  1. I am not part of the moderators or the Admin, however that being said:

    • Personal backups should be fine in any location you need for access depending on how you do your backups. In fact I would say it is even advised.
    • Uploading for possible distribution isn't allowed unless expressly stated and in Sexlab's case it is only to be distributed through this forum.
    • This also applies for older or obsolete versions of Sexlab as well

Added info you may or may not know or do or do not do.

    Advise for use of mods:

    • Collect the copies that you need, might need (updates etc) when convenient so you have them.
    • Keep all mods you download backed up with needed info for restoration, how to problem solving, web links etc
    • Only dispose of those mods that are seriously broken or no longer usable for you.

The above saved my "bacon" several times.

As for the site going down. Yes. I experienced the same thing. Yes it is annoying, however I have been here for quite some time and when through three forum changes and each time the same things happened. Various problems, web not being accessible when I wanted it etc. In each time in a reasonable time the site stabilized and interruptions were rare, mostly related to general maintenance.

  2. @ zippy Thanks, for the response. I am getting very long loading screens now even the black screen from one cell to another one (not the pretty one with the picture that rotates). is getting longer, and longer. I however.. don't get a crash.. well a true crash just a serious hanging on exit. Like it was waiting for something to finish up. Not a crash like I gotten with FNV.

(yes I can use the full @ but for my system for some reason i never get to select. with the above I waited for 5 minutes. Seriously.. this is from the time I typed it in and watched the clock. So Sorry everybody for not linking you. Since the change the web pages for this site has been extremely slow to open  and work with these features. Might be due to the increased traffic

Has anyone else found the ravens particularly freaky, I've shot 2 now that seemed to be Synths. I think they are watching me :)

    Spoiler

All Ravens are synths. They escaped and spread across the United States.

On a more serious note. The loading screens seem to be getting very long. I don't mind a few seconds (10 or so ) if the game is stable which for me fAllout 4 has been for the most part (sometimes on exit it crashes for some reason).

male PC would know how to jump into an advanced piece of tech like the Power Armor, but no real explanation for the female PC.

This I agree. However Raider and junkies managed to get one working in this game.

Now there are a ton of head-cannon reasons for her to know all this. My current toon is based on Beatrix Kiddo from Kill Bill (the bride) and in my head she was an assassin and trained killer and her whole life with the husband was a facade (think if Bill never crashed the wedding).

Also I thought about her being taught subconsciously like Demolition Man how to be Wesley Snipes character (skill set not personality) They came for the baby because he would be easier to raise and mold as opposed to the mother.

That made me thing of Mr and Mrs. Smith. A team of Assassins. :D

This was very entertaining when I went to find the person that kidnapped her child. He was completely accepting that she was tough and determined. Several comments about her personality.

However .. since the family was specifically chosen for this vault every aspect of their life are cataloged and examined. In the 40's and 50s personality profiles and Phy test were the rage. It was thought with enough info on your personality etc someone could map out most of your life. Skills and capabilities. The institute likely had that info and more to base their choices off of and they choose the boy and later if needed the mother.

However I do agree there is more actual info on the character than was needed for play. Makes it difficult to really role play.

  5. There might be some issues as you increase the size of the folders (mods installed) as the game engine might struggle to find the files. Not sure on that.

I can't tell what you are doing to cause these problems. Just try and review the original PDF download from the main page of SCR tutorial. Follow it step by step completely. If there is a step that can't be followed the structure is different that indicated let me know. I will check and update the mod. Which of course will give you answers to the question.

The steps in that tutorial are advised to be taken in order given however if necessary I believe it can be taken out of order if needed. Just make sure all mods have been added.

You really shouldn't be having these issues. I suspect you are confused on some basic aspect of the process or cutting corners one or the other and both can cause problems for someone that don't understand what is happening.

  6. There should be no mod folders. The sturcture according to the tutorial is

    Quote

    Step 3: Verification of Installation
Check the SCR Resources folder and you should only have the following:

    • Meshes
    • Textures
    • Sound
    • SexoutCommonResources - VegasChokers

The PDF that you can download for further info states to open up the mod folder drill down the folder until you find the Meshes, Textures etc. Then drag those over to the newly created SCR resources folder. Not to drag the mod folders over. The structure for the files is wrong and they won't work that way.

I advise you to download the PDF, then follow each of the steps in order which will be more detailed and in the end you will end up with the resources above.

  7. .txt shouldn't cause any problems. The problems occur when the files aren't in proper order. You can basically put any random crap in there so long as the folders and the files are in the right locations the game will find them.

You somehow installed the files wrong to cause this. At least this is 90% of the causes.

You are opening the files one at a time and finding the Textures, Meshes, and Sound files and dragging those over to the folder correct? Like the PDF describes. ?

