farranya

I need new desktop but need help.

Sorry for translator and long text but I try to explain much as I can.

I have been to other websites but find no help because dishonest and rude answers. I read lovers lab for time and people here behave normal.

8 months before; the power box to my ibuypower computer have broken and I understand that it is a  weak so I want to build mine and put inside new parts so I will have no worries when the next xbox and playstation comes.

What I have now is company build ibuypower

500 gigabyte hardrive

8 gigabyte DDR2....

radeon HD 5770 1GB

athlon 4 core at 2.6

640 watt power box

I do not know mother board

Black  Mesh steel case

_

_

I do not need to buy

Headphones

controler and mouse

DVD player
Harddrive .unless budget allows me

Monitor

Maybe no case but I do not like my mesh because it lets in dust.

I have budget of 650 and maybe 750 us dollars.

I have been show these

  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227510

^^They say to  add graphic card^^

I like it when my computer games have better graphics then my xbox 360 and I like ENB and mods. I hope to keep  over advantage when new consoles come so I do not have to upgrade many. But I have questions I am not computer smart.

Are the links good Parts. which is good?

Some have told me that I can build the computer for 400 us dollars to be very much stronger then playstation 4 and new xbox. This is true? I got many answers saying no and yes and all were giving links and arguing.

I have bought tomb raider but could not play because it lags.

For measure what is needed to play near ultra at 50 or not go under 30 frames a second?

My fraps showed 25 frames average and 12 when I aimed. What is need to play battlefield games with 60 frames with very high ?

What is good for heavy mod installers.

Sorry for bad typing I try to make sense and I maybe respond slow.

Sounds bit strange but i suggest go over here ask Quizzical if one knows how to build gaming rigs or rigs for that matter for budget like that he is.

Realy have a great knowledge of building PCs and software and everything around it.

And more will give advice all gamers.

Thats prob something I would buy now. And actually im going to buy that mobo and cpu probably this month. Ofcourse you can switch Radeon to Nvidia if thats your thing. 660ti or something.

Good lord whatever you do don't get the Newegg one. Weak graphic card.

The other two are fine. I have configured two others that you can see. They are a little tighter on your budget however give a slightly better computer. You can upgrade other components later as needed, like an SSD or Blu-Ray.

Here are two I configured. One is FM2 and the other is a standard AM+ mobo. The FM2 gives you a 3 gig video memory on the graphic card. Helps with the texture rendering access. The other gives a Nvidia graphic card. If memory serves me correctly you can use the integrated video memory on the FM2 to give you a boost.

Both is very tight on your budget and require you to scavenge parts from your old case.

The FM2 shows fair benchmarks

Unfortunately the issue is you will most likely need an OS to install as the old one from the iPower likely won't work for the new motherboard.

CPU cooler comes with the processor if memory serves me correctly.

farranya I would go with your second line item option, http://pcpartpicker.com/p/15gTf

that is a decent system and priced fairly. I may be able to check those prices against my wholesale vendors and see if they match or beat them. You are still going to need and OS, Windows 7 will be your best bet if it is still obtainable for you. My cost on Windows 7 is around $95.00, I only start to get good breaks when a customer needs volume licensing for software, it's a freaking Microsoft thing.

 More questions.

I am confused about processors. Are 4 cores still good for years to come? New consoles have 8 cores. I am not sure if this is important

Also I have fraps and skyrim mod back up folders to  desktop. If I buy new windows or hardrive can I get to files? I never used 2 hardrives before.

If you use the system during gaming soley for gaming 4 cores is enough for now.

Dont compare consoles with pc please thats insult even new generation ;)

PC will always be on top specially with modded games a console will never have 16gb or more or 6gig vram.

PLus all top videocards released this year are more highend then ps4 or xone.

most games afaik still utilize individual cores far better than a boatload of them. ofc with AMD's push into the gaming market by essentially launching a coup for all the next gen consoles, that may change, doubt it though. from what I know of coding and talking to people who code, it's far harder to utilize multithreaded cpus. quad-core processors are going to be great for a while, as long as you get a upper-mid range one (I have an 3570k, OC beast, haven't oc'd in a while though b/c cooling..well...sucks, need to reapply thermal paste I think).

I use 2 hdds right now (one ssd/hdd hybrid, another ancient one), use the ancient one as backup/storage. as long as you partition/set it up after installing windows, it'll be fine. depending on what windows you're upgrading from/to, you should be able to keep all your files. research this beforehand if you will be able to. if not, use clonezilla and don't buy new windows.

Gaming yes. High end computer video editing and other processor intensive apps no. Gaming clock speed is king.

Yes you should be able to access them. There are different things you will need to do to use them but you can still use them. Any programs will have to be reloaded.

Most applications, games and operating systems are still only using 2 core CPU's so 4 Cores is fine, you will have to set the different applications and games to use one or two cores most of the time since they are not written to utilize anymore and will crash when you try to run them.

Windows 7 will access any drive files that were made or saved in windows 7, Vista or XP. I am unsure about Windows 8 , my advise, stay away from Windows 8, it's a "phone app" operating system and quite a pain to work with and make run games properly. You should not need any third party programs to merely read your files on the old drive.

With advise  I have came to this.

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Fazhar/saved/2Lfz    I find windows 7 later.

look fine?

Yeah quite ok, but I recommend to replace the case.

This seems to be better: http://pcpartpicker....se-rc922mkkn1gp

You need a good airflow for that neat gpu - well, everything comes at a price.   ;)

Understand but I am not sure if I can afford windows if I buy this so I will wait before it.

I will try that case instead. Thank you ^_^

HAF 922 is a good case. Nice air flow. HAF stands for HIGH AIR FLOW. A little old on the case front.

Try to get Windows 7 soon. It will just get harder and harder to get. Windows is already on 8.1 or two newer OS's from Windows 7.

You look like you have everything else under control.

Luckily for me, I have my Win7 OEM standing by for when I build my next game rig. Can't wait. I just don't know if I would ever go with SSD. I hear they are good and I hear they are bad. My current gaming rig doesn't have SSD.

Properly set up using Windows 7 or newer SSD's are very good. They are more costly, and smaller. It is more difficult for major users like us to keep everything on the SSD and many that I know use links or transfer their Documents to a mechanical drive. I even advise it for those that don't need performance as well as that there isn't the fragmentation issue that is experienced with mechanical drives. No latency. Well none that a normal individual can even measure.

For many individuals I recommend the SSD for their OS and base programs. The prices have dropped to a point where a reasonable sized drive can obtained for a reasonable price considering the performance boost. Most seem comfortable with a 128 or so gig drive. I am using a 256 gig drive and have Origin and Steam on that drive with most of the games I am currently using. (not all of them. That can fill almost a TB drive). Any brand that you want, speed etc. It don't matter. Any SSD has a performance boost over mechanical.

Anyone that has used an SSD can't go back to a mechanical for their OS.

If you go SSD you will never wanne go back to old HDD thats for sure.

Just explore little on reviews of all kinds of sites you will get a good picture of which one is good to get.

I myslef am fan of OCZ but plenty of other brands also good.

I went from around 45secs start up to desktop to 10secs after installed a SSD not to mention how fast it loads on other things reads and when i move a file from one ssd to my other its superfast.

One of my best upgrades in past few years is SSD AND USB-3

If i where you go for better PSU its very importend part of your PC better pay little more but much more efficient then cheap one you later regret.

And i dont mean more watt 600 for your system is enough i mean effcient use % and durabillity.

Go corsair bronze at least its much better and safer for your system.

Yes I think is is why my ibuypower have broken. First  time It have shut off and had strange smell and the power plug in back had melt. 2 month later I was playing max payne 3 and it shut off again but would not turn on.

I have read customer review of each parts on list and see that many complained that it broke very fast or caught smoke.

I have changed my list.

I have bought the graphic card and will put orders on others when I save more.

Nice.

I would get the WD Black. A slight performance boost but a far more reliable drive. Even later if you move to SSD you can keep that around for years. I have one that is more than 5 or 6 years old and still works just fine. Never had any of them go bad on me. All other drives have failed at least once.

I believe the R9 280X would be an excellent choice for Skyrim with the added ram.

Still possibly need the Windows 7 disk

Update.

My new computer is finished now and it works fine.

I had to get windows 8.1 because it was discounted. It really is annoying operating system because the start button brings up cellphone screen and it is confusing and my programs like fraps do not work for it.

I did test  and played some games and it is much much faster then my old computer. Tomb raider used to be 20 frames per second with hair simulation and medium graphics. Now it is 55 on ultimate. My Skyrim runs 50 on ultra with high textures pack and 45 with the tropical mod.

Apb reloaded was 30 and stuttered alot. Now it does not go under 58 and only the servers lag.

I can play all my games on high graphics and there is no more lag My only problem is my batman arkham city will not start.

Thanks for helping. Lots of appreciation  :shy:
