People sometimes have to create crap mods to start, then work with positive feedback to improve them. My first mods for FONV were crap, they evolved a lot. People who think they can do better should offer informative feedback or do better themselves.

^This. I can tell you from experience, insulting modders hard work does not make them want to mod more.

  2. Oh I don't doubt they know about us. I remember back when this site was just a tiny for Oblivion modding site. Even through FO 3 I can forgive them for not knowing about us. But now? No way. (Of course, that 'sex with animals' line isn't really unique. Same thing with Mass Effect, a Varrin STD got on the ship.) but I can accept that as a jab. And the 'red rocket' in a red rocket. Remember, last time we saw him we had to save him from mutants....

    Because they are charging $60!

There is no excuse to release a half assed product and force customers to fix your shit!

Just because it’s known for mods does not mean that excuses them for releasing a shitty product. Especially if they are charging money for it.

Mods are supposed to add to the game not fix broken shit

Forcing your Loyal playerbase to polish a turd. Even though skyrim did so well on PC, they again catered to consoles and lowest common denominator.

I'm not here to argue dude. Honestly, I had enough of it when idiots were up in arms about some dipshit reddit post that said there was no female player chars in FO4. I don't mind discussing FO4s shortcomings, but stop acting like they stole your firstborn child alright?

In reference to what you were saying about modding and graphics, I think you'd best look up Dwarf Fortress. The vanillia graphics suck, and by that I mean basically non-existant. instead of wasting his time with graphics, the dev will let his fans do that while he works on content. I don't care how pretty the apple is, I want meat in it, you know? Now DF is free, I know. I am defending my point of resource allocation. There are several stunning games out there that have shitty graphics. (DF, DW:U, ect.) because their devs focused on the immersion and mechanics.

I'm not saying the graphics are good, because they aren't. There are many other AAA titles that look five times better. But if you look how difficult it is to mod other AAA titles like xcom or Mass Effect, I'd buy fallout over them in a heartbeat because I know I can mod what I don't like. In XCOM, I have to keep manually editing a mass file of code so the aliens don't get two moves on me. In Mass Effect, I'm limited in what my armor and weapons are (and who I can X, but that's a different subject). I will never have that issue with Fallout titles.

So anyway that's my reasoning. TL;DR The people that say FO4 doesn't have flaws are morons because there's plenty. But it's moddability makes it more desirable for me than other AAA games that look better.

What I really hate, after three hours into the game, are the PC controlls. They really are consolish and simply ported. Also why had they to change key settings. When I want to get into VATS, I automatically hit V. Yes, you can change them, but you'd have to change them all. Also I don't see any option for third person. And seeing that it's bound to the V key, I can't use V for VATS unless I somehow find how to assign F to third person again. Yes, I know, the mousewheel button, but V is also assigned to the workshop.

^this. I died in the vault trying to wrestle with that favorites menu. I was able to remap everything, though, and I just hold F for my workshop now. 3rd person view/WorkShop be the same button, dude.

  5. Eh, I never much cared for the story. I try to get it done before the mod tools come out, else I never finish it (Still haven't beaten Skyrim, only beat NV once.) But you know, I can actually side with them on the graphics. This franchise is known for mods, and eventually the graphics it'll ship with will be obsolete anyway. Why dedicate resources to get hi-detailed textures when it'll be old tech next month? Give it passable graphics and dedicate the saved resources to something else and let the modders do graphics for free in the future.

    Anyway...

    Cons:

-numerous bugs in graphics (fell through the ground at the quarry because it never loaded)

-Supermutant attack right after I got my first bighorner. :,(

    Pros:

    -Codsworth (Assface, Titties)

    -Built in Real Time Settler

-I can hopefully mod the fuck out of it.

Also, I plan on working on Tryout until at least the GECK for Fallout 4 is out.

Fucking Awesome. In the event you didn't hear it in the last 24 hours, this mod is awesome. I would wither and die without my tryout fix! I checked back a few pages, are you planning to do anything for FO 4 if your money problems get resolved?

