With windows 10 on the horizon and the DX12 hype, is there anyone out there running Sims 3 on the technical previews? I'm all about running the latest but it would be hard to let Sims 3 go now that we have all these animators and KW.

  That's good to hear from someon else. I can't say it will be a smooth upgrade for everyone as my laptop won't handle Windows 10 as it hasn't been supported since Vista so I get massive driver errors and blue screens up the ass so I had to go back to Windows 7 with my laptop. But if you have newer hardware and you won't lose you're other computing programs it really appears it may be worth looking into.

  Maybe PikAs means changing the skin on a sim you've made already. For example you have a Sim using a skin like S-Club's Chocolat which is one of my favorites. But you want to change from that skin to yours, in CAS what is the label? Is it a weird color where some skin creators make it pink or blue,etc or if the color in the skintone panel picker is a regularly used color does a picture label come up in the skin? I had a huge fight on Tumblr a while back as a certain skin creator was pissed that they weren't given credit for the skintone in a picture montage but that person didn't lable their skin so I didn't know what skin was used in photoshoot.

  Good to know it wasn't just me but Sims seemed really fluid. I know I have it on an SSD but it was way more fluid than when I was on windows 8.1. On the new build I'm going to raid 0 two ssd's so it should really fly. But one of the selling points of windows 10 is they are supposed to make it more gamer friendly. Thanks for your input...  

  Just to ask does it seem snappier? I haven't done the upgrades to my pc but it seems more snappier than when I had it on windows 8.1. Can you confirm anything or am I just seeing things?

Well, got me system back up sorta still only runs for short intervals and I'm still so undecided in my next move but I threw on windows 10 for shits and giggles and here are my findings. It actually worked pretty well. To be on the safe side I ran Sims 3 in windows 8 compatibility mode. One problem I encountered is SweetFX. My game would not start with SweetFX installed.... . I really like the lighting effects that it has and I'm still looking for an alternative at this point. But that aside it seems windows 10 is safe for Sims 3 unlike windows 8 for Sims 2. I like the layout of windows 10 but since it's still early I'll probably stay on windows 8.1 until the we see what the first true directx 12 game has to offer but Sims works fine and it does seem to be a bit smoother, don't know if it's placebo or not. Now we need sweetfx fixed..rofl Just throwing it out there.   Edit: No one probably cares too much but I got it working. I manually downloaded the directx9 installer and now BurntWaffles SweetFX now works with Sims 3 on windows 10. I might be making the leap after all....   It's all good in tha hood

  Maybe it's one of those things once you figure it out it's easy peasy from there on.  

  If I was able to learn nifskope and get the animated vagina to work I should be able to figure this out with some trial and error. Can't wait for my new PC build and fresh install.....

  Yes, this mod goes in your Mods>Packages folder and it won't hurt to clear out you cache files after adding it.

  Don't put yourself down, I know you're trying to re-create but she looks great, maybe not the receation you want but she looks good.

Hey Geck.O, once I'm back up and running do I have to delete my default eyes and teeth as well since it's included in your skin?

  Thanks for explaining and I'll start researching UUNP, I'm in between gaming rigs and it really was getting tiresome waiting for someone to convert things and since I can't do it I had to wait or change bodies. I've never used bodyslide either so it will be a learning curve but if it makes things easier in the long run it's worth learning. Thanks for your hard work.  

  I wouldn't say I'm a CC Jedi but I've learned from a lot of mistakes and can you believe I haven't merged any of my package files. Once I'm back up and running I might merge and see if I see a difference. I prefer package files as it's easier to track down bad or corrupt CC. My mod folder is ultra organized as it was a huge mess when I was learning Sims 3. I have everything seperated into folders(ie, skins, makeup, eyes, sliders, hair, Nraas, KinkyWorld, male clothes, female clothes, shoes, default mods, etc). Another thing I do that I shouldn't is download too many custom houses. I love MarcusSims houses but they aren't too user friendly for install and though they look great they don't play well when I try to play the game, don't know what I'm doing wrong and my lazy ass hasn't gotten rid of them since they don't hinder my game. Plus I download the massive custom worlds which I would not recommend unless you have a powerhouse gaming rig. I know people swear by CC magic but I couldn't really figure it out so I left it alone. My folder would actually be bigger if not for a HDD failure and I lost a lot more CC that I couldn't recover as the creators either quit playing Sims or moved on to Sims 4. The biggest advice I can give is keep your mods folder organized and if you decide to use s3pe to merge package files, keep the original package files un-merged somewhere as backup just in case. Might sound real anal but I have my Sims 3 folder backed up on two different HDD's and a 128gb thumb drive.  

Can we Sims 4 load times on Sims 3?? I'd have to say Sims 3 as it isn't as boring since we have a ton of mods and animators but the load times are really making me think about walking away for a while and revisiting Sims 4 later on.

