From Win 7 you can upgrade for free to Win 10. Still not SO outdated

win7 64bit is a good choice for an outdated system I have an old XPS M1330 Notebook I still use and win7 runs nicely on it.

yes, Guard dialogue Overhaul is a must. And 3DNPC too... And Levelers Tower...   Cleaning a mod with TES5edit is really really simple.   Open TES5edit, right click on the list and select 'Select none' Enter the modname in the search field (I always copy paste from LOOT) click OK. Wait... When the loading has finished, right-click on the file you want to clean and select 'Apply Filter for Cleaning'. This will take some time too.   You'll see that the mod and it's masters (they get loaded automagically) are colored now. Right click on the mod again and select: Remove "Identical to Master" records (if ITM records were present) then, Undelete and Disable References.   when that is done just close TES5Edit. Answer YES to save the file.   Voila! you are done!

In general terms, I found that the overwrite folder of MO may cause all kinds of crashes. Try to  rename it to overwrite bak, then check if the crash still happens.

I actually followed the guide to the letter, because I have a new laptop to play with and don't mind spending a few days fiddling with the setup to make it stable and awesome.   Still I'm missing the complete list of mods to optimize with ddsopt, and I somehow missed what to do with HD Enhanced Terrain...

Could you, maybe, please please add a line for the PHASE 3: ENB / ENBoost, that downloading DirectX fixes the initial crashes? It took me a few hours to find the solution.   And you recommend setting EnableZPrepass=true but the setting has been disabled from v277 -> http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENBlocal_INI/Performance   For PHASE 5 replacing the instances of "Ordenador" to "DDSopt" may help to diminish the imminent confusion of the reader. Could you also suggest the output of the optimized mods? The Overwrite directory? Only 3 mods to optimize?   ------   There is no 02 Compressed Textures folder. Only "02 Diffuse"    

  I also tried all kind of workarounds, but finally I downloaded the DirectX file from here and ran it, that fixed the problem.

Makes sure the textures are applied to streams.   File does not exist   --------   "Manually download all 5 parts of Skyrim 2k HD"   You can have MO download all parts, install each one, go to the Mods directory and copy all to one new directory... Or do a MERGE for them, installing all in one directory.

...Scroll down and download the "Optimized INI Files uGrids 5".   You should really swap the editing of the files and the copy operations to first edit, THEN copy, and not vice versa.

MO is portable. I moved my MO to the folder Games on the D:\ drive, which also has another subdirectory for downloaded mods.   If you move MO, you have to edit the ini files to reflect the actual path to the utils you configured earlier.   Skyrim / Steam is also not installed in Program Files, but in d:\Steam   No problems with permissions ever.