  8. Yesterday I spent 20 minutes dodging and hiding on the Highway sniping the Raiders at the Cordova plant (think that is how it is spelled :P) They just kept on coming at me. I was hit randomly for 5 minutes at times while I was trying to safely find out where the hell the dam Raider was hitting me from. For a short time I thought "Oh hell no. Shooting me through concrete" until I realized that those smart asses managed to get to the very top parts of the plant and was sniping me from that position. Barely able to be seen. Took several minutes to take those couple of raiders out. The closer ones were one shot one kill however. :D

I took a break and went and got the power armor. (didn't need it really but wanted to tryout my upgrades :P) Went in and to the right and just jumped down with a thunderous noise that made everyone aware I was there. I just slaughtered three or 4 or so Raiders that were napping. (I took on the interior at night. :D) Went up the stairs to the other side and just jumped down, blew up the automated turret and just started spraying and praying :D). I could barely hear anything from the Raiders over the noise. Blood splatters everywhere. Then went up the side towards the exit to clean up the last one or two that were quick enough to get under cover.

When through the sides and cleaned up the rest from the offices and front entrance (main entrance) paused for a moment and laughed at the monkey clanging away :D. and then went to the factory floor. Sprinted (wasted some of the AP = fusion core) and killed the individual on the floor and just started spraying the balcony. The Raiders and especially the leader did try to take cover where ever possible. As good as other games I have played.. Oh hell no.. however reasonable.

The Power Armor channels the feeling of a walking tank better than the previous games. It seems to be tougher. It at times almost felt like Bioshock "Big Daddy" when you played that. What we need now is a giant drill.. :P

This took me about 10 to 15 minutes. Wasn't over easy or overly challenging.

  9. Invisible body glitch is because you have installed the mods incorrectly. The Mesh (I believe) is missing. IN any case the resources you need for those armors aren't there for the game to use. There are two types of these glitches. Giant Red ! and invisible body. You have the Head and hands but not the body.

You I assume did install the files however the paths are wrong. The game can't find them and give you this result. There is a check at the bottom of the tutorial (the PDF has more details on the installation)

    You should only have a

    texture

    Mesh

    BSA

Files in your folder that you are creating. More details on the PDF

It is a common issue. Once you get use to solving this issue and verifying your files you will have little problems with this sort of issue in the future.

  10. The individual that takes the baby turns to her chamber and states " at least we have a backup" or something like that. There must be a reason ;). Something about her and the son that is important.

Who knows. Perhaps she met her husband on base and her father was a general ;). She might have been a base brat and if so she would have some info on how some of that stuff worked and being a general's daughter on a base, she might have learned how to shoot and do some basic hand to hand.

Yes. She would be less likely based on the 40's mentality keep in mind that women during wars took over major manufactiring plants (mens job) construction and any thing else that was vacated during times of war that men traditionally did. ;). Rossy the riviter. ;).

Women during that time did do mens jobs and since this games history divides from shortly after ww2 around there. This is a serious possibility. She might have not been working as a lawyer but during the time her husband was "away" she worked in other jobs to help "Victory" and through this she gained a wide assortment of skills that aid in her being able to put up turrets and such. That combined with the fact she is a lawyer.. shows she is very intelligent. It is pretty easy to become a lawyer correct :P

    Hope that helps your dilemma.

so I figure I should keep up to date on what the "main" files for SCR that get updated frequently are.

As for the external resources from SCR. There hasn't really been any actual updates. There are a few extra meshes that haven't made it into the maternity clothing that Halstrom has on his thread. I believe most updates or files recently added would be kept with Halstrom. I really haven't had to make any alterations to the tutorial for months. and even then the update was to remove an asset that wasn't available any more :( Nothing that would harm the game.

SexoutNG and SCR might have a few more recent changes. But those files should be available on their download pages. Get those and everything should be fine.

If so for this you either exact the BSA or add SexoutCommonResource to the front of the BSA. Might be causing missing texture if it is not. (at least for this file.).

    Quote

I don't really need the tutorial--I've already got that set up

yes. I imagine you do. However I referenced it just in case. It does have all the assets (external) that was needed. If you don't see something there just add it. Worst case it overwrites the files. No harm done. ;).

    One more thing.

If I want to backup all my mods, load orders, mod list (basically everything I have done in Mod Organizer since I installed it, which folders do I backup and keep in a safe place?

    I backup the:

    Mods folder

    Profile folder

Downloads folder (If I don't want to download everything again, useful if you drag LL mods into that folder to load. Neat to keep a backup of the mods (versions) you are using ;). One central repository of all the mods currently being used in any MO config/profile.

any extra configuration files etc like customized categories etc. (if I did that :).

The main thing that might be easier and truer as a newer user is to zip the entire thing up .. put a name of the game/ version of MO/ date backup. Takes a bit of space but in time you can clear out the extra "stuff" you don't need or want as you move forward as you get more used to MO and what you want/need and how you use MO. ;).

Thanks for the answer and the tip. Will try to convert gif into animated png until this option is enabled in attachment.

@Ashal - just noticed that "Back to the top" button disappeared.