So wanted to post yesterday but reply thing didn't work. Got around to playing the Nemphi quest, and got the quest concerning Violet. The save I did that on was a sloppy one and I'm not going to have time to try it out with a clean save. I have no other mods that reference her, so I just wanted to throw out that I am having problems with her.

    Spoiler

I was not able to get her to move to or talk to Nemphi. I paid her, she stayed put. I went to Nemhi and back and talked to her again, and realized that the dialogue option for peace was still there so this time I speech checked her and she still didn't move. I moved her to Nemhi VIA the console for shits and giggles, and tried the dialogue options again but she didn't say anything to him. Guy can hope, right?

I'm not able to open anyone else mods in GECK for some reason (probably because my computer's possessed by Sheogorath), and if I had time to run and try this clean I would. Just throwing this out, in case anyone else is having that problem.

Either way, any chance of getting the player slave portion of Nemphis quest expanded? Or at least able to keep companions from changing when it's done? Those outfits they got were awesome.

  7. Hi there - you are using windows 8 or 10

The topics are all there but hidden to the left side in the window.

Go with your mouse to the very left side of the top of the topic window and move with the mouse over the edge until the cursor changes. then pull!!!!!! and pull to the right side^^

You will see all is there^^

You need to do this anytime you open a new quest window^^ - see it as a nice gift from unkle Gates to take your time for a smoke^^

    Ava

I'm not even going to pretend I understand what you're talking about. I'm using windows seven, there is no 'pulling' in windows seven. XD

I know how to get the GREETING dialogue topic. I'm trying to make an NPC use a custom topic to greet (think the mod small talk)

So I want to know how to make an NPC run CUSTOM_GREET when they're activated and then go to GREETING

There are quite a few mods out there that do it but I can't open them in GECK for some reason.

  8. Alight so I guess i actually have two questions, the overall being that I never understood how dialogue is selected in game, why do almost all the vanillia records have no topics in the choices box but still function like a dialogue? Ugh.

My current issiue that I'm having trouble with (the one in the title) is selecting a new dialogue topic to function as a greet topic. Is there any way to do that without hijacking all the dialogue with an on Activate script?

Basically I want a vanillia character (testing on Trudy in GS, running into the same problem people are getting with Cass) to recognize the reputation of the player character (feared, loved, ect.) in their greet. Does anyone know of a reliable way to do that?

  9. So I just ran around enslaving just about everyone I could, and I realized that the slave_master opinion modifier goes away right after it's given. As far as I can tell it just doesn't like the duration -1 because I substituted that with a year 50 and it works fine.

  10.

Very nice! If Imay make a humble suggestion, could it be possible to gain a special retinue type called demon? Also would it be possible to have the special buildings go beyond level 1?

If I make multiple tiers of the buildings, I'd also look at doing a little more balancing with them then, as they can make things a little easy street as it is. Something like where what they currently are as being the middle tier with the first and last stages being worse and better respectively. It's definitely possible, although it's not what I'm looking at improving next.

dude, screw balance. I will not abide by your vanilla mindset! I will have my demon (actually called 'exiled') earth-conquering reuitine!

Fun fact, according to the spellchecker here, reuitine is supposed to be fruitiness.

You, sir, have a lot more patience than I have. I tried modding CK 2 and then I got a headache (before the wiki had the coding section done. I had to splice together shit from other events.)

I'm really enjoying the slavery system here a lot more than the one in AGOT (more or less because this one is intractable) but i realized that after taking the girl (or guy, I guess) to court after successful training they still hate my guts. It's like, you kidnap somebody once and they never want to be your friend again. Ugh. Any chance we can get a positive modifier applied after training? Or an obedience course that does the same thing?

Could always use Cheat Engine, make your Diplomacy 100, everyone will love you :P

    Or just ~

    Then "add_diplomacy [your charID] 100"

No need to exist to window.

you know, I never could get CE to work with CK. So I got a trainer that does the same thing. Easy ironman mode? yes sir.

