Windows 7 Information Required

XP was pretty good (just that it started running slower the longer you had it)

Vista was just garbage and i laughed at all "computer" stores that where promoting all laptops with Vista like it was the most glorious OS ever and i knewing it sucked ass...

7 is really good i mainly got it because i had a PC upgrade and XP can't get above 2 GB RAM (because Microsoft installed that limit themselves for some dumb reason on all 32-bit versions)

If you are a friend of touch screens? use Win8.

If you doesn't have any idea about touchscreens at your home pc, stay with Win7 64bit.

You want to use XP, also? You can virtualize it with Virtual PC by Windows under Win7.

If you want a great free OS for work, without serious gaming? choose a linux derivat. i prefer xubuntu.

actually; i use win7 64bit for all my "entertainment systems" (gaming & woman)

at work i use linux and win 7 pro 64bit.

- Media Centre came with Windows 7 when you installed it.

- The codecs for playing DVDs were in Windows 7 to start with.

- 2 GB is for the operating system without anything else running I have 64bit Windows 7 and when in use it doesn't even go over 1GB.

If your Skyrim is using 6GB then your doing something wrong as mine never goes past 2GB

Pretty sure I made that point already. That it came down to a pure licensing issue. Though you do get it for free if you want. And seeing as how all dvd and blueray players have the decoder built in you're not losing anything.

Just because your usage of windows 7 is low' date=' doesn't mean it's the same as everyone else. Allow me to show you.

And properly optimizing how Skyrim, along with texture packs will let you use huge amounts of system memory. Not only increasing load times but dealing with caching.

Definitely go with Windows 7 if you are still using XP. I went from XP to 7 and 7 is better by a long shot. It really is a great OS. Very stable and reliable. If you can, get the 64 bit version.
