Oblivion wont start after additional mods

Hello there.

I had Oblivion up and running with the Lovers with PK esm and other base functions. I played it for a bit, just to get the hang of it, and today tried installing a number of the main Lovers mods. However now the game wont work. The screen goes black for a moment before returning to desktop.

I have nosed around on the forums but Load orders are very confusing for me as some just seem to be mod-specific and can vary depending on the mod being referred to. It's left me wondering if there are mod conflicts, given the superseding nature of the load order.

I suspect I either have conflicting mods, the load order wrong, or missing mods. Likely a combination of all three!

I will list my mod order below. The files are esm unless otherwise stated. I have marked with an "X" mods not currently checked in OBMM.

Yeah, you are missing loads of mods.

Remove all the mod esp (just delete them should do it) and install this

That mod contains everything you need to get going.

You will need to install some other stuff as well but I will go find the links and all for you now.

Next, I need to see your real load order via OBMM or Wrye Bash. If you don't know how to get it via those, just click here: http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=6133

It is just a matter of hitting a couple of buttons and then copying\pasting. No need to type anything.

Also at that thread on how to obtain your load order is a Master Load order that will keep things working smoothly.

Just some notes from your posted load order:

Tamago plugins need to all be up above lovers plugins (esp files).

You are running multiple versions of the same mod:

LoversRaperS

LoversRaperSGalgat

You can't do that as it will totally jack things up.

Redo your load order per the one in the spoiler at the link I gave you and see if that doesn't fix you up. If you still crash then post your revised load order per the instructions in the second link I gave you.

Beautiful People 2ch-Ed.esm is used in loads of the lovers plugins.

x117race.esm needed for TamagoClub

The game is loads better with them in my opinion.

As Ark stated, if you are running Tamago Club plugins then yes they are required. I really can't answer whether they are needed for any other plugins without seeing your current load order.

For the load order that you posted previously, only the Tamago Club plugins require those two plugins.

Oblivion is very load order sensitive so just having a few mods out of order can break everything.

The downloads have finished but given a fair bit in the readmes seems to be in Japanese it's left me confuzzled.

The MBP mod seems straightforward enough, just copying over the data folder but I'm assuming the "_Option" folder goes in the Oblivion data folder as well?

The x117Race download also has a "_Option" folder - is it okay for these folders to be merged?

The Universal Skeleton download is really confusing. From the main folder there are three subfolders of Controlable Skeleton, For Modders and Total Controlable Skeleton. There's a ton of subfolders, all culminating in .nif files, which I am not familiar with. Do I just need to pull the preferred .nif files from the appropriate folder and drop them in the main data folder?

I'll go get started on revising that load order ^^;;

EDIT: I've found that the HGEC Body with BBB mod includes "Coronerras Maximum Compatibility Skeletons", so I figure I can use that instead of the Universal Skeleton download.

The "options" folder is just that. You will need to pick and choose as some are duplicates. Oh, don't drop the "options" folder anywhere as Oblivion won't read anything in that folder. All esp\esm files must be in oblivion\data or they won't work.

Universal skelly is simple - just use the "controllable" one. The other two are for advanced mod makers and users.

Don't use Coronerra's skelly. Use the Universal one. The universal one "is" an updated version of Coronerra's.

Greg, as the Coronerra's skelly is part of an omod file, will using hte Uni Skel .nix file override it?

Also, I'm having trouble locating the Beautiful People 2ch-Ed.esm. The files I have downloaded are the MBP plus plus, (Full and two Sub files). The install procedure in the link below:

Says both files are multi part files and ultimately need to be merged, but I can't seem to access the Ravishare link. It just goes to "generating" and sits there.

I'm currently downloading a torrent for an omod called MBP1.4a+MBP++0.98a+x117++078+Aio, which presumably is all these finnicky files rolled together into one.

Yes, just install the universal skelly (controllable version) after you instal the body OMOD file and it will overwrite it and you will be good to go.

You need to install MBP ver1.4a prior to installing MBP++ v98. MBP++ is a very large addon to MBP.

For multi-part files - if they are 7z files then you just extract the 1st file (the 001 one) and it will pull from all others.

Yes, the AIO is everything you need already bundled together so it is a bit easier to install.

Righteo! The good news is the game is working again. Bad news is there's a lot of messages bombarding me that I don't really understand half of what's going on lol!

Some stuff, like the odd HUD dont appear to be working, I disabled the Lovers Aphrodisia and HUD as it just seemed to be an in game way of adjusting your stats, which I can do via the control console. I also disabled some of the rape/creature functions as I didn't enjoy getting mounted by a heard of horses. XD

You can't use LandE with Joburg. Pick only one or the other. They both do similar things and will conflict.

If you disable lovers creature then you have to disable this too I think: HiyokoGeneratorCreature.esp

By the way, lovers creatures does not "cause" creature sex. Joburg and Lande control "stalking" which is what turns those creatures on to come after you. With Joburg you can dial down the settings for creatures stalking you by casting the joburg settings spell. I think LandE has similar features but it is an old plugin that hasn't been updated in a long while.

Thanks. I will disable both Joburg and LandE and see how things go.

At the moment, I can now initiate sex, but the female has no body (I am a male PC), and after awhile pressing the keys the couple end up encased in bright yellow and blue blocks. Also there doesn't seem to be sexual progression - there's no orgasm.

I've adjusted the load order as you said and will give it another try. If it's still glitching I'll report back on the morrow. Thanks you again for your help!

You are correct Ark. I mistakenly assumed that they were mutually exclusive. I just looked it up on the Japanese blog and it appears they can be used together. Good Catch.

Thanks guys. After adjusting the load order I now see the female body. The hair can vanish inexplicably and the yellow and blue blocks are still there, but I'm assuming I can work this out through further fine tuning.

The yellow box means that something has gone wrong on installing the resource pack or base pack. Reinstall the resource pack and then the base pack and those should go away. You may have to install PK extender again after doing this.

Oh right. Will that just be a case of copying the files over again?

I re extracted the resource pack and base pack, merged them and will re-paste them into the data folder, over writing the current files, then check the game again.

Yep. Just unzip to a temp location and then drag\drop the files\folders in and say yes to any over-writes.

Hmm... seems to have made things worse!

Some of the voice options folders cannot be found... the female body has vanished again... I will try reinstalling the Extender but that had some duplicate motion files that were over written...

I'll also take it back to an earlier save game. Could be the constant mucking about has made the current save game unworkable.

Nope - that's killed the game entirely!!!

Just going through the load order lists kicking about I've noticed I don't have the Bashed patch. Is this something I should get?

Just going through the load order lists kicking about I've noticed I don't have the Bashed patch. Is this something I should get?

Yep. What you need to do is download and install Wrye Bash (standalone version) and then use it to make a bashed patch.

I don't encourage you to ever "lock" your load order. You need to be able to manipulate it and the lock feature prevents it.

Yes, Extender has duplicate animations that do overwrite existing ones. You will need those animations for PK extender to work.

Before going overboard on starting over, try disabling all but these lovers files:

I did a clean install, using the Oblivion 5th anniversary edition. The following mods were not used:

As a clean install the game worked. I reinstalled OBMM, OBSE etc, and all the mods I had. I had the same result as before, with the game crashing to desktop. I checked the Lovers list as you suggested and got to the main menu, but either starting a new game or trying to load an existing game once again resulted in crash to desktop.

I don't know whether it's significant but I think part of the problem may lie with Lovers PK Extender, Lovers Hiyoko Shooter and Lovers Tamago Club. But of course it could also be in any of the other mods you told me to deselect. Once again, my current load order is below:
