Lovers without MBP / MBP ++ etc?

I've been checking out this forum for a few days now, since I heard about Break Undies, and some of the mods you have on here sound amazing! Only problem, is that I cant get MBP to work in my Oblivion. If I try to install MBP (I can only find the OMOD version), I get an error before I even press "Launch Game", so in other words I cant even install the race, let alone try it in game.

Its not that I simply dont want to use MBP, I like anime style characters, but I also like western style characters, and since Im having a lot of trouble making MBP work (or any custom race except Corean for that matter), I would like to just try out the lovers mods and plugins without having to install MBP, because MBP doesn't work for me, it wont even let me activate the OMOD file (it says failed to compile #C, or something like that, then it deactivates itself).

I thought that maybe this is a mod order problem, so I thought "maybe I should try BOSS again", but the last time I installed BOSS, it messed up my load order SO bad, that this happened to Oblivion:-

As you can see, not a very nice effect! It also messed up the sound, NPC AI, distant land LOD's, Moving between cells. Im surprised I was even able to turn the game on LOL!

Basically BOSS ruined the game and the only way to fix this was to re-order EVERY single mod one at a time (I have nearly 100 mods), so I really dont want to have to go through this trouble again lol. I DEFINITELY dont trust BOSS to mess with my load order anymore.

Again, its possible that all my issues are being caused by load order problems (For example, NONE of the pose mods work for me anymore, maybe this is the reason), but I dont know much about load orders.

Anyway, all I want to do, is have the ability to play these cool sounding mods you've got on here, but it seems like its going to be impossible for me, because MBP wont even let me activate its OMOD!

Right now Im using the HGEC body, I've been using it for about 2 years, because it seems to be the best body available, also my character is a vanilla redguard male, and all other NPC's are also vanilla. The only custom race I have is Corean, but it works fine. I also have Rens Hair-Pack, as part of Corean. Is it possible that the hair pack could be causing these problems?

Anyway, hope somebody can help me out. Id REALLY love to try these great mods!

Edit: I forgot to ask! I know its a stupid idea, but what would happen if I downloaded Lovers PK, then tried to use the LoversMagic when I dont have MBP? Also what is the "Stupid NPC" plugin lol, sounds interesting! LOL I just recounted, and I've ACTUALLY got 147 mods! Definitely not fun to have to re-order by hand!!

Okay.

First off, if you use BOSS, use this masterlist: LoversLab link. The "mainstream", constantly-updated masterlist doesn't deal with Lovers and similar mods well at all. The downside of this is that any newer mods, created or updated since the last time the above-linked masterlist was updated, will have to be ordered by hand.

I use the above masterlist with around 100 mods as well, including MBP and many Lovers mods, and it works perfectly.

Second, if you're using lots of mods, particularly cosmetic mods such as MBP and other race-adding mods, you're probably going to want to use Wrye Bash (TESNexus link). Bash seems to scare a lot of people off, but it's really not that hard to use once you get the hang of it. I could walk you through it if need be.

Third, MBP is indeed a big, hard-ish install, but there is a very good installation walkthrough located here: LoversLab link. It even has all the handy download locations for you. If you would like XEO-type mods as well (alters NPCs to use MBP resources, gives the game a more anime/everyone-is-beautiful feel), there is another good list of links here: LoversLab link. The site linked in that post for MBP also has MegaUpload links, if you prefer it to Mediafire. It's in Japanese though, but the links are easy enough to spot.

Here's the order I prefer to do things in, and it generally results in bug-free(ish) installs:

1. Install mods

2. Run BOSS with above-linked masterlist

3. Activate everything except Lovers mods

4. Create a bashed patch

5. Activate Lovers mods

PS: Many Lovers mods do not require MBP at all. The main one that does is TamagoClub (pregnancy mod), though there are others as well. Most of the vanilla-ish rape/sex mods do not: Joburg, LandE, AdultPlaySSP, Creatures and its related extenders, etc. And slammer64 linked you to a thread with no-MBP patches, which generally worked pretty well for me, but be aware they are "beta" mods and may cause some bugs/glitches.

