Modding Final Fantasy 7 on Steam

So, I decided to play Final Fantasy 7. Thing is, I'd like to give it that nice HD makeover, and the instructions I'm running across make little sense to me.

 

So, yeah ,seeking help with that.

hi do you mean the HD remake on square enix website? I have the hd remake off ff7 and is isn't great the only thing they made better was the characters itself not sure

about the cut scenes didn't get that far got too bored with it. as far as I know I didn't think there were any mods?

There are mods for the PC edition of Final Fantasy 7, and nice try but Square Enix never did an HD remake of the game, that was just a tech demo.

 

Seriously Square, not cool! You don't tease a devoted fanbase like that.

I swear sq did a hd remake it was a fial 1 but I swear they did I think they were charging £15 for it? heres a video of it sorta.

skip to 6.58 and youll see a fight and it has sorta has more hd than the original.

 

SQ has confirmed ff8 hd remake there pics on a Japanese site looks a lot better.

 

they never made the back grounds hd witch is kidna pointless kus it realy sticks out.

Well, achievements isn't that much of a deal unless you love collecting them. In any case, just take a look at this tutorial here: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=13212.0

 

It's quite simple and easy to follow but note that you have to downgrade the thing if possible.

FF VII is the dogs nads, luv the game and I also purchased it off STEAM, yes the textures on PC are a lot better then PS1... (Obviously) Final Fantasy 7 remake...Never gonna happen... they have clearly stated they will only do a remake when they have made a Final Fantasy game that is far more superior and gets more followers and earns more then the original Final Fantasy 7. We know with the crap they now push out the door, the remake is just a dream. I personally have put in over 500 hours on PlayStation, beaten it like 10 times all bosses, so yer i'm a massive follower.. The Final Fantasy 7 demo they showed for PlayStation 3 was and only will be a tech demo, many thought, me included that it was a remake, but sadly not.

They dont need to remake FF7 since fans have pretty much already done that. Just gotta google search, there are a ton of mods that can turn ff7 into almost modern looking game. Some mods are harder to find then others tho. Cant really give ya links since there are so many of them.

Another part that was forgot in my original post of a possible remake.

 

In a Q&A session of Square Enix's annual shareholder's briefing, CEO Yoichi Wada said that a remake of Final Fantasy VII will happen once the company makes a new Final Fantasy title that succeeds the seventh game in terms of quality and sales, something the company has to date failed to do.

 

If Square Enix were to release a remake right now, Wada said that the series would be done for. He also said that staff members assigned to the supposed project would have to be fully committed to it if it were in the pipeline.

Apparently the soundtrack for the PC version is inferior to the playstation version...which is stupid. Why would Square Enix do that? They aren't getting my money because of that, I don't care if you can mod it to have the playstation ost. I'm not buying a 10+ year old game and having to waste a bunch of time fixing all the shit they fucked up.

Kinda funny, considering that everything after 7 except 9 has been shit.

Correction 9 was where final fantasy should have ended... Better yet should never have been made 8 was all right but I don't know why I continued to get Any of the other Final Fantasy games after that.

 

Also something to note 9 was so bad of all the games I have ever gotten it is the only one I have EVER traded. I still have all of my games going all the way back to the original Nintendo games I got when I was 3.

 

Edit: Before I forget and somewhat on topic I don't know where it is but when I first saw Final Fantasy 7 on Steam I also did some checking around and saw a mod that supposedly changed the FMVs to be on par with advent children and supposedly made the whole game "look very High Def" didn't bother looking into it to much because the file was freaking huge at around 18gb or so and well at that large I simply didn't believe it was anything more then a rumor, horrible virus, or just not worth the time as it would take days to download with my internet connection.

I personally feel that the Final Fantasy franchise should cease, Square Enix is now milking it for all just like Resident Evil, (Massive fan of both the games series). But like Bugthesda and the original creator of the Resident Evil series are making The Evil Within, now that is what Resident Evil should be like...As for FFVII I got a few mods but all in all I would rather just stay with the unmodded base game. Tried FF13 SHIT.

I own the re-release of the PC version from the SE store and there's nothing HD about it. If you're seeing anything supposedly HD from the PC version, either it's fake or somebody has some really amazing graphics mods. All they did was take the original PC release from 1998, possibly copy a fan made rendering engine so it could work on modern system and fix some graphical problems, fix a few bugs that were in said original PC release, improve the music a bit and upscale the FMVs a bit.

 

Oh, and they added a secret cow level reference. Because the game needed a Diablo reference for some reason.
