Compatibility Patch for Winter is Coming Cloaks

 

Compatibility patch to fix the static Elin tail problem when equipping the cloaks from Winter is Coming.

Fixes the WiC plugins.  Does not change the WiC compatibility plugins for Cloaks of Skyrim.

 

Requirement:  Winter is Coming.

Installation

1. Install Winter is Coming and choose an option.
2. Extract the Elin Race Compatibility Patch archive and choose the option that matches the Winter is Coming option you chose in the previous step.
3. Copy the edited plugin and paste it in your DATA folder.  Allow the patch to overwrite the original WiC plugin.

 

hmm, i did this yet still have some elin wearing cloaks that have straight rigid tails. i think the patch way've fixed a couple. not sure. but still some w/ rigid tails. i even console disabled and resurrected them. that fixed 1 fox tail, but it was rigid again after reload

That particular one can be found as part of a series of armors from Fox6000.

 

Fox 14 contains the outfit you're seeking, but in a different color and for CBBE Slim so make sure you one of the custom CBBE, Elin bodies.

hmm. i haven't updated WIC since March 2013 lol. didn't realize it updated. so probably not that. may be on my end. skeleton, or race compat. because some tails do it, some don't. even when it's the same tales and cloaks or fur capes. i can even use resurrect or disable/enable and they'll often appear w/ the cloaks on and tails normal.

 

oh, you happen to know the name of that lil animation that makes Elins scratch the back of their heads? love that and like to try replacing a vanilla anim with it, assuming it'll work on an adult Lunari lol

If you are using only the files I have posted in the original post then there will not be any dark or discolored heads.

If you are using any of the files that were uploaded in the thread, such as Xheren's version of the Elin NPCs or the All-in-One hair pack then, yes, there will be dark or discolored heads.

As Iuki pointed out, you need to use the Creation Kit to generate all new facetints.  The first thing you need to do is make sure you have the main Elin mod (ElinRace.esm), Race Compatibility (RaceCompatibility.esm) present since they are the masters.

Starting with Elin NPC, select ElinRace NPC.esp from the list of plugins in CK; activate that plugin.

Go to ACTORS > Actors and scroll down until you see the listing for the ElinRace NPCs (females).  Click on ElinRace > Female and in the right-side window is the listing of the Elin NPCs from this plugin.

Select all of them then go ahead and use CTRL+F4 to create the facetints.  Sometimes you will see and error about not finding a facepart (particularly the eyelashes), ignore that (select YES to ALL) and finish making the face tints.

Now look in your DATA > TEXTURES > ACTORS > CHARACTER > FACEGENDATA > FACETINT > SKYRIM.ESM and you should see a listing of face tints (.dds and .tga).

Look in DATA > MESHES > ACTORS > CHARACTER > FACEGENDATA > FACEGEOM > SKYRIM.ESM and you will should see the associated face data (.nif).

 

Now do the same by locating and clicking on the FOLDER icon on the CK toolbar to bring up the list of masters and plugins for the mods you have installed.

Uncheck ElinNPC.esp and activate (double-click to check) ElinRace NewNPC.esp and repeat the steps to create the facetints for these NPCs.

When done, inspect DATA > MESHES > ACTORS > CHARACTER > FACEGENDATA > FACEGEOM > ElinRace NewNPC.esp (this is the name of the new folder)

 

and

 

DATA > MESHES > ACTORS > CHARACTER > FACEDATA > FACETINT > ElinRace NewNPC.esp.

These 2 new folders will contain the new facetint and facedata for the ElinRace New NPC mod.

 

Remember to remove (or move to a backup location) both ElinRace NPC.bsa and ElinRace NewNPC.bsa since these contain the original facetints.

Did you install the CBBE or UNP Elin body?  If so, did you install HDT?  You can verify by looking in  Data > SKSE > Plugins folder for these 2 files:

• hdtPhysicsExtensions.dll
• hdtPhysicsExtensionsDefaultBBP.xml

See if deleting these will help.

