The elder scrolls saga

30 posts in this topic

this weekend were able select few (including myself) to "play" for the first time ESO in the beta version.

although I play online hate, I regret to say that it brings to 100% WoW to fall. the download was 21 GB in size, and my first impression was very promising for me, there are still a few small errors to be eliminated.

but the apparition date april 2014 this error will be eliminated. and as in my first posts of the dead skyrim's is ushered to this day.

The Elder Scrolls as an offline single player experience will only die if TESO becomes a commercial success. There is a good reason why there isn't a Warcraft IV. I do not understand what is it that the developers of TESO see in their game that will make it succeed where others who have gone subscription + cash shop have failed. This game can float on the brand name for some time, but eventually people will realize that it is going to be little better than a chinese ripoff.

The entire setup sounds very much like an MMO called Granado Espada which I played for a long time before playing Skyrim. It had an open beta which built up tremendous amounts of hype, with many people anticipating a F2P model, and suddenly pulled a fast one by implementing a subscription + cash shop in the end. Many of the players who played the open beta dropped out and the game became a ghost town for a year before it was forced back into a F2P + cash shop. I do not doubt that it will have great popularity at launch, but eventually the lack of mods and the true freedom to play as you like will kill it.

I must note that GE is still chugging along quite well though, supported by the wealthy patrons who dump a few thousand dollars into the game per month so they can have the best gear in the server.

I think there's a way of making things both for the lonely player and the online thing

Same world, accessible online with no main quest and with other players around

And the solo version featuring the world as you can play your hero and perhaps a co-op gamestyle too...

I'm sure they can think of something...

The thing I just dream bout is the day where computer technology, graphics and software will be enough that you could have all the world of TES available

From Skyrim to Elsewyr, from Morrowind to Sommerset Isles. With the Imperial City in Cyrodill, Hammerfell, Argonia (which has never been visited I think) and even the far continent of Akavir, perhaps even a few other planes of Oblivion as well, all moddable but alas, the whole world not feeling limited like it has in all previous games. You can't have Elsewyr in Skyrim or Morrowind in Oblivion unless you have mods... and even then it's only part of the thing. I dream of the day there wont be such limitations and all will be open to explore... Perhaps an ES VI or VII could make the deed on a far future?

I agree with you, it would be a dream but unfortunately I will not live to see this dream, because I've reached a certain age where one is lost certain reaction. and wait another 10 years makes me really not getting any younger and 66 years with a charged, action, game play does not fall then one so easily!
