Some of you may remember me, most will not. As Is I came in like a locomotive back in July/August and immediately dove into modding. Naturally I bit into the hardest kind of projects first... Just derpin it up. Anywho, Just when I was on the cusp of getting a stable rebuild of Slave Town built and ready for release... AGGRO... And lots of it. Like many modders, hell like many people, I have a offline life involving two jobs. One pays the bills and the other eats my Saturdays... and at times the whole weekend, but being part owner of a hobby/game store does that. Plus I've been running a regular World of Darkness tapletop RPG for some time... Also sticking a fork in my Fridays.

Oh and my pays the bills job hates me. Har har, They don't like rabble rousers like me who want to unionize and make the workplace tolerable for us grease monkeys. And if things go South I'll have the kind of free time I do not want.

And with FO4 a few days away. I'm not quite abandoning my pet project "Slave Town" I had adopted. But RL comes first and I may have to return to modding in the future when time becomes available to take on new projects. With any hope, I'll be able to support my efforts in Skyrim as a foolishly brave into the wasteland in the future as well. Time will tell.

The hell was I thinking... OMG tits! wait wait... Umm err. ya. Okay. WHERE ARE MY TITS?!? Oh...nevermind... wrong gender. Whew. Crisis over.

So. Onto my latest fiasco... Slave Town V2.xxx

So I dove into the mod full force and goddamned if my brain hasn't seized up on an hourly basis. I should have just lit my nuts on fire and screamed things about the glory of Valhalla until the local trigger happy police put me down. But I'm learning... like a slow-tard chimp suffocating in bubble wrap.

    Lessons learned...

#1 Respect. I mean Jesus-H-Montgomery-Christ... Both to mod authors and the tutorial makers. 50% of my time is on YouTube and the other half of my waking hours is inside the diabolical crash kit fiddling with things. It takes a lot of work, more than I expected. I'm not giving up... OH HELL NO! Nothing gets done by quitting before actually doing something. But my hats off to the other modders and supporters.

#2 Confusion. Being a newbzilla modder is akin to child regression by data overload. Often I'll tweek a variable, only to break another. Research, get lost, find something close to halfway to where I want to go... tweek some more... Spaz out... and after a few hours I sit at my keyboard drooling with that blank stare babies get while smiling in amusement at discovering I have a penis or that I'm about to wet myself. Advice for new modders, prepare for fustration and confusion... and possibly diapers.

#3 TL:DR. I'm noticing a trend... BIG BOLD LETTERS IN BRIGHT COLORS... do not always work. While doing my daily trawling of the support forum I'm overjoyed to see both ideas and bugs... until I scroll down and feel my tits seize up halting my mammaries from producing life giving milk... wait... uhh, crap... See #2. Anyway people report bugs that I've already put on the front page... (insert dissapointed face) or somehow bypass the warnings that the mod may implode or not work right... and then ask if said mod has been properly fucked into submission... dafuq.

#4 I'm a dumbshit. In my haste I think now that I released a wee bit early... Ah hindsight you sneaky harlot. Getting the green-light by the admins lit a fire under my butt and the excitement fast forwardedededed my decision to slap that badass back into the spotlight. So when I get around to the Darkwind Island reboot, I know now to slooooooooow down on release, just a little bit.

#5 CK is more robust than I thought! Holy crap-sticks... There's a lot more there than I first thought after dinking around in other mods doing mere touch-ups. Some of the ancient tutorials that are over an hour long with only a few views are jam packed with details many shorter tutorials don't have. Some of it I haven't seen in common use, and to use Skyrims power, you bet your knickers I'm adding in that stuff!

So what does this mean for Slave Town V2.xxx?

Full steam ahead bay-be! With a few alterations to my original plan....
After hitting aliases and scripting and having Papyrus and NotePad++ do a combo rimjob and skull fuck to my brain... I've come to feel that my nooblet skillset sucks way to hard to really push it around to where it needs to go. So with accreditation still given to the original author I'm moving to cannibalize the assets within and slow cook it with a light honey glaze. V2.1 will still be available until I can get the revamp really good. Or at least the OMG he isn't abandoning it intro done... we shall see.

