Estus, Aquinas, and Other Problems

Edit: Hello, folks. Brand new to modding but think I've gotten it down somewhat on where to put files and how to do load order but still a bit confused on some things.

1. From what I understand there's mods and then there's add-ons that they require(which go under the main mod in load order). So far I've tried Elsweyr and Estus but with Elsweyr it works fine except when it comes to NPC dialogue. The only choice that works correctly is the Rumors. Any other and the NPC doesn't speak but the script still plays out even though I hear nothing, the NPC's mouth doesn't move, but can still make choices to further the dialogue. Doesn't matter where or which NPC they all have the same problem.

2. As for Estus it only partly worked at first(the NPC would be naked but frozen then do nothing else. Continued usage of spells began causing crashes. It's at the point now that I get a window saying it can't find HumanTouch.ini when I load the game. I couldn't find any such file with that extension in the game folder so I extracted again in temporay folder and no .ini there.

3. Configuration Settings files. Have a bunch of these in the main game folder(not under Data). Is that the right spot for them?

4. Lovers mods(more crashes but may be due to some not being in right order)-can they all work together in the same game or can you only play one at a time? Will spells from mods like Estus work in a game that has Lovers?

Trying to get things ordered properly with little knowledge is always the fun part...

Any help for these questions will be greatly appreciated.

1. Most mods do not contain sound files (that is a shit load of work that few are willing to do). So silent dialogue with subtitles is VERY common.

2. Go back to where you downloaded Estrus from and re-read what that mod requires. You must have all of the required mods\utilities installed or things won't work right. Load order is also VERY important for many mods.

3. Since you provide no file names it is immpossible to tell if they are supposed to be there or not. They could be there as a result of you not installing them properly or they may in fact belong there. General rule of thumb: Don't mess with it if you don't know what it is.

4. Load order VERY important!! Notice how many times I have said that?? Some lovers plugins can be combined with each other, some MUST be combined with others to work correctly, and some you must choose one or the other. The OP of each lovers plugin should provide that information so it is a wise habit to learn to read the OP of each mod you download to see:

1. What it is.

2. What it does.

3. What it needs.

4. What it is not compatible with.

Finally, yes Estrus will work just fine with lovers.

Woah, quick response.

1. Think I didn't word it properly. There's no sound or text, just the NPC doing the normal eye movements and nothing else while its side of dialogue plays out. Only time text appears is when I need to respond to whatever it was the NPC said(which is guesswork since I didn't see or hear anything).

2. Have done that before posting and still have the issue. I have many other things installed so there's possibly a conflict with one of them. Just started learning about this stuff 2 days ago so will just not use it until I get more comfortable with how things work.

3. Being a noob to file extensions I assumed that there was one spot for them. They are called Motion and go from 01_Motion to 303_Motion.

4. Yes, I've seen that repeatedly while browsing forums the past 2 days. I'm just at the "confused noob" part right now. Looking forward to becoming a pro.

Turn subtitles on in the menu. For everything. Also get Ely's OBSE silent dialog file that'll give you eight seconds to read the text instead of two for unvoiced dialog files.

Give us your load order, and we might be able to tell you if there's a conflict or not.

Always read what's required for mods. It usually sums up to some, all or none of these:

OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender), COBL (Common Oblivion), MBP (Modular Beautiful People) and body mods (HGEC, Robert's).

Of course, individual mods may require different mods, but those are the most common requirements.

As for the motion file, you'll have to tell us where they came from.

Quick edit: You need OBSE for Estrus... It's the most common reason for it to crush. If you have it, and are running the game through the OBSE_Launcher, try pushing Estrus further down in your load order and see if it helps.

Yes, you can use most Lovers plugins together, but not all. Plugins should have "incompatibilities" listed in their individual plugins, so always, always read the readme.

It seems I found right spot for the .ini(which apparently are the Configuration Settings files)as I no longer get the previous error but now get error that Lovers With PK Motion 9 Missing which is odd since I'm looking right at it in the list with other motion files.

Would have been very helpful if the Rev 91 actually had a readme. Makes it a bit difficult for newbies to know what to do. Heck, I'm so new I actually had to learn how to copy and paste before putting load list here...

Edit: Yes I was loading through the OBSE for Estus. I moved it to different spots lower on the list but still having a problem so I just turned it off and will deal with it later.

LPK will go crazy if any of motions 1 through 9, along with their ini's, are missing. All actor LPK motions should be in data\meshes\characters\_male\idleanims\ani2.

Also, running Friends and Lovers alongside LPK is... Ill-advised.

And, you can take your load order from Wrye Bash. It's more advanced than other utilities, though.

Yeah it went a little crazy. The female npc I was trying to get with did some moves that pro breakdancers would have been proud of....and my character turned pink. Not a good look for her.

Your load order is a mess. In post 2 I gave you a link to a proper lovers load order which you have ignored. Until you go back and resort your lovers plugins to the correct order you are going to have all sorts of issues.

Now this one I "know" is wrong. This was probably caused when you installed pack 2 and said no to overwriting. That is just a guess and if it is true then you are going to have to go back and reinstall pack two and say yes to overwrites.

Why are these "below" your bashed patch? They should be above it but just under the MBP stuff.

Please go and get BOSS and run it. Then hand sort your lovers files per the load order in the link I gave you and your game will start working a whole bunch better.

As to running FriendsAndLovers.esp with Lovers with PK - it is a flat out No, No! You can't run two competing sex mods together. Sooner or later you are going to have problems as they start conflicting with one another. Choose one or the other.

Ok first off you need to stop with the passive/aggressive crap. Since I got here every post from you has started with smart-assed comments(which I've noticed on numerous other threads as well). If you're going to help, then do it without the attitude or say nothing and I'll figure it out myself sooner or later which I have already done.

Second, I did not ignore your list. If I had then there certainly would have been a bigger mess than what you found. Since you did not have everything I had, how then was I to know where to put them at the time? I've only been doing this for a few hours over a 2 day period, most of that spent looking for answers on the forum, trial-and-error, and testing.

3rd, I had already noticed the BU mistake last night as well as the Lop-Ear conflict and already fixed it as well as turning off Friends mod as Thatone suggested earlier. I had also moved misplaced files to their proper location and now have a smooth-running game.

I think I've done well for someone who didn't even know how to cut and paste before coming here let alone know anything about file extensions and where to put them, then also trying to learn about mods.

Seriously, take a break from this for awhile. The frustration you are experiencing from the noobness seems to be having an unhealthy affect.

Considering the fact that he has to repeat these kinds of things multiple times for each new user who asks these questions (which there are many) I think he's doing a damn good job at keeping his cool. Looking through entire load orders for errors and then typing out responses can get tedious and tiresome over time.

That's actually an extremely polite way of describing a load order that has no chance of working well, if at all and shows every sign of a failure to read readmes (A cardinal sin. Yes, I know reading isn't 'Kool'. It is a great way of making things work though! The world depends on people who read).

You are reading insult into something that just isn't there. I tend to repeat and\or stress things in the hope that you and others will realize their importance. I have to assume you don't know anything and work up from there.

What other way can I break "your load order is a mess" down to? If that personally offends you then, you are going to be in a whole lot of trouble at other sites who "may" include a link to a general modding instruction site if you are lucky.

If I was all that you claim, then I would have just said something like "hey dummy, go back and read post 2" and ignored you until you did.
