Why is there still no hair with hairphysics !

Sorry people I speak no word in English, my language is German !

heutzutage ist fast alles machbar , warum keine ordentliche haar physik .

eigendlich müßte es doch ganz einfach zu machen sein , mann bräuchte doch nur die energie der pferde mähne zu nutzen .

Sorry I speak no German so my statement will be in English.

Skyrim doesn't have any support for polycomplex mesh physics. Though it should....because it uses Havok after all.

But how many moving meshes do you see in Skyrim? Not that many really...a few animations fake flowing capes, and of course bouncing boobs.

Bethesda promised Verlet physics but they never fully implemented them...you can enable Verlet physics using a .ini entry to enable it...but I don't think you could apply verlet physics to something as polycomplex as hair.

To start with how many games out there are supporting hair physics to begin with?

I know Tress FX is really new and appart from 3D videos or pre-rendered animations I didnt saw any believable hair physics.

Because there is a difference between animated hairs and hair physics, I believe someone could make animated hairs but I dont really see the need in it .....

Second Life uses Havok 7 and has flexible primitives, they do not currently support flexible collida dae meshes as yet.

Skyrim could do it, Bethesda just didn't really bother with it cause lets face it...they released this game for the Xbox 360, the PC port was just gravy after that...and theres no way the Xbox 360 would handle hair physics.

it's no part of Skyrim, as the clipping would annoy people.
Having a more complex hair physic would limit it to the PC and TressFX would limit it to ATi atm.

Yes, nVidia can handle it too, but the GPU might catch fire. :D

Not to mention, that TressFX would burn any GPU, if all NPCs would have TressFX hair as well. And there are way more NPC on the screen at the same time, as in Tomb Raider. Lod'ing would only help a bit, as in Skyrim, most NPC are in close range, where lod doesn't take place.

As consoles are more profitable, the game was build with focus on them. PC came more or less last, explaining the need of an HD Texture DLC.

@winny257: Sprichst kein Wort englisch aber lesen geht? Also das ist mal was neues. O_o

if they did they had to fully rewrite the game. I am still annoyed by the fact how animations are even done in skyrim. Why does breton grown in-size and become just as tall as an imperial by just using opbjects like alchemy lab ??

Real hair physics will have to be totally overhauled why does my current hair even disappears if i wear a hat ??

If they can't bother to make actual feet then they surely wouldn't make an effort to do that. All boils down to time in the end.

And money. But let's face it - producers aren't going to pay for those aesthetics. And unless it's a hefty sum, they won't take from private sources.

hi CGi !

Thanks for the post :D

I can speak no English, do not write, and also do not read, I use to the read a translator.

the I use is not very good, I can have many texts despite translator does not properly understan .

The heck are you talking about? dragonfly did a dinamic hair mesh (just one) a long, long time ago. I used with no problem, but I dropped it, can't remember why.

Actually you can chock it up to pure lazyness , Hair physics has been available for nearly the last 4-6 years, and alsmost all graphics cards since the release of the Nvidia 280 series has had some sort of Hair physics adaptation in their Sponsorship free software and Gloatware, to top it off that is how They taunt us players into purchasing their next latest and greatest GPU... but is it their fault, nope their job is to make money, our job is to pay that money to keep them in their job...so where does the fault lye .... at the programmers and game designers desks, why would they want to devote that much time and proffit into a community that pays top dollar to run a $300-$600 dollar video card when they arent running it on anything bigger then a 24 inch monitor?  when its so much easier to feed the less tech evolved Gamers or in this case Spoon feed the general gaming community...yes i'm talking about the Console gamer... its too easy to say ...ohh " well computers cost too much" hmm lets see here each game retails for $50-$75 and most console gamers have like 10-15 titles

do the math thats $500 on the low end---- $750 on the high end, add to that the average cost of the console itself, $300 ....ok that is a hefty ammount of coin there..... and in most cases would build a computer that would rival and exceed any xbox out there.....

i know of customers i have had that purchased 3 of them XFX 6990 4gb cards just to get 250FPS on a pair of 19 inch monitors Playing CRYSIS wow big flippen deal

look we have the technology and the worst part is , is that its already available... the sad thing is its not implimented because it boils down to one common factor.........

Money

designers and programmers and gaming console providers have it easy with all the people just waiting to jump in line and purchase the next top game title for their underpowered over priced Atari game console
