Emily

Annoying Advertising banners.

30 posts in this topic

Emily feels a bit upset with strange porn advertising banners on adult forum community. Including the one she sees on LL every day. A proper ad blocker is in order, But Emily needs a good user recommendation on decent Ad Blocker.

Any good ideas? :(

Sometimes the banner can be outright disgusting than appealing.

It makes Emily spit her drink and choke on her cakes more often than it should.

This need to stop.

TEmily, that depends on your web browser. If Firefox, there is a large choice. Just selecting one or two of the main ones should do the trick.

Install AdBlock plus works great for Firefox.

Combine that with noscript.

I actually didn't even realize LL had ads, lol.

Noscript basically prevents your browser from running scripts from specefic sites, as well as any site not the one you're on.

So here on LL when I check noscript I see the following sites.

loverslab.com < no suprise it's the site I'm on and I'm using those scripts to edit a post w/o moving pages to the edit page.

googleapis.com

ajax.googleapis.com

google-analytics.com

^ well I don't want google tracking me, so I always block their shit execpt when using one of their sites, if a site wants me to not block it's ads it'll host them itself.

And the last script is from cloudflare.com

Cloudflare never has worked for me anyway, so I've had it marked as untrusted for ages as well.

Is it true youtube has ads ?

I've seen them while at friends houses w/o noscript/adblock, but never seen them myself due to said programs.

Yup Adblocker Plus :D

No YouTube ads or anything even blocks most pop ups with ads in em! (Works great for download sites that open a ad window when you first click download...)

Oh, thank goodness for your question, Emily. I know this is quite old, but I did a quick google search to try and find something that could block these ads, and now I am using Adblocker Plus with success. :D No more ridiculous porn adverts for me, woohoo!

C'mon guys! Ashal needs to pay to keep this site up somehow! Without ads Loverslab might not exist today!

Even still I can (to a degree) agree with you guys. I'm seeing the same ck juicyads.com ad again and again on the top of the page. It is getting a bit old. However I won't be using an adblocker.

Agreed, and since the support button has gone months ago (for some reason I don't know), LL has been in my adblock exceptions list. But I'm not sure how exactly those ads do some good on Ashal. Is it ok with just seeing and watching them or should I click them? Oh well if I should click them.. sorry that's too much hassle for me.

Up to you. I appreciate not using ad blockers so the ad impressions count, anything else is your call.

Our question was more: Does it matter to you if we click on them from time to time or only the displaying of them is giving some cashflow?

Cheers!

And I was specifically avoiding advocating clicking or not.

So for us using said ad blockers, is there a way to contribute by other means?

Donations are fine if you feel so inclined. My paypal is jefflong.s@gmail.com

Accepting donations on an adult site such as this is against paypal's terms of service, which is why there is no longer a donate button on the site, as my previous account was banned from paypal as a result. Should be fine if done directly though.

On the subject of ads, I try and keep them to a minimum as much as possible. Registered and logged in users have much fewer ads compared to guests on the site, both to keep the annoyance factor down and to encourage people to register and participate in the community. Currently ads as they are cover the site's cost of roughly $200 a month, with just a little bit left over, which I'd consider just fine, I'm not looking to cash in on the site, just provide a place for people to go and cover my costs. If I wanted to be greedy and enable all the ads regardless of your logged in or not and I'd easily double the revenue. while contributors and moderators have 0 ads shown to them, I keep my own account showing all ads as if I weren't logged in, that way I see any particularly offensive ads I can know to block them. There's been some really gross ones in the footer ad I really want to block, but can never seem to find it in the settings to block it.
