My list of possibly problematic mods

Posting a list like this, is bound to cause argueing, because for a single individual (i.e. me), it can be hard to be 100% certain, that bad behaviour is exclusively the fault of a single plugin. This is because:

1. Two mods might conflict with each other, even though according to their features, they shouldn't. Who is to blame then? Mod 1 or Mod 2?

2. It might must be a certain version of the mod, that makes trouble, or it might only conflict with a certain version of another plugin.

3. There might be not immediatelly apparent conflicts for ressource-files, or a mod might not correctly state dependency on 3rd party ressources, assuming everyone has it because it's popular (and quite possibly, most could have the deps, thus them having no problems)

4. Given the many possibilities of loadorder, the plugin may work for a certain loadorder - yet the order is different from the officiallly recommended one, and different from what intuitively would make sense.

5. I might simply have done something wrong.

Because of the above, this is NOT a list of "bad mods"!!! What this list might be useful for, is if you have problems, this list might give you ideas which mods to look closer at, thus potentially cutting down on finding culprits. So, it's a "if you have problems, take a closer look at the following mods, if you have them"-list.

In every single case, the list below only includes mods, where i could accurately isolate them insofar, that if i disalbe/remove just this one mod (and perhaps clean up its data), then do a cleansave, the problem went away.

------

1. CM partners: Crashes on loadscreens. Doubleface bug on fasttravel. Possible scripts-desync, if you run it alongside newer COBL versions, because it overwrites COBL files.

2. Companion Share & Recruit: Double-face bug, AI buggery (you might no longer be able to fuck some NPCs, even if you give them the "do as you like" order, and even if you dismiss them). A simple cleansave will not fix this. You need to dismiss the affected NPCs, THEN do a cleansave.

Update: "No-fuck"-bug might be related to incompatibility with tamago (thanks dman). This implies you might also need a tamago-datareset to entirely fix it.

3. Dynamic drink and eat: regularily crashes if NPCs drink/eat. No crash for PC-anims (fixed this for me, by editing the scripts, to ignore NPC drink/eat).

4. A plugin on nexus, that let one multiply skill gains for archery. It regularily crashes when an arrow hits a target.

5. Certain versions of tamagoClub may introduce regular crashes, and they'll persist, until you "reset data" (just upgrading or cleansave+upgrade won't fix it).

6. A companion healthbar mod i found on nexus (forgot the name). Will make the size of your savegames explode, to the point where saving will take more than a minute. OBSE will in the log complain about savegame bloat as well. (If you need an alternative: The companion hud health statusbar, associated with the MCS download, seems to work properly, and it does not rely on MCS. It'll work with any companion sys.)

7. loversPK extender: On sex frequently turns NPCs invisible except of their eyes and mouths (different from "doubleface"-bug, but can be fixed with any of the available "fix doubleface" commands which mods provide).

REASON: Lovers Extender at the time of this post, was not designed for loversPK 0.90+ (thanks dman)

8. LoversSetScale and LoverSetScale revised. I haven't found any version, that wouldn't mess with NPC appearance/clothing during sex (some versions cause the above mentioned invisible-body bug. With other versions, chars no longer undress during sex).

UPDATE: The current latest version V1.12.1 of setscale revised no longer has the mentioned bugs in my setup.

9. There was a horsedick-fix posted somewhere on the forums. Forgot which and where. If installed according to the instructions, giant spikes appear across the horizon whenever a horse is in the loaded cells.

UPDATE: Probably a horse skelleton problem, that wasn't mentioned as dependency. See fejeena's reply further down for a fix.

10. No autovamp on sleeping. This esp, is 3.5MB large, and it ONLY CONTAINS SCRIPT MODIFICATIONS!!! What does this tell you? Yes, it it's dirty... 2000 scripts worth or dirty. Quite possibly, it overwrites every vanilla oblivion script, so if i.e. it is after the unofficial oblivion patch, it will overwrite most of the patch, if later in loadorder. If you have this plugin - you could try to clean it.... i opted to just delete it alltogether, because such a mountain of dirt, doesn't speak in favour of the plugin-dev's competence.

------

Plugin's im currently investigating (no conclusion yet):

- None

(I previously investigated "Battlehorn Castle Upgraded". It might have some crashbugs while inside the castle, and it has areas with MAJOR FPS-bottlenecks (down to 1/10 the usual FPS)... but it doesn't seem to interfere with anything outside battlehorn. And after doing standard tes4edit cleaning (it has quite a bit of battlehorn related dirt in it), it no longer crashes inside battlehorn here). So in short, some isolated issues, but nothing to write home about.

1. CM Partners is very load-order dependent. You probably didn't load it in the right place.

2. LPK Extender was meant to be used with an earlier version of Lovers. I think it was rev93 or perhaps rev90. It currently does NOT function correctly with the latest version (rev96v2).

3. The "giant spikes" you mentioned in the horse mesh are likely caused by a problem with the skeleton.

Can't say much about the rest, as I don't use those plugins.

CM partners has to be the one plugin, i moved most around in loadorder. Over time, i think i tried 10 different combinations - right after patches, at the end, before LPK, after LPK, etc etc etc. Whatever the loadorder is supposed to be, it's hard to figure out.

EDIT: fejeena, thank you for the info. That dependency wasn't mentioned when i downloaded said mod.

The last official version for loversPK extender: was created under lovers with pk rev 89. I think it was the final version update by Acedouble. Later versions for lovers with pk from 90 to rev 96 has had many scripts fully updated who later broke allot of mods. So most older mods either had to fully recreated under the new versions, or tried to be updated. extender from scripting point of view is very difficult to fix due too 2 languages being incorporated in order to fix it, 1 is Japanese and the other Russian.

Also the way they switched the scripts  from rape setting to automatic setting is broken under the current lovers with pk extender. 1 of the other mods that is also broken now due to major script change is loversRapeStruggle who was based on the older versions of lovers with pk extender.

CM partners and Companion Share & Recruit are known not to be compatible with TamagClub.

While this list is certainly useful, it really isn't LPK specific so it probably belongs in either the general area or possibly in the oblivion adult section.  Let me know which you would prefer and I'll move the thread.

I found a couple mods that caused all kinds of issues:

Arena - Brutal Underground - this one is a neat concept but it caused quite a few CTD's for me.  I played through it a promptly removed all traces of it from my game, which returned things to a stable state.  I am not sure if it was dirty edits, conflicts or what exactly and the mod really wasn't good enough in my opinion to take the time to investigate.

Dibellas Watch - this is a really neat mod, but my goodness does it have massive conflicts with anything but a vanilla game.

Dman: Thanks for the detailed info. I added a comment to the first post, about the 0.90+ incompatibility.

gregathit: Good catch. Funny thing is, i actually wanted to post this in general, but then it appeared here... perhaps because in another tab, i had the lpk subforums open, when i clicked new thread, dunno. I agree that this belongs in general, not lpk.

The only reason why these 2: CM partners and Companion Share & Recruit

Are not compatible is because they actually break scripts from TamagoClub. and it happens when you try to use the command to look into there inventory. if an female npc currently has Tamago token this will break the mod in the process and the npc will no longer work right with tamago.

I think MCS is the only one for the follower mods who don't seem to break any scripts. There are others like Companion Master from japanese community who also works right. These are the only 2 they mention and recommend.
