Sneak mode results in game crashing... what the...

So I loaded up a save game today, putting on my Cowl and going into sneak mode as I normally do. Except the game decided to crash. Then it did it several more times. I thought it was the Cowl I got through Slave Trade, so I decided to do things the hard way and go without my 80% chameleon bonus and went into sneak mode. After this the game crashed again. And again.

So now I have a save game where sneak is no longer an option. Fantastic. The thing is, I cannot understand why this happened; no mods have changed between when I last saved and loaded this.

EDIT TIME: Well, atleast sneak isn't broken in any new games I start. If that were the case I might have had to do a clean reinstall of the game... and modding this thing all over again would be a nightmare. But still, it really sucks that I lost my last save.

Bacon, try disabling slave trade and don't forget victims also if you are running it and load the broken save. As soon as it is finished loading make a new manual save and exit the game. Then fire up the game again (still leaving slave trader and victims disabled) and load your clean save and see if you can sneak.

If that doesn't work you can figure out what mod the cowl came from by throwing it on the ground and toggling the console and clicking on it. Make a note of the item's id and full name. Then exit the game and fire up tes4edit to see if you can find the item in slave trade.

Basically the whole thing boils down to how bad you want to save your old game. You will need to disable mods and make clean saves as you go to find out what mod is borking things up for you.

Honestly, the save isn't worth the effort; it sucks that I was almost done with my first run of the Mage's Guild, but that save was bugged up anyway; the sneak thing cropped up once before only to go away and worse, the game decided that it didn't like Seed-Neeus to the point where trying to buy from her caused it to crash.
