As you probably know, the default speed multiplier value for the player character is 100 in vanilla Skyrim. With this value however, walking looks unnaturally slow to me and I always raise this value up to 140 by using the console command player.modav speedmult 40. Yes, 40% faster looks the most realistic to me, but obviously that's a matter of taste.

I wasn't even aware of this option. I hate how slow the walk is, so I'm going to have to try this. I've been searching for a way to use a 360 controller and the mouse/keyboard at the same time, if not for anything to control my characters walk speed better. But I guess this could work too. Seems like it effects speed in general though, so I am guessing 40% is probably the highest I should go without becoming Roadrunner?

I'm not 100% sure of this but the size/scale of a character might also be a factor when calculating movement speed.

I want my cute little Imperial to look more purposeful while walking. I don't want her to look like a tourist who is visiting Skyrim for sightseeing. I also want her to be able to catch up with other NPCs while they walk purposefully, they always seem to outrun my character.

I used to configure AutoHotkey to be able to move the mouse cursor with a xbox controller, so I guess this program will do the work. Let me know if you want to try it and find it difficult to use.

Thanks I appreciate the gesture, but I've already come across this. While it could be useful for some, since I use SkyUI and use its search function a lot, not to mention I prefer the mouse for aiming with a bow or a spell this just doesn't cut it for me. What I'm looking for I am pretty sure doesn't exist. Pretty much something that allows you to use the 360 controller and Mouse/Keyboard fully at the same time. Other games have this feature it's weird it's not workable in Skyrim.

Yes, yes, and yes I hate when NPC's out walk my character. It breaks immersion. I'm playing as the custom Lovergirl Race though I tweaked the race slightly in the CK in terms of Text data, and made them essentially the same height as Breton's. I'm about to boot up Skyrim, so I'm going to give this a try.

Just have to say I've been playing the game all day, I used this console command and I am REALLY happy with the results. 140 is perfect! Once again thanks for making me aware of this console command bjornk no longer do I lag behind NPC's while walking. Also I haven't noticed much of a difference to my characters speed outside of walking so 40 seems to be the sweet spot. ;)

I am going to try this console command today - the walking speed has always annoyed me so much.  I don't always want to run but the walk is just so slow.  Thank you so very much for this information :D
