At this stage, my antivirus, CCleaner, Malwarebytes, SpyBot, and now Kaspersky have failed to find & destroy whatever is causing the problem. This is weird...

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet, and this thread is over a month old, but there is another important step. Run Windows in Safe Mode; with Win 10 open Windows Help, search for Safe Mode, and it should let you reboot to SM. If you don't have Win 10 (no experience with Win 8/8.1) you can do it just by hitting F8 as the computer is booting up or searching as above. I'd highly recommend this be done anyway once a month or so, running CCleaner, Malwarebytes, SpyBot, antivirus, and any other such programs. In SM those programs can identify and remove nasty viruses that otherwise get loaded and/or evade them. Many antivirus programs also do an in-depth scan if they detect Windows in SM so it's as much a preventative as a fix. Just be warned that things might take hours to finish.

I'd also recommend using CCleaner's "Shred Free Disk Space" option or another program that shreds such (File Shredder, for example) at least once a season. All files leave behind shadow copies in a computer's memory buffers, usually tiny but they can add up over time and eat into your hard drive and even memory. These shadow copies are what investigators and techs use to reconstruct what was on a hard drive so it helps protect privacy as well to shred the free space. Identity thieves love exploiting those shadow copies to steal info. It's uncommon knowledge and easily overlooked by even the most security-conscious people.

And no, a reformat does not necessarily purge those shadow copies. They're stored in the firmware (hybrid software-hardware) and can still exist unless you use a file shredder or expose the hard drive(s) to strong magnetic fields at the extreme.

As we speak they are ripping out licensed stuff, introducing annoying 'features/bugs', and probably tying it to their distribution platform.

Sadly, 'tis true. Bethesda has a lousy track record for "debugging." Leaving it to modders to fix their messes seems to be their credo.

  3. Malwarebytes and SpyBot. Get them, learn them, love them. Both pick up things that pay-to-use antivirus programs won't, get updated signatures frequently, and offer passive protection from literally hundreds of thousands of known viruses, adware, malware, etc. They've saved me a lot of woe and aggravation. Just remember these are not replacements for a true antivirus program; they're supplements.

Another program I recommend is CCleaner for cleaning up your hard drives and Windows registry to keep your performance up. This kept my last rig going strong before the cooling systems began to die, despite being eight-years-old and seeing heavy daily use.

The Transform Package hasn't been updated to work with PSQ 3.x (3.2 as of this post). The file paths are different so the current PSQ TP won't work with it. Given that PSQ is currently being updated nearly daily we'll have to wait until its author has finished fixing it before the TP can be updated. It sucks; I like the new version of PSQ but I just love this Transformation Package. Roll back to PSQ 2.17 and have TP usable or stick with the current PSQ and no TP? Decisions, decisions... :P

  5. I've had this problem myself. It was caused by my own custom plugin setting the Duration of spells too high. Specifically, I set Candlelight and Magelight to last 12 hours and that caused the crash; lowering them down to six hours fixed it. I'd imagine that setting spells, shouts, and powers above a certain Duration using the CK would cause this same issue.