I also have that problem. It happened I believe sometime yesterday. Was actually coming to this post to comment on this :). The Elf Prince was faster than I.. :D. I am afraid my scroll wheel on the mouse will break at this rate. :P

Also still would like the option to go to last read post when opening a thread. .. pretty please @Ashal

If the bolt is a plus only, this means that a mod will overwrite something in an above mod. A minus means that a mod is being overwritten by a mod loading after(below) it. Both means, obviously, both. A grey/silver bolt(redundant) means that all the files added by the mod is overwritten by something else, and thus will not be used when the game runs - which could be a problem, it depends on the mod.

As for dealing with conflicts, if MO detects any in your mod list(left pane), then it will display a 1(or whatever number for how many problems) in the triangle on your toolbar, as well as making it red and white instead of greyed out. Clicking this will give you a list of problems(as there can be ones like "Files in your overwrite mod", Potential Mod Conflicts, etc). Choosing the "sort" option next to "Potential Mod Conflicts" will try to place the mods in the best order for them all to work. Alternatively, if you click the problem(i.e on the text, not the button), then you can see order that MO suggests you move some of your mods into.

The conflicts tools that MO gives is a very powerful tool. You can move mods up and down and see the conflicts. If for some reason you need to have a particular asset from a mod present you just need to move up or down.

I would first let MO warn you of problems with the mods and make the changes, then go through and make minor change you need to make the assets you want present in the game. Finally there is a feature that allows you to hide a file from one mod. Say something is present in the game under many mods. Hide the parts you need to. advanced users can create a patch to win out each and ever time just place those files in a custom created mod (extracted those files :D and placed themin a folder ;)) and leave it towards the bottom.

MO is powerful tool. It can pretty much allow you almost anything you want to do. Next best thing to manual install without the messy aftereffects

I don't need to own the game to know that i will never, ever like that Bethesda removed the whole "be who you want to be, play as you like" aspect of the game, and replaced it with established characters with fixed motivations and traits. I don't need to play it to know that i'm not interested in a main quest the boils down to looking for a baby that i never wanted or cared about in the first place, and want nothing to do with. I don't need to play it to know that i didn't like Mass Effect's dialog system in Mass Effect, and that i won't like it here either. I don't need to buy it to know that i wanted more RPG elements from a FO game rather than even fewer of them.

I do however feel a strong need to vote with my wallet, and telling Bethesda "if you're going to remove my favorite feature from the game, then you don't get my money". That's the only real voice i have.

I agree. Seeing the video play, listening to the descriptions and feedback gathering other sources can give one a very big idea if that is something they like. It can also show Fallout fans that this game isn't' like what they are used to, many changes have been introduced. Those might not be something that someone likes. Playing it won't change that fact. Playing it might make an individual think it isn't as horrible as they thought it was but won't make them suddenly change full circle and "love" the game.

So an NCRCF enslavement through Tryout gave me a red diamond on my Courier, so clearly I missed a resource update somewhere down the line.  Can someone tell me which files I should download when there's an SCR update?  Or should I just use that torrent, will that have everything I need listed?

    25 minutes ago, Halstrom said:

Its probably a Tryout mesh, and unless there's enough specific info or patches submitted to do fixes there isn't going to be any more SCR updates, I don't have FONV installed anymore.

Besides that more info is needed on what the armor that was giving a red diamond was, when it was wore even better the id number or at least name. With that .. maybe someone might be able to help guide better. If not the best that can be said is go through your downloads and make sure each one you are suppose to have is there. My tutorial will give that info it is pretty current from when Halstrom made the last of his changes before removing Fallout I believe. Follow that tutorial completely you are pretty well set. (SCR wise that is provided you install all Halstroms assets ;) ).

Not as much as you might think.  Todd Howard's 'character sculpting' isn't real sculpting.  Replace the Skyrim chargen sliders with key strokes and the mouse wheel; that is the Toddler's idea of scuplting.  There are still Mr. Potato Head head parts but now they have limited RaceMenu functions.  In other words, Todd Howard is crowing about a Bethesda achievement that was perfected by a modder 3 yrs ago.  Thing is, RaceMenu will actually allow users to sculpt.  That ain't happ'n with vanilla FO4.

Yea. I thought the same thing when I saw that. Shame they didn't go farther on that. I am pretty sure they could have done this without much difficulty or problems. I haven't played many of the other games with character development like this (create character) however I believe from the videos and end results they are better, correct? If so why would Bethesda cut that so short when it seems as if they acknowledged that they needed/wanted the feature?

About the pimp/breeder problem I got maybe an idea.

Can you not simply rewrite the Impreg-ray-script to a Pimp script?

Because if you use the impreg-ray on cass she will become pregnant got growing belly, with birth and her baby spawns in her Inventory ( through the gun she got a P2- Belly and pregnant with a Bighorn( I noticed it after her birth) after some days I got the message that cass clothes are too tight and she removed them, shows a bigger belly up growing to size 7)

The tight clothing (non changing pregnancies) aren't necessary the fault of the mods. The armors / clothing being warn just dont' have pregancy meshes I suspect.