I'm kinda pissed at TaleWorld, because I keep checking their development blog for Bannerlord like several times per week, just to check if there's anything new. There has been no update at all during GamesCom. And now I find the videos here, on LoversLab. That tells a lot about their dev blog, but also about the LoversLab community! :)

Ending their relationship with Paradox as the publisher was a mistake in my opinion. They obviously lack the experience and need some help in handling PR. Sadly, it probably means no boxed copies of Bannerlord as well.

well looking at other Paradox titles, and this is just uneducated speculation, but it might be because M&B isn't designed for hundreds of DLC and PI was pushing for it.

  14. Alright, so I popped this mod in (I did a modded game and vanilla w/Alt Start.)

I nabbed Ysolda from whiterun and... one of the beggers from windhelm. It looks like it works as intended, Home markers work and both slaves followed and went naked on demand. Ysolda was strange, though, she disappeared in whiterun and reappeared after I enslaved the windhelm begger and fast travalled. In both cities, though, there was a person i couldn't enslave. Avadinne in whiterun and Sora (Talos pristess) in windhelm. (That's after the save/load thing)

Retested, had issiues with Ysolda taking her clothes off (windhelm begger still worked.) Thought I'd test combat while I was at it, and they ran.

I'm willing to test more if need be, if you wanted to check something specific.

Now for my two cents on all this, It's always nice to see another slavery mod. But right now you've not only got competition between your mod and a well-established mod, but you've got to play catch up with Blabla on PH because you're kinda reinventing the wheel here. It might be less work to make a quest mod for PH (only way you'll get ysolda in PH is if you fight the entire garrison and a few dolphins.)

That's just my two cents, I know it's nice having your own framework, but you might spend so much time on the framework you'll be too burnt out for any actual content.

EDIT: forgot to mention, they sold good too (I'm sure you tested that vanillia, but I'm talking my save with several other mods)

    0

  15. yeah i'm using PH but it takes them forever to update the damn thing. I'll give this a test here soon and let you know wot I think.

EDIT: One thing I'll point out before I start it up, So what is your vision for this? What do you expect to end up at? You know, what are you planning to add?

    0

  16. EDIT: Nvm... read the page before,  didn't read what was a few posts above mine.

All i care about really is modding. Sure, I'll finish the vanillia game once or twice (though mods that enhance the questline increase that (Like the TTW mod we have here :P)) but after that it's just full-blown modding and killing.  Thought about asking for november off for work, but I know it's better for december because it'll be patched by then....

Right now i'm just waiting for Fallout Shelter. I'm a happy (poor) android user that got passed up for FOS and i'm mad.

You can drop all the ideas you want. I just can't promise I'll be able to act on any in a timely fashion.

sure, they're pretty lengthy/complex ideas so I don't expect any of them to be finished tbh. just some musing.

    Powder Gangers:

    1. After completing Run Goodsprings Run, the player character helps turn GoodSprings into a prostitution town similar to what Nipton was for the NCR before the Legion invaded. Some quests would be

    - Killing Joe Cobb and becoming Mayor. You get food and water for free everyday, as well as caps from your bottom bitch who collects your earnings from all the towns former female citizens/prostitutes (the men were forced into slavery to become farmers or prostitutes).

    - Choosing a bottom bitch from either Trudy, Sunny, or a new character (maybe Chet can be a gay prostitute?)

    - Negotiating a treaty with Motor Runner. He'll trade you some Fiend whores for a steady supply of chems.

    - A former drug dealing powder ganger who supplies you with chems once in a while if you get him a personal whore.

    Caeser's Legion

    2. The player character helps the Legion enslave parts of the Mojave

    - Once the player character kills Mr. House Caesar awards him/her with a player home, some slave girls/men. and a few legion soldiers. Slaves can repair weapons, provide meals, and sex. Legion Soldiers act as simple companions to help you fight your battles against the NCR.