So I have begun peeling off the skin so it looks and feels much like the old Slave Town people love but I'm shoving new guts and gristle inside. Right now I'm revamping the Bee and Barb scene to be a different kind of intro where Ravone the Dark Elf is not what he seems, and possibly cutting Keerava out of the mix or at least less prominant to the quest. The whiterun scene has been totally reworked (Has yet to be plugged in to the overall series because I'm basically remaking much of the mod from scratch.) Now Gideon walks up to the player (you) and kicks off the quest should you sit down at the bar and wait a moment.

Yeah, nearly from scratch... Some of the assets such as NPCs and Locations have been cloned, but for the most part I'm building it up in a different manner. After (SPOILER) blacking out to wake up a slave (SPOILER) Quests won't be simply linked straight to Master Plavus, you'll have the local taskmaster kicking off a chain of mini-quests to work your way to the master for a special task. Similar in fashion to a guild quest like the companions or dark brotherhood.

It will take some time to fill in and get rolling to be sure. Especially since I found the scripting for gender references! (Some of the people who gave me feedback want some manly action... I looks like I can provide a bit of that with some practice... SCRIPTING!!! sheesh.)

So, Game on my fellow Goblins and Goblinettes!

(Oh and heres a silly promo pic.)

(Somedays I think I'm a lesbian trapped in a mans body. Or a Thespian trapped in a mailbox...)

So If your curious what the Goblin has been doing... Well the Momo preview pics are eeeeh fairly accurate. Turns out the head hates me though. I thought I had everything nailed down tight. Then I'm all like... Waitaminnit... And pulled the assets out of my load order and disabled the mods plugged in on the build. (Mind you I had already dinked with NifMerge and NifScope before this thanks to a well timed suggestion.)

But alas. Momo V.2 had issues. The feet were just a few clicks and BAM fixed. All my building was snazzy tight and worked... but the head. Two days and a temper tantrum later I scrapped V.2 in fustration and began assembling V.3. So far the pieces are falling into place fast. (Odd how fast one can build a custom follower after repeatedly failing many times over.) So I asked an expert and sit with my anvil slowly cooling awaiting a hopefully insightful reply.

I really don't want to give up. Not when I came so close to getting everything sooooooooooooooo close. But after 3 weeks of struggling with just one body part I have both found a new respect for modders who have put in the time to build literally anything... And a newly aquired desire to be an alcoholic.

But what about picking up the pieces? The title of my rant.

Well to avoid an early aneurism screaming at Momo to just work as intended, Iv'e had my eye on another mod for a few weeks that I really wanted to crack open and mess around with. One - for practice. Basically finding out how the engine works by getting under the hood. Two - It's long since abandoned and I think nobody would mind if I adopt it. (I asked around on the forums and the replies were helpful and encouraging.)

The mod is "Slave Town" by former L.L. member Iamtheonewhoknocks. The main file page is listed as guest, and after poking around the original authors account has long since been closed. The forum chatter ended long ago as well. Also the forum chatter was rather supportive of the mod itself, so by giving it a facelift, perhaps I can breathe life back into an old mod.

So far my update goes as thus:

    TINKERING> Slave Town V2 ~ Remix of a classic L.L. exclusive mod.
(Ready for release - V.2 Game Goblin Remix - Pending: testing of edits.)
Abandoned mod. After asking around seems okay to adopt. Poked around in the mod for a few hours - Renamed "Modern" names to "Lore" names of various NPCs. Edited dialogue to be more abusive toward the enslaved. Rewrote some in-game items to be more "Lore".

Yep: Tinkering - I have little idea what I'm doing atm, and learning as I go, looking at what controls or influences what.

Yep: Remix - There is room for growth and expansion on whats been built. Already I got a great suggestion to enhance a scene. Where Dovakiin goes through slave training. It's like a slap on the butt and off you go. For the masochists of L.L. I hope to make this a much more bondage influenced scene with much much more punishment... A real slave breaking scene with nastyness aplenty.