 

Are you using animation replacers?  These do not have to use FNIS since they replace the vanilla animations.

 

(Just addressing some common possible causes first before moving on to such things as mod conflicts).

 

Btw, can you post your load order or mod list.

 

 

Did you install the Elin Idle animation?  If so, did you run the FNIS generator?  If yes to both questions, try uninstalling the Elin idle and run FNIS generator again.  The problem could be related to idle animation.

 

I got rid of the hdt extensions and uninstalled the Elin Idles. I ran the FNIS generator a few times, but nothing has changed. Here's my load order:

I don't remember which anim file implements the head scratching.  Trying to add the animation to the Lunari race?  Try this, starting with custom (Elin) animation #1,

• copy/paste to MESHES > ACTORS > CHARACTER > ANIMATIONS > FEMALE (or whichever custom folder the Lunari races uses for animations).
• rename the anim file to "mt_idle.HKX".  This will replace the default idle animation for Lunari and other races (if they share the same file).
• FNIS is not needed for vanilla animations.

Repeat for the other Elin idle animations.

Try the Elin 2 XPMS Extended pack. 

 

You will have to manually add the Elin 2 (female) skeletons to 2chElin Fix because Elin 2 uses a different folder structure.

Also, you will need to rename the skeleton files from "skeletonbeast_female" to "skeletonfemale".

Try starting a new game with only the Elin mods.  You don't have to go far, just enough to conclude whether the problem you are experiencing is with the Elin files or another mod.

 

If the anim problem is related to another mod, you'll have to disable all anim mods and mods that adds animations and scripts, especially heavy amounts of scripts.  Now systematically enable each of the mods and check your game.  Move to the next mod and repeat until you happen to find the source of the problem.

The only drawback is if a mod is script-heavy which means the gamesave will have those scripts or remnants of them even after deactivating or removing that mod.

The Tera Elin Race 2 have different proportions compared with the Elin 1. Well i guess i'll have to use it anyway if i want Elin 1 with swords at back & daggers at hip.

Well I uninstalled all the other mods besides the Elin mods and it didn't help (plus the game kept stopping during the opening scene where Alduin is supposed to show up. The executioner would just stand there with the ax and not do anything)

 

I'm uninstalling and reinstalling the Eli mods hopefully that will work. Will report back.

A while ago, I started on the XPMS Extended edits for Elin 1, but that was pushed aside so that I could finish Elin 2.  I still need to remake the bodies and have not tested the XPMSE skeletons on the Tera body which, I'm can only guess, will look odd.

When you say "all of the female NPCs are identical Elin", do you mean all female NPCs?

If this is the case, I don't know why all females are being replaced.

 

If what you are saying is that all Elin female NPCs look identical then that means you don't have the correct ElinRaceTaint.esm installed.  The silver, side ponytail is the default hair.  Make sure you have the ElinRaceTaint.esm from the Elin NPC mod since that is what gives each of them different hairs.  The version from the main package will only give them the default ponytail hair.  Also, ElinRaceTaint.esm is loaded after ElinRace.esm.

You don't have the BBP or TBBP skeletons installed.  They are included in "2013Nov01_Option_NewElinBodies_BBP-TBBP_v2.7z" and are installed when choosing the CBBE BBP, CBBE TBBP, UNP BBP, or UNP TBBP.

 

If you have to install the files manually then do the following:

• Do not uninstall what you have.

• Extract "2013Nov01_Option_NewElinBodies_BBP-TBBP_v2.7z" and choose one of the CBBE (BBP or TBBP) folders or UNP (BBP or TBBP) folders; the body option you already have installed.  You are just ensuring that all the necessary files will be installed.

Open the folder you chose and copy the MESHES and TEXTURES folders and paste them in your DATA folder and allow overwriting the pre-existing files.

If using Mod Organizer, then you paste those folders in the mod folder for "2013Nov01_Option_NewElinBodies_BBP-TBBP_v2.7z" that was created by MO.

Finally, run FNIS Generator for Users.