PPS: If you are using many gameplay/other mods as well, not related to MBP/Lovers, here is a good general guide for what order to install them in: TESCOSI link. Please note this is not a load order list, merely an install list, based on how likely certain types of mods are to overwrite changes by other types.

Thanks a lot to both of you for the detailed help and advice. Yea Wyre Bash scares me too. I wanted to use the "(forgot the name lol)" mod that allows you to see outside from interiors (All natural? Immersive interiors? I cant remember), but JUST before I D/L'ed it, I read that Wyre Bash was required, so I went to get Wyre Bash, but when I saw it I was like ".........erm......Oh! Look at the time, I better be going, back to simplicity avenue lol"

Yea I'm really not that experienced with the inner workings of even OBMM (or more specifically how the load order works). I only recently learnt that mods are loaded from bottom to top. I found a site which has a load order example [code]http://devnull.sweetdanger.net[\code]. It helped me somewhat (that sounds posh LOL), and I started to re-order every single mod again after reading the info on that site and applying it to MY mods. It took me a long time, and I'm not sure if it even made a difference, I should've remembered how the game performed BEFORE doing this, so I could compare, but atleast now my order is HOPEFULLY a bit tidier!

While wryebash can look intimdating using the bashed patch is actually quite simple. There are a large number of good tutorials and even youtube walkthrough's so don't be afraid to get it. The problems it will solve will make you wish you had done it a long, long time ago believe you me!!!!!!!!

Don't forget to get and use BOSS before running wryebash as Iron_Jack has stated above. I am running in excess of 270 mods without any issues thanks to Boss, wryebash and tes4edit!

From that it seems the real problem is screwed up skeletons. In short, the Skeleton.nif and skeletonbeast.nif for the Characters/_1stperson and characters/_male sections.

Do you run VORB? if so, reinstall the VORB skeletons. By the way, I'd highly recommend using VORB.

Do you run Deadly Reflex 6? if so, reinstall those skeletons (but not if you use VORB. instead, just use those.)

BBB? install the skeletons that came with that.

Note if your running one or both of those with VORB, just install teh vorb skeletons, since they were designed to work with both DR AND BBB. if your using Deadly Reflex with BBB but not VORB, you'll need to get the patch for that.

I for one know of another issue that crops up and that's googly-eyes. I run both RBP and lovers so yeah it's a problem.

If your using Lovers modularly (the default option), then slammer64's link should work for you.

if your using Lovers merged though like I do... well then you're pretty much screwed. Luckily i'm working on a plugin that lets you use RBP or Vanilla instead of MBP. So far Its coming along nicely, I should have a release of the non-tomango version tonight or tommorow. As for the tomango rendition... ehhhhhhhhhhhh......

Due to X117 i'm gonna have to figure out how to get around that.

Thanks guys, I've been away from Oblivion for a while, since I've been playing the new Deus Ex and doing some painting & decorating lol, but I'm starting to miss my adventures through Oblivion so Im gonna get back on it. I'll have a look at some youtube videos regarding stuff like BOSS and Wyre Bash too. I've never heard of VORB before, but I dont use Deadly Reflex or any custom skeletons, not even a bouncing breast system. I really like the look of Deadly Reflex but for some reason I've never tried it. Also I've been banned from the Nexus forums because I asked too many questions about disappearing XXX mods, so now I think I'm pretty much screwed, in terms of TES/FO3/FNVnexus that is, atleast I can still get lovers mods though!

Sorry, I don't check this thread much so I missed your post.

As to your question....er...sort of. MBP adds in hair, races, and such that you can custom build your PC. It does add a few npc's (at least it used to anyway) and does effect a few of the games npc's as well but it is only a few.

I think you may be thinking about Xeo which changes ALL the games npc's.
