gospel; I ask around, mostly from people at work, do my own checks and finally rent the game to see if I like it.  To be entirely dependent on review sites though just opens up a can of worms you'll never be able to fix.  There in though is the problem.  When we expect, BY DEFAULT, a review site to be corrupted from the start do we really think that's good for the industry.  By and large NO it is not and let me explain why;   MANY if not ALL developers and publishers base their sales and growth on Metacritic, a site that has shown on many occasions to be defunct.  As a result because of this they look to other methods to interpret what is potentially well grossing in the market thus make business decisions based NOT on actual gamers but these sites.  However due to journalistic corruption they get the wrong idea on what is popular and what is not.  They are also misinformed on just how much expectation there is to a certain AAA title and make poor business decisions on corrupt ideals stemming from hype and misinformation.  If you want an example of a game that was rushed intentionally because of corrupt journal reviews its Mass Effect 3; the devil is in the details that one can tell its production and release were rushed due to the influence of...you guess it...corrupt games journalism.   This greatly hurts the market for today and future titles.  When a developer is SO dependent on games journalism to see what is popular and at what speed development should be it creates a huge imbalance.  They ASSUME they know what is best via journalism and make what they think are sound decisions on corrupt ideals.  People wonder why Duke Nukem Forever failed so badly.  It was not only because it was considered a dated engine but also because they did a lot of things wrong.  They ASSUMED everyone loved modern FPS shooters.  That failed.  They ASSUMED everyone liked cut-scenes every five feet.  THAT failed.  They ASSUMED everyone would like an EGO system similar to HALO.  That IMPRESSIVELY failed.  And they based it solely on what games journalism was saying was popular and mainstream knowing full that was false.   It's one of the reasons why I've begun to endorse games developers like Bethesda, Obsidian, Square Enix and even now Gearbox.  They have taken a more, "it'll get done when its done," ideal instead of focusing on defunct ratings and journalism.  They want a better business model and while its taken a huge tole via casualties of the games market they were smart enough to realize Metacritic and Kotaku are NOT legitimate sites to rate popularity.  Nobody wants an environment where games are dictated by corrupt gaming journalism and you know that.   If that were the case we'd end up with Call of Duty Clone # 90580209380582897 for the next 200 years.

yeah see I'm of the same opinion as should other people; don't take a review as pure gospel.  Take Totalbiscuits review of the Borderlands Pre-Sequel; he basically said the phrase, "if it ain't broke don't fix it," but aside from zero G mechanic it hasn't changed much.  Yet I still want to buy it (can't right now to many bills >.<) because he had the presence of mind to show gameplay.  The only reason he was extremely critical of the game is because its whats expected however knows full well its up to the consumer's decision not his alone.  It's one of the reasons I like to watch his WTF is reviews.  They're not so much critiques but first impressions.  The first 20 minutes of a game can interpret what it'll be like for the next 2 or three hours.  There will be changes of course however the core of the game is dependent on first impressions.   It's the reason why Aliens: Colonial Marines landed on its face...hard.

On the topic of reviews though I think a good portion of us have to agree with the phrase, "once bitten, twice shy."  Generally when a game is overhyped (glares angrily at Watch Dogs) there are a number of things that may occur; it may live up to expectations or it will flop on its face.  Having been a victim of the Aliens: Colonial Marines debacle I can safely say I won't make that mistake again.  Since then if I want HONEST reviews I ask fellow coworkers (who play games themselves) or watch reviews from Angry Joe or Totalbiscuit.   I've also made it a habit NOT to pre-order if I can help it.  It really boils down to common sense.  You don't buy a car out of good faith and word from the dealer, you test drive it first and then make the purchase.

Hmm...you're right it hasn't gotten that bad yet and that's mainly because we'll all cool here.  As long as we keep it civil I don't see any reason not to.   As for the Billy Goat curse it happened back in 1945 when Billy Goat Tavern owner Billy Sianis was asked to leave a World Series game against the Detroit Tigers because the fans were all butthurt because of how his goat smelled.  It pissed him off and he said, "Them Cubs, they ain't gonna win no more."  Since then they have yet to win another National League Pennant or World Series.

You and everyone else, me included, is still trying to figure out just why and how Zoe Quinn's actions precipitated this whole mess.  Personally I don't think its any of our fucking business but sadly BOTH sides are hell bent on using it as a means of justification.  If you read my post you know I said that NOT ALL of the GamerGate side of this was involved in that plot but the thing that really put this on the map was the DMCA abuse by Zoe Quinn.   Someone mentioned in an earlier post that had she simply let it go as hatemail/harassment at an earlier time the whole affair MIGHT have blown over.  Instead she agreed with people calling gamers, "dead,"  and abused the DMCA on Youtube to shut MundaneMatt up simply to censor his criticism of her.  Now don't get me wrong though there is a bit of sexism stemming from most of the community whom feel their hobby is under fire but 90% of the time its just some naysayer trying to fan the flames like those hecklers during protests intentionally trying to push the demonstration to violence instead of being a peaceful protest.   This has been building up but seriously I agree with Kendo; LoversLab really should stay out of this and personally I'm a bit sorry I even posted my thoughts here.  We represent a forum of free thinking that I find refreshing and unlike the Nexus we don't legitimize ourselves by roosting on the moral high ground (if they want to call it that).  Everyone here is free and open which is what drew me in and as we see this debate can get extremely toxic.  Each side really is just a giant mud flinging contest and i really don't want this site to become another casualty.   In that event I say we just change the subject and refrain from this toxic duplicity.   AHEM.   How bout those Kansas City Royals?  I'm a Cubs fan but its good to see a midwestern team making the playoffs.

