Rattling Fan Fixed?

Okay, had a bit of a heart attack/break down today. Got home, turned on my comp. After the initial, perfectly normal stage of whirring to life, I started hearing this awful rattle sound. Having experienced something that sounding slightly similar (but not exactly so) when installing my graphics card, and a wire was dangling into the fan, that is what I thought it was. I turned of the comp and opened the cover to check, and nope. Still kinda fiddled and pulled at the wires to make sure, and left the cover off as I plugged it back in and turned it on. Whirred to life fairly "silently" as normal, no wires going into the fans, and then the rattling started back. Now worried, I put my ear up and tried to determine which fan it was coming from, but couldn't really tell. I unplugged everything and removed the graphics card, tried it again, the the rattling started again, this time, I was fairly sure it was coming from the fan over the heat sink. Unplugged everything again, put the graphics card back in, and out of options, and grasping at straws, I did the only thing left I could think of before turning it in to a repair place.

I got a can of compressed air and blew it into the fans and places in the comp.

I started it up, and the rattling is gone.

So, have any of you experienced something like this? Can a dust build up or dust simply lodging into a certain place make that rattling? Or did it just randomly fix itself? Should I be worried about it happening again? Is it a different problem that still needs to be addressed? If it does happen again, will more compressed air solve it?

It's possible if you get a piece of dirt or something it there that if it goes below the fans it will rattle.