    - The player then helps the legion capture key parts of the Mojave, like the Mojave outpost, Ranger stations, Novac etc. Killing the men and enslaving the women (or enslaving the men as well).

    - Legion breeding program. Caesar asks the player to be a stud and breed with slave girls to produce strong children.

    - Maybe quests that have you capture NCR troopers and break them.

may i second this? The Legion needs to take better advantage of the female chars they enslave, and that sounds like an idea. But why not also help the powders with some caravan raiding? Male and Female chars that didn't do the enslavement can get caps and captures, while females that went through the enslavement do it because they were told to?

  18. Precisely, it's nice knowing it exists. I do the hero paths too, but there is still a mandatory evil play through.

I guess I'll just give it a pass then and buy it on sale. I can't fork over sixty bucks for my sickly character to go gather barries...

..(being responsible for Bowdaar killing Mission Vao in Kotor 1 still makes me feel dirty...^^)

0.0 You can do that!? I missed it! Its the wookie mission, isn't it? Grr...

  19. So, I've been a big fan of DnD games and Obsidion games, played the heck out of baulders gate, NWN, Planescape, and...  you probably get the idea. I've been toying with the idea of getting POE but i'm a little shakey on it right now and here's why.

I'm sick of saveing the fucking world.

Seriously. It's always "Hero with immense power saves the world." How many games do you know of that fit that phrase? See, I'm cool with saveing the world and all, but I want to play as a bad guy too. So almost every game i play,  why do i always feel like the good guy path is more fleshed out? Seriously, in the NWN games, you're either a good guy or a phycopath. There is no 'lawful evil' or really even 'neutral evil'. correct me if i'm wrong, but basically the two biggest ways of getting evil points is by killing innocent people or demanding more money, which occasionally locks you out of the quest. Or you could always flat out refuse quests giving valuable evil points but therefore refusing valuable EXP and resources (I remember more optional good quests than evil quests. I guess being able to kill everyone makes up for the lack of evil rewards in quests?)

I guess my question is this. To those that have played POE, how good are the evil choices? If i want to play as an evil dude, is it mandatory to kill every kitten or puppy i come across?

  20. I've read that article and many many more.

I have been in many threads putting up my opinion as well as basic facts on this topic.

As far as the freedom to get paid for modding you can always put your mod behind a paywall right now.

As long as your mod doesn't contain assets that belong to Bethsada,

Any Asset belonging to BSG must be provided for free and free to download/use/examine.

Your assets that you have created with 3rd party apps must also obey the rule of law and Terms of Service for those programs.

As I see it people demanding the "freedom to sell" are overlooking these facts,

    1) anything worth selling already has an available venue to sell said content through other providers.

    2) Most modders do not have legal rights to sell content via 3rd party apps, which will have a consequence at some unforeseen point for as large an entity as Bethsada Games Studio's parent company should be concerned.

    3) The primary piece that easily could be used to sell content would be the Creation Kit, although the outcry quickly showed a direct problem that was quickly examined by major publishers that major investors pay attention to "Forbes Magazine" and "Times Tech Head."

3a) Most of the success of BSG is owed to the mod environment, the sales of the game Skyrim has reached Top 20 sales of units sold for a game.

3b) Competition will from now on start making use of modding tools to propel the success of their own titles, a paid program would be quite a boon for competing companies that offer alternatives.

3c) Having paid version and free version is a hugely bad business model that doesn't make since in the real world and opens up Zenimax to serious issues with public image.

    3d) Pay Scaling is laughable.

I can continue on with the issues, but I hope to stop with just this.

No matter how many of these threads have cropped up by wishful thinkers, I have yet to see one individual make any mention at the very least of approaching the popular providers of said 3rd party apps to create a dialogue to enter into what would or could be a real legal mod market for gaming.

What I see is, "Dang I want to sell mods."