You and me both, as someone who owns a ROG Swift with gsync. I can argue that it was overkill on that monitor. Some people may need it but from my personal experience gsync isn't needed unless you're doing 4k but that's jmo. Edit: you also might need gsync when that Acer x34 Predator 3440x1440 display becomes available because that's a lot of screen real estate.

Well after much thinking and it's a wonder my head hasn't exploded.. I've decided on keeping my current 4770k and just getting a z97 motherboard. I want to wait for the first full DX12 game to drop and see how well z170 and x99 handle that whenever that comes out. I should be back simming soon. I'm in a bind, I need a new mobo and I'm thinking if I have to drop that on a new board I might go to x99 instead of z87/z97 I'm on now. Since Sims 3 is more CPU extensive than GPU extensive would I benefit in gameplay from 6 cores 12 threads as opposed to the 4 cores 8 threads I have now? I do okay with it as I can can run massive worlds like Barcelona and NYC with SweetFX ultra and HQ mod with little lag but would things be even smoother? Or would I be limited since it's 32 bit and 64 bit? I know I've see a huge difference in video editing but gamewise I'm unsure. Any ultra tech guys play Sims 3?? I don't want to ask on a more tech forum as you have tons of fanboys to certain manufacturers and you don't get a real honest answer most of the time.

  It might but it's so fun to have in your game. My biggest downfall is too things.   1) I'm a CC diva..My Sims 3 folder in My Documents is over 47 gigs now. I know I have issues.. 2) I love playing the massive worlds, Barcelona, Sao Paten, NYC, London and Beach City.   You put those together with Kinky world and that's where my problems lie but I do okay, we'll see what my upgraded system will do with this.

  All of them...rofl, but you can go to Mod The Sims and there are world routing fixes which can help. I was thinking about making a lag guide on here but it might be a moot point as there's already useful information on here.   Edit: I don't think g-sync makes a difference, I think it's just you're upgraded system. Sims 3 doesn't push your GPU enough for screen tearing. Are you running a 4k or 1440p display?

  And people just leave or move on for whatever reasons. I thought Snfoug80 animations were the best I had seen until Amra came along and for whatever reason snfoug just vanished or quit playing Sims. It's not just animators too, I've lost a ton of custom content that I haven't been able to recover when I had a faulty HDD enclosure mess up by backup HDD. Alot of the creators moved on to Sims 4 and you still have a few that create for Sims 3 but for the most part we're just finding old CC. For example Jelly Nick on tumblr had made some of the most realistic Sims I'd ever seen and was also very helpful if you asked her and one day she just said she was done playing Sims and she was gone. I remember another Sims player that had a nice tumblr page and youtube video with step by step on making your Sims more realistic and just like that poof she's gone. In all honesty I wasn't playing Sims 3 until Amra's animations came along. I had felt like Sims 3 had ran it's course then Amra comes along and then we get Kinky World and though Kicker isn't around you have Alfiechan building on what he started.

Hey Dooda, under database shouldn't it read Found 1, Matched 1? I guess it doesn't matter much if your game plays fine. 

  First off nice system specs, but Sims 3 will still lag some. It's just the way the game is and at this point you just have to deal with it but there are steps you can do to ease it some.   1) Video card....Here     a) A 980TI is too new and your Sims installation may not recognize it. 2) Clear cache files ..... Here     a) I do this daily, at least when my system was up and running I did. 3) Clear out DCBackup .... Here     a) I do this every other day, I never delete the CCmerged.package 4) Use Nraas MC to reset your world..... While in game click City Hall>Nraas>Town>Reset Everything 5) If you have a SSD in your system install Sims 3 there. I know SSd's are pricy and most of us have one to run our OS and install other programs on  a standard mechanical HDD but with Sims every little bit helps. 6) Memory hack....Here     a) I honestly don't know if this makes a difference or not but I do it. 7) G-Sync won't matter either, gsync only really kicks in when your FPS drops below a playable rate. With a 980ti, playing a game like Witcher 3 or Shadow of Mordor in 4k your fps might dip, then gsync will kick in and you won't get screen tearing and it will be smooth gameplay even though your FPS is low. In Sims 3 on my system the only time my FPS dips below 80 fps is when I take a screenshot with fraps and once it's over it jumps right back up.   These are the steps I take and for the most part I can play pretty lag free with HQ mod, SweetFX Ultra and everything turned up to the highest settings. Before my motherboard crapped out you can see my system specs in my signature and they are similar to yours. I'm currently not playing as I'm waiting for Skylake to drop then upgrade my system as I want more pcie lanes to do other things and X99 is just too pricy for me and from what I've seen Skylake boards and processors seem more for the gamer as X99 is more for the video editor, 3d modeling person. Hope this helps and be prepared it will still stutter some.... :@ ;)