Yep: Modern to Lore - My first test run left me with that look... The one like you can't believe you just did something and want that time of your life refunded. The names really rubbed sandpaper across my nuts. I DO NOT LIKE SANDPAPER ON MY NUTS! Minus one NPC (Who I left intentionally with the original name as a hat-tip to the original author.) I already went through and made the names of NPCs lore friendly.

Yep: More lore - I included a sweep of dialogue fixes / balancing / editing / etc. Sure there's still some nasty modern words... hard to avoid. But I added in some new stuff for variety... Ever wanted to tell your slave master to go gargle troll jizz? Now's your chance. Also touched up some items and other misc in game text here and there. After all the original presentation was good, but grammar nazis and loreophiliacs would get headaches. So hopefully my first run will be a more fun run for everyone.

A few more days testing my own work... basically proofreading at this point, and fixing things I may have missed, and I should be ready to upload.

P.s. If you made it this far... I love you! Haa Haa! (There's also orphaned stuff in the files I hope to include as I remix the mod! YAAAY!)

Til later my fellow Goblins and Goblinettes, GAME ON!

P.p.s. Ideas, suggestions, wishlists... tutorials... gladly accepted!

After much rage and anger over fighting the default head overriding the custom one, I finally hit a breakthrough thanks to a helping hand point me in the right direction... Slowly my first custom standalone follower is coming together... Here's a preview. Hopefully when I get to the part of adding a custom skin the neck seam will be a memory... Fingers crossed.

Oh by the divines! Are you actually reading this?

    Seriously?!?

Okay, Ahem... Well then. Where do we start... Well long ago when a pint sized terror was cracking open 8-bit games on an old 286?

    Naah... Lets get more recent.

And recently I'm over-fucking-whelmed. Perhaps it was from exuberance. But I'm making headway into actually modding stuff... like for real. Delzaron who has wrote 'From the Deeps' and 'A Forsworn Story' was kind enough to unwittingly give me permission to dive into his work, 'Ravenous' and go bugnuts crazy fixing things here and there. I did warn him, I have no idea what I'm doing. But after about 20 hours of fustration I sent back workable dialogue edits. Honestly yeah, I should have read up on tutorials or watched YouTube all day long. But since I was a wee squirt, Iv'e always learned by getting grease and dirt all over myself making a mess then putting it back together.

And HO HO HO what a mess!

I find myself, caught up in 2 more dialogue projects that may or may not pan out. A hodge-podge webwork of followers to brew up... and an abandoned mod is calling to me to break it into little pieces and put it back together. Honestly, I'm really weary of that last idea. Even though the original author hasn't updated the mod in nearly a year and his account has long been abandoned to Guest status. I don't feel it's right for a noobzilla for me to swoop in and take it over... Despite being a really good mod with alot in the way of potential.

So yeah, I may not be a modder, just yet. And I won't say I'm one until I actually build something in Skyrim or FO4 by myself. But consider this message... if you actually read this far... my official entry into the modding circut. Oh and if your curious... FOREVER FREE!!!

In that I want to thank the following people who helped inspire me to step up my game and hammer out stuff...

Delzaron: For letting me edit his work, knowing I'm a clueless noob. (And even adding me to the credits for Ravenous!)

CPU: For giving me a chance at creative writing, hints on using the CK, and a detailed guide to creating custom followers.

Ashal: (Duh) For this site, and attracting a mature community with mature content!

Crysumpom: For being my first tag team partner!

DocClox and Swiftstep: For actually answering my questions... with style! Helpful and straight to the point. Not used to that.

Hopefully someone will tell me if it's cool to adopt an abandoned mod. Because I'm sorely tempted. Until then I have a battery of ULTRA-CUTE companions and milk-slaves to put together and toss to the community, and some behind the scenes creative writing for a couple folks and just in case Del gets a bug up his butt... Still on retainer for helping translate if he asks.

Not bad for a clueless twit with 20 hours of mashing buttons in the creation kit... I think I need to slow down.

Til later my fellow goblins and goblinettes. GAME ON!