Instead if you really want paid mods, you'd really have to approach companies such as 3DSmax, Blender Foundation, Nifskope, GIMP, Microsoft, and a shit ton of other companies I cant name cause I don't program.

But mostly its I want paid mods to make money off of the fruits of my labors, so therefore it must be!  I'll just sit on my ass until someone else magically does the work to make it available.

    Counter Argument #1

"Paid modding already exists on Valve/Steam"

The thing here is that Steam is owned by Valve who provides a sales platform for not only media as in games but also a great deal of programs and software used to create the assets.  If there have been any objections to these paid mods being sold having used 3rd party apps illegally we the general public don't know about it and it certainly hasn't been our business to know about it.

Now consider this the scale of sales for something like Skyrim far exceeds the scale of games that use the paid mod program on Steam.  Far more people play Skyrim Daily than anything else.  If paid mods were to be a thing you really think companies missing out on there hard earned well deserved dollar would still be quite?  Nope.

The real trouble with it all is that its very hard to keep educating people on this over and over.  There are far more things that would need to be covered and in far greater level of detail up to talking in legal speak.  I would hope that my time as an educated man is valued enough that I don't have to write a legal essay on this matter free of charge.

If you have to have paid mods,

    1) Create a Petition

    2) Generate awareness of that Petition

    3) Get at least 100,000 signitures

    4) Approach the said entities that you think you need to agree on said future product

    5) Engage in open dialogue with said parties

    6) Create a business Model

    7) Find a way to prevent loss of money due to potential lawsuits

    8) Launch said product with a games release

    9) Cross your fingers and hope that the other competing companies don't launch free mod software alternatives...(This has already started BTW)

    10) Find a way to placate investors that are more interested in proven sales track record due to free mods, GOOD LUCK BUDDY!

    END THREAD.

Educating people over and over again? Oh boy, thank you daddy, please edumacayte me in your ways.

I thought you lot would be happy that there wasn't going to be paid mods for FO4. Yet you prove me wrong. Way to go, mate.

    0

  21. Yeah you won't find many posts opposing free mods, it's just we would like the freedom to sell our mods if we liked, but the whole selfish "want everything for nothing" attitude of the community, because mod users probably outnumber mod-makers at least 10 to 1 of course their public outcry will win every time but they don't really win because denying modders that freedom of choice is what has driven good mod makers away from the community forever.

And why isn't this either in the FO4 thread or a Paid Modding thread.... we have enough FO4 threads already.

I put this here with a link that basically says there won't be paid mods so people would stop complaining about it. Apparently i have too much faith in humanity. When it had a slim chance to be a thing, they complained. Now that it's not a thing, they're complaining. Teaches me.

I didn't search for a paid modding thread. I searched the general discussion threads and didn't find any mention of this, and it didn't occur to me to search for a paid modding thread (Although, judging by this one, I would've been downed out within a few minutes by people that have trouble reading more than one post in the topic)

I do apologize for not using the designated threads. It just torques me like a fucker that these idiots think they're entitled to something. It's why i stopped doing public modding, i just don't have patience for clenchers.

    0

  22. I'd also bet that most of the people complaining about modders trying to earn a little extra cash are the same ones that think they should get $15+ for saying "would you like fries with that".   Wanna know how many people will say THAT isn't a real job?

Ditto, dude. I actually didn't know it was published on Steam, looked at it after i read your post (First guess, sadly. Why under Skyrim and not fallout?). But yeah, most people don't know the kind of work that go into big mods, ESPECIALLY those texture improvement ones; and then people complain about having 'paid' mods when most play freaking Elsword or WOW or whatever, which are all pay to win. They'll fork over fifteen bucks for better equipment that'll go obsolete in a month and complain about a modder asking for a buck or a few cents for something they went out of their way to do. That's why i felt obliged to make the post; it's getting to the point where it's insulting.

and for the rest of you, read the second line in my post. If by some slim chance beth decides to go paid mods, go ahead and shoot me. until then, complain about something else.
