the like system is rather complicated. someone tried to explain it to me once but it didn't make sense. Its like a quota. you might run out of likes and the system gives you a couple in an hour from now. say you gave 12 likes at 1pm. then 4 more likes at 5pm and ran out of likes. well at 1pm the next day you get 12 more likes in your quota to use. and at 5pm another 4.

 

that's how it was explained to me anyway.
