free translator program?

basically i downloaded a few mods with text, that are in Japanese, and was going to re-wright them with English text, and was wondering if theres any translators better than Google translate, that i can just copy/paste lines of dialog into and get a very basic machine translation. once i know roughly what they say i can make up my own shit that fits the context, so the translation doesn't have to be perfect, but Google isn't always that reliable.

Not really.  There are other translators out there but they all pretty much suck.  There just doesn't seem to be any resources for Japanese slang.  Part of the problem is the Japanese have MANY slang words that just don't have an English equivalent.  Thus you end up making a lot of crap up right from the get go.  Believe me, I pulled my hair out trying to translate Bravil Underground.  Many times I had to start the game and fuck around to see if I could get a hint at what they might be doing so I'd have some sort of context.  Ultimately I ended up pulling a large chunk of the dialogue right out of my ass, as I could never figure out what the original mod author was really trying to say.  I must have done ok since the original mod author put up a link to my translation.  :P    Either that or he can't read English..........

There is egg translator but I don't recommend you do the auto translate deal as that will fuck up all the scripts. Remember too that after translating you'll need to fire the esp up in the CS and recompile the scripts if you touch any of them.

There are some other translation programs over at hongfire but I really don't recommend them as they are a pain to setup and don't do any better than google.

Quick Translator 1.0

and agree GOOgle-spy transhiter is totally BS

seems like a cool addon, but the only problem is thats a browser translator, it has no function to copy/paste text and get a translation, so its worthless for decoding an esp, which is what I'm doing. from what i see guess I'm stuck with Google/my intuition.

Here are the links to the hongfire items.

Translation Aggregator is fairly cool but takes awhile to set it up right.  It basically pulls from several different databases\programs to give you what each one "thinks" is right.  Again, I found it to not to be much better than google myself, but your mileage may vary.
