Makes me wonder why people on the internet obsess over gender so much. Is it a male posing as a female? Is it a female posing as a male?

In your case, we will never know. In my case, it's both - two people, a male and a female, use this account, and both of us have no quarrel with lying about our gender whenever we feel it is convenient.

For me its bikers, taking up the middle of the road at 10mph in a 50mph zone, with a COMPLETELY empty sidewalk beside them, not stopping at stop signs, going straight on a left turn only lane, etc etc. They piss me off.

It is illegal to bike on the sidewalk in most places because at some point some kid got hurt by some bike. Same reason kinder surprises are illegal - someone got hurt, once.

I've been doing research on the issue, and I have found a rather clear picture. I have been able to derive the following facts:

Facts on behalf of the feminist that are obviously correct:

>Women who speak out about sexism in the video game industry are definitely being harassed and threatened as if they were arguing with the Islamic State.

>The evidence that Zoe Quinn slept with reviewers for positive reception is completely ungrounded and exclusively from an angry ex. 

>The video game industry should definitely stop using an 80's standard of women in culture - and they recognize, especially speakers such as Anita Sarkeesian, that some games are not misogynist or sexist at all, but those are not the majority of games.

>The feminists suggesting that the system be forced into appealing to women are outnumbered, and have been reamed by people such as Sarkeesian. 

Facts on behalf of the GamerGate users that are obviously correct:

>There are no review ethics. The gaming review industry is completely corrupted and driven not by honest and objective reviews, but everything from money to the authors to threats.

>It's not women versus men. The #gamergate posts quite clearly include men and women alike, and even feminists.

>They are completely right that the video game industry should not be forced into anything.

This is quite clearly, contrary to what the media is telling everyone, not a matter of women vs. men and feminism vs. anti-feminism. At its core is an art form debate - the gamergate side is, all things considered, anti-totalitarian, while the feminist side is, all things considered, anti-isoliationist. 

This is definitely a debate that has some serious points on both sides that need consideration - and you guys are not doing that at all.

The vast majority of this thread is nothing but random insults and accusations of "white knighting" and "SJW" (skeleton jousting wizards), videos and links to sources that are barely relevant, taken out of context, and/or biased sources directly affected by an obvious confirmation bias. At no point have any of you attempted to construct any kind of considerate and rational argument.

The only argument I have heard about it is the feminist side of the argument - that it's a problem of male harassing, bullying, and threatening female gamers for simply asking for the industry to recognize that many gamers are female and to stop alienating female players. 

Can anyone provide me with some trustworthy literature on the topic that gives a good in-depth description of the issue?
Unbiased scientific or academic literature is a bonus, but if you have to go for blogs and media, please avoid conservative blogs, pseudofeminist tumblr pages, anti-feminist sites, and other pages that will inevitably suffer from confirmation bias.

The corruption in this world is so bad and the people calling themselves immigrating instead of what they are really doing jumping the fence are actually being exploted by the govts they thought they were escaping from. The amount of financial corruption in my govt is larger than all the financial criminal activity combined that is discovered by my govt among the population every year. All a politician has to do is stand in line to get free money just hold out their hands and squeak a bit when nothing is dropped into their hands immediately, squeaky wheel gets the grease or money in this case:-(

I like the idea of the star trek mentality that money is replaced with technology and that tech is not controlled by some central regime, so people can meet their daily needs and live their lives without economic worry. The only things that would concern them are what to do with their lives and as it is in star trek, meet new people on other planets and travel through space on ships etc. Humans getting along and raised properly to ACTUALLY decide to behave because the WANT TO instead of because they have to! I would like to believe such a future is possible but people these days are so shitty it just seems impossible.

She still perpetuates the same misconceptions about feminism that are prevalent in american culture. Feminism does not tell women they are helplessly oppressed at all - feminism in the USA is focused on achieving social equality and encouraging women to take on fields that they would otherwise be discouraged to because of their gender, especially with STEM fields and computer science.

One major misconception, that she is pushing as well, is the idea of a feminist agenda. There isn't any specific feminist agenda. There are feminists with agendas, but there is no feminist agenda. There aren't a bunch of women sitting in some conference room deciding how to kill men and take over the world. Feminism is extremely broad, and has different focuses in different parts of the world. 

She says "They bring up the definition of feminism, but that isn't really.." Yes, it is. That's feminism. That's it. The oxford definition is, in fact, the correct definition of feminists. The behavior of cherry-picked feminist speakers is not representative of anything other than ignorant people appealing to ad populum.

Personally, I strongly disagree with many American and democratic feminist speakers, who seek to enforce social justice for women through political correctness.
