RAM HELP

Ok so i have 8 GB RAM but for some butthurt reason windows only uses 6 while my friend has the same 8 GB but windows uses it all.

Now today i started up my PC and while loading it just froze and woulden't respond i turned it off and on started windows and now i have 4 GB?!

This thing is now so damn slow -_- and only have 1,7 GB left out of the 4

Help?

Windows 7 64-bit

Asus M5A97 PRO With a AMD FX-6100 Black Edition

Also it just went down to 2 GB got 700 MB left ._.

Iam behind 1 version if i recall... but Asus BIOS updating in a safe way you need software that require like 10 other programs and patches to work

Try taking your RAM out and resetting it back into the motherboard.

Did that right now with 2 these seem to work fine!

Found out that one of the 2 i use now is broken... I don't think PCs run with just 3 Cards?

You can fine a PC run with just 3 RAM cards. It will run even with just 1.

Older PC's used to require matching pairs of RAM, depending on your MB you may be able to run odd numbers.

He has a modern motherboard gregathit, running 8 gig of ram, they haven't used parity ram since the original DDR, so he'll be fine.

Well it was always 6 GB totally used and always keeping 2 GB back for some odd reason