I'll be honest I was personally kind of hoping this wouldn't show up here.  You guys are cool, laid back and the viciousness of both sides tends to make even the nicest forum a toxic cesspool on occasion.  However this is something we really shouldn't ignore and being pro #NotYourShield I feel its an obligation to set the record straight;   You guys know me (for the small time I've been here I feel very welcome).  You know I have a deep love for women and I would love more than anything for them to get more involved in the gaming industry as a career.  For the most part most games these days seem very stale, un-imaginative and on occasion downright stripped bare in order to milk customers for day one DLC and micro transactions.  I've personally found women tend to have a more artistic impression of games (a good portion of modders here for example are women save the other artists) and tend to have a broader ideal on the concept of digital art.   That being said the very definition this has ANYTHING to do with sexism in the industry is a misnomer.  There is sexism don't get me wrong but this #GamerGate problem has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH SEXISM.  I am being honest with you guys and really it's the honest truth; anti-GG only brought sexism into the argument because they realize they're on the defensive with nothing to back them up.   If you're wondering just what this pertains to we have to look back two years ago at the 2012 GMA's.  It's common knowledge now that a good portion of games journalists (not just women I mean a lot of them) were given lavish incentives to endorse certain games that were not up to snuff.  These, "bribes," included free games, free publishing rights, better reviews and critiques for their games and on occasion FREE Playstation 3s.  If you want more information on this I need only ask you Google Dorito Gate and you'll see what I mean.   Now you're probably wondering what does this have to do with Zoe Quinn and her disgruntled boyfriend.  This is the unfortunate catalyst to this consumer revolt.  Miss Quinn's personal life is nobody's business but her own however the Twitter feed her ex made sparked what many consider clear facts that games journalism is corrupt.  Also what really got the fire going was her blatant attempt to abuse Youtube's DMCA system in order to shutdown NOT SEXISM BUT ACTUAL CRITICISM by MundaneMatt.  We've seen attempts like this before (Day One: Gary's Incident, WarZ and Shining Force) of using the DMCA system to not only cut criticism but also censor free speech.   There's the real truth of it my fellow game enthusiasts.  Trust me this has NOTHING to do with sexism.  Oh yes you'll see the occasional troll spewing misogyny, hatred and hollow threats but more than likely they are NOT GamerGate or NotYourShield.  If they are it is simply some idiot who thinks venting will make change when it won't.  The real tragedy of all this is the fact that the toxicity has taken a real turn for the worst.   One side accuses the other of a vicious attack http://www.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAction/comments/2k0wov/just_when_you_think_antigg_cant_stoop_any_lower/ The other side of despots in the movement respond http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2014/10/24/gamergate-targets-felicia-day-after-she-expresses-fear-of-being-targeted/?tid=hp_mm   It's a back and forth argument with one looking illegitimate and the other looking childish.  Anti-GGer's accuse ANYONE who doesn't agree with them of being misogynists, sexists and rapists.  The other tries to maintain a degree of professionalism however with despots and trolls like a wolf among the sheep it gets lost in a maelstrom of name calling and trolling.   All I can say is for people to actually look into the debate ON YOUR OWN.  Anti-GG has taken to accusations of bigotry and have regulated themselves to generalizing ANYONE that plays games, male or female of being misogynists.  As you can see the hypocrisy is nauseating and is merely a screen for the truth of the matter;   They don't want people or the general public to realize just how nepotistic they are, so they use a screen of sexism to garner public support.  They are literally attempting to use sexism and bigotry as a shield in order to keep their real elephant in the room hidden.  Of course many of us are aware just how corrupt gaming journalism is and its perverse in the entire industry.   This was simply the straw that broke the camels back.

Hell dude I've been wanting off this planet since I heard NASA is planning one way trips to Mars.  The human race (not all but a good portion of it) disgusts me.  War in the Middle East, pedophiles, murderers, rapists, religious fanatics and politicians.  Surely there must be a civilization out there with some better morals because this world is ANYTHING but civilized.

This was something I posted about 2 months ago on Youtube.   We have to consider morally the benefits and consequences of creating an artificial intelligence.  We have to dictate just the moral ambiguity of creating an android race could have.  Namely what is our concept of consciousness.  Is it simply our own to observe or are there other factors in determining sentience?  Some computer applications for example have failsafe systems in order to keep core kernel systems intact.  Is this simple a security measure or could it be a self-preservation mechanism? I digress however; this has little to do with philosophy and more to do with moral standing.  It is a machine yes.  However does that completely make it transparent to the ideal that it has no consciousness?  How do we determine consciousness if the only means we have to measure consciousness is our own bias?  Some people think animals have no consciousness however time and time again they are proven wrong.  Take dolphins for example whom have shown remarkable intelligence, so much so they can actually recognize their own image in a mirror. Above it all I am reminded of one quote from one of my favorite TV series; Babylon 5; What is the third principle of sentient life?  The third principle of sentient life is the capacity for self-sacrifice: the conscious ability to override evolution and self-preservation for a cause, a friend, a loved one.   If and when we discover an artificial intelligence we have to take heart the possibility that it CAN become sentient and at that point, treating it like a machine would not only be immoral but a severe detriment to our own evolution.  We become worse than a machine...we become inhuman.

Sometimes no.  Clicking the Window option immediately reverts it to Touchpad interface which can be infuriating.  I want the option to disable it completely.  Hell even downright uninstall it in favor of the traditional desktop.
