Skyrim-like Characters in Oblivion = Oblivion Character Overhaul

Oblivion Character Overhaul by nuska

http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/43612

I just found this, and I want to weep with joy, for it is pure beauty. I saw no point posting it up in the mod section as it transcends adult and non-adult while not being my mod. I think its something everyone who still enjoys Oblivion should see.

I was really hoping someone would do something like this, and Nuska really went beyond those hopes.

...on the otherhand its sort of a kick in the nuts to those of us who keep roleplay journals, as we can't not use that, and if we want consistancy in screenshots it means starting all over. :( lol

In my opinion, Modular Beautiful People is better, but that is very nice too. And besides, for some Lovers mods MBP is a required file.

Do you notice the eyes don't seem to fit this head? There's a visible gap between the eyes and their sockets.

Demonic eyes, red on black. 'Martian Antennae' ear shape for Dunmer (Bosmer ears actually)! What is up with that forehead? Or the skin in general?

Let's escort this lady to the graveyard nearby!

Vanilla head mesh, Ozmo textures (slightly tweaked), Nequam 'Fairy Eyes', SKS Ren's hairstyle. And a YangYang conversion of a Retma dress.

Dunno where I got the ear replacer from, can't remember. A vanilla NPC replaced with a character individually created in the race menu. Just one of many.

All in all, having Ploms's Orcs, MBP++, XEO4, 'Better Redguards' and lots of customized stuff installed I wouldn't want to actually downgrade the game's characters with Nuska's mod. People without any character beautification resources installed however might find a use for it.

I'm likin' the way dem Argonians look, but I think I'll have them as a separate race.

Hehe, whatever you prefer. Its all down to taste, so no insult intended, but that thing horrifies me personally. But then i'm not really big on japan-ifying my game. I like it to be as lore correct as possible, and as realistically proportioned as possibe. So as I noted, it just comes down to taste.

I wouldn't so much call it a downgrade as a side-grade. I backed up my Oblivion folder and tried it. It really does shunt the game more towards Skyrim in terms of graphics and characters, especially if you use HD landscape textures too.

- japan-ifying

- as lore correct as possible

In that case... Shouldn't it be 'Akavir-ifying' instead?

They are resources from my most favourite mod ever, Stroti's 'Ardah - A Desert Dream'.

Some of the bottles were originally made by Jannix Quinn, some maybe by HelBorne. That filled ingredient shelf is a one-piece mesh of which I have several variations. This one here is textured by Stroti.

These head meshes/txts and the body txts from the Vanilla Deluxe overhaul will be sweet. Sadly I'll have to tweak a rbp patch again.

Would it be possible to have this work alongside MBP++ and Xeo? I have both of these mods installed and there are still quite a few npc's that have the "vanilla" look. I think they are from other mods, and I assume by using this mod that would change them as well since this changes the base races.

I always thought it was difficult to create a good looking character in Oblivion. I use MBP++ and I still couldn't get the right look I was going for. The race menu is kinda weird in a way that changing one slider affects others slightly or extremely. I suppose it's to keep proportions between each facial features, but it throws off some areas in a way that only you notice, like those brows and eyes you tweaked to get just right. Is it possible to create a better character using the CS?

I gave this character overhaul a test, and I must say since it requires face gen texturing to be enabled, it brings down the appearance of any custom race- as facegen texturing exists for the singular purpose of making characters unattractive, weahered, etc. The overhauled races were also not glossy so would require new normal maps + setting the gloss to 300 for all their custom meshes, tons of work.

The overhauled races also don't synch up to some of the more cartoonish or anime inspired custom races, especially the ones I use. So things look really wierd when these characters interact.

@SupaSonic

MBP is very outdated, lacking gloss and features low quality (non SKS Ren) hair, unless you are using it because certain add-ons require it, don't bother making an MBP character. I have not had MBP installed since like early 2011.

The likely reason you cannot get good-looking characters created in Oblivion is because you are not running Xeo, or are running xeo but not having it load last in the order, and of course face gen texturing must be disabled. Even if you are not making a character using a Xeo race, Xeo itself seems to 'fix' a little-known character creation glitch which is likely thhe result of imperial always defaulting on character select screen. Xeo adjusts certain properties regarding the imperial race which likely are carried over when scrolling through other races.

I personally use a modfied Evy race for my female characters, as Evy is aesthetically the best Oblivion race. Provided xeo is loaded I can scroll to my custom evy-based race and create a beautiful character. I suspected this glitch in the past but didn't prove it existed until I made a clean install (no xeo) with only my custom race and when I went to create a new character in the menu their facial structure looked very neolithic.

How are you going to do morphs for facial animation for the new races?

In particular, for your race.

I know that the developer *Dream Girl*

failed (facial morphs). As well as problems with high polygon models - they are formed *holes*,  when rendering in a game
