Performance Friendly ENB (The Oblivion one )

Recently there was a topic about Performance Friendly ENB's for Skyrim.

Seeing as people were rather helpful I figured it is about time I ask here.

It is well known that I LOVE screenshots and have a gaming PC but sadly this gaming PC (for now) is outdated by a few years; roughly 3.

So I wanted to know of a few really good ENB's that will not kill my performance when playing.

I had one a while back (forgot the name) I loved it but it totally killed my performance :(.

Anyway if people can give me a list/names or links I would be happy.

Also this would be helpful for others looking for the same thing as I have not had much luck on my search of this forum of people asking such a question.

FYI if there is another topic maybe I over looked it or feared to nercro the post.

Thanks in advanced :).

Well, if you just would have gone to the downloads button and then scrolled down to oblivion at the ENB homepage you would have found the two versions: http://www.enbdev.com/download_mod_tesoblivion.htm

There is also a customized version here: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/42743

I myself use version 007a.  Due to the fact that I have a 560ti vid card, I have zero fps impact.  With a decent dx 10 video card IMHO ENB is better the OBGE ever was.  However, that is just a personal opinion.

NOTE:  Much of the performance issues can also come from what settings you employ.

Personally, I use the OBGEv3 controller. Not only does it allow you to set several presets (which it will activate automatically), but it lets you change any setting in real time to allow you to take whatever screenshot you want quickly & efficiently.

It performs pretty well as long as you steer clear of the AO shaders; those will devour your fps before you know it.

Thanks guys, if anyone thinks of others let me know.

I really want that nice vibrant look to my game.

I guess I am asking for quite a bit though x_X

Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder so that is far too vague to be of much use.

Here is just a regular old screenie of ENB in my game:

I am using OBGE but I actually find it a bit of a pain, tried to uninstall it just earlier today and just kept getting black screen (followed the instructions on their site to the letter). In the end I had to reinstall it and drag all the shaders back into place (which I fortunately backed up before deleting as per the uninstall instructions)

It also causes me to not be able to minimize Oblivion (when playing in fullscreen mode). Upon trying to restore the Oblivion Window I just get nothing =/ (not sure if this is just me tho). Anyhow I did get round this by using something on Steam forums called WindowsBorderlessGaming.

So if you go for that be careful with it =/

Thanks for the feedback thus far guys.

This is true though beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

This one was called ENBSeries-26291

I think it was this one.

See I love like the look it gives but goodness it occasionally kills my performance to a near halt :(.

Something like that.

Oh yeah btw even though it is not performance recommended I reckon anyone who likes how it looks can download it via the link provided :).

Well, the OBGEv3 controller should easily be able to achieve that look, with minor loss in fps (if any). I'm not sure what uninstallation issues FinalCloud had, as I've never experienced any.

The only downside to the controller is that it's creator abandoned it a long time ago. It's fairly stable, though it causes a slight freeze the first time it loads (that is, each time you first load the game in a session).

A possible alternative is Screen Effects on the Nexus. I've only used it briefly, but might work. Notice that it also has the freeze at first load issue.

Hmm I will have to try it again then,

2 Questions.

Sorry I sometimes get confused.

But one would be how do I access the Controller?

the other would be more or less how would I get that nice blured(?) look?

Seems when trying to press the config buttons (page up) nothing happens.

But this game from a quick google search.

Is it OK I ask what link you used? Sorry to be a pain ><.

I'm afraid the link I used won't help you much... It's from the days Shy was still up. Here it is though, if you want the instructions or something:

http://www.loverslab.com/topic/1269-obge-general-guide-discussion/

For the controller itself, I re-uploaded it just for you:

http://www.4shared.com/zip/x1h66YV5/OBGEv3_support_plugin_fixed.html

Have fun.

If page up doesn't work, you probably didn't edit your ini.

Remember to do the following:

Before you are able to use the Controller, you need to edit the Data\menus\main\hud_main_menu.xml
If you don't have it, extract it from your Oblivion - Misc.bsa

Once you opened up hud_main_menu.xml

Find:

<menu name="HUDMainMenu">

And add below it:

<include src="OBGEController\OBGEController.xml" />
