Blender nif import problem

Hey noob question when I import my .Nif skeleton into blender it always appears from the top is there a way to change the view so you are looking at it horizontally and not from top first? see picture for reference.

Press number pad key 1 or 0 depending on your version.

what did I do wrong far as the erasing the skeleton in blender? comes out so disproportion and the feet and hands are not attached as a whole.
