I actually would like to see a Burmecian race. And Renamon.

I don't know if Burmecians will happen though, the creator of that mod for Oblivion got mad and deleted all his stuff and hid it from everyone.

Better to have additional races than a replacer.

Ugh, I remember that guy. Had a renamon, krystal, and moogle mod too. though in all fairness most of his stuff was pretty sub-par, and that's being nice.

His moogle conversion was extremely poorly done (haphazardly ported from morrowind with no optimization or rigging whatsover, it even had the same helmet problems. Same with the Sithdagger version in fact I think it was pretty much just a knock off of that one.), very easily one of the worst race mods on... well, anywhere in the community. His Renamon and Krystal mods weren't all that much better, in fact they were basically just stolen ehhem, ported Garrysmod.org models with again no optimization, let alone any rigging or animating. (They basically felt more like you were wearing a renamon fursuit than playing as an actual, living, breathing renamon, and probably would have been better served as such.)

His namesake mod was pretty much the only thing that looked half-decent, though even that didn't look all that great from the screenshots (at least compared to most of the other stuff that was floating around) though I never played it so I wouldn't know if it still suffered from the same static static, fursuit head syndrome as the others.

In short, he put more time and effort into dressing up the title and description pages of the mods in question and into promoting them than he did into the mods themselves. Considering that, it's not really suprising that people didn't like those mods and they didn't get a whole lot of attention.

Add to the fact that most nexus users really hate these kind of mods, so it's not off to a good start. Of course, doing a lazy job only compounds the problem. So him yanking his mods in a dramatic internet raegquit is really no surprise at all, though all in all he really has only himself to blame.

The lesson to be learned here? Just making a franchise mod is not enough. It has to be done well. It is FAR better to take a long time with your project, to make models from scratch (or heavily modified from vanilla meshes, or however race modding works) and take pride in your work than it is to port someone else's models from morrowind or Gmod, take shortcuts, and do a half-ass job.

Not many people may like renamon or krystal or even moogle mods, but if done well enough people WILL overlook that (for the most part) "Ya know, I don't normally like renamon, but this is pretty good!". If done poorly, sloppily, and lazily however, it only serves to reenforce an already negative opinion people have about these mods. "Damn furries posting thier shit here blah blah."

I'm not saying of course it has to be perfect. Just... presentable, rigged and animated properly, bug-free, and actually looks and feels like something that fits in with the surrounding graphical environment.

Me? I'd play and like a renamon mod. Or a krystal mod even, or (and especially) a moogle/mimiga/etc mod, or just a "bunny race" mod,If it was done decently However, I do not believe that liking a certain franchise is an excuse to accept lazy and sloppy work.

If you want an example of animal/furry races done right, look no further than Modular Beautiful People. Or races ballancing project if you like more lorically-based critters and races (Though again, that's something I'd easily overlook if they were done well enough.)

Thx for the insight. im pretty new to this area. I started adding mods to morrowind and wen skyrim came out i was psycked. i love to see wat ppl can do. id considered learning eventually. not sure where to start though. but id still love to see an anime fox race or even a disguise kit like that cat on. i have it and like it. just change the color and tail and ur good. but id really like to see something similar to this

and maybe a female werewolf

Actually his Burmecian mod had a head with a moving mouth, I thought it was pretty good to be honest. A lot better than that fursuit stuff you mentioned.

People just hated it because it was furry.

Huh, the one thing he got somewhat right I guess. Like I said, I never really played the burmecain mod, just the others. After seeing the very disappointing Moogle, Krystal, and Renamon mods I pretty much didn't bother with it.

People just hated it because it was furry.

So was Luchaire's Tabaxi mod' date=' and it had its fair share of anti-furry flamers. But that didn't stop that from becoming very well received, even going so far as to be #11 on nexus's "top 100 race mods of all time list." [spoiler'] One of the mods that wound up using that race for the lorical Ohmes Raht Race, called "Integration the Stranded light", even had a side quest based around pwning the in-game representation of someone who sent a letter containing one of the IRL flames on that mod.

Same with MBP, for that matter. And quite a few others as well.

The fact that they were furry mods wasn't the problem. That was just the excuse (most people) used to flame a bad mod. Like I said, doing a furry mod badly only compounds an existing hatred for these kinds of franchizes (Ie "Eww furrys and their stupid crap mods. Blah blah blah").

Also as I've said however, the majority of people WILL overlook these kinds of things if said mod is done right.

"I'm not a furry, but this mod is really well done!" <= which is mostly the case for tabaxi.

point still stands: Do something well and people (for the most part) WILL overlook these kinds of things.

Tabaxi isn't THAT furry though. Something about muzzles just pisses some people off.

There are people out there that want to change vanilla Argonians and Khajiits into humans.

But I digress: If he made a Burmecian race for Skyrim at the same quality, if not better, than the Oblivion version he made, I'd be pretty happy

I certainly hope so scarredtitan, I've only played the game a few months and I'm already getting pretty damn bored with the default races and the fugly beast races.

And yes I have CBBE and Beast Race Beautiful, but it really doesn't help much. We need some new races and fast :P

I long to play neko or anthro wolf again.

Anime "nekomimi" style replacers for the khajiit or argonians piss me off to no end.

I question why these people want to even play in a fantasy world if all they want to see are more humans. There's already eight different versions of humans and pointy-eared humans, let aliens and monsters roam around freely too.

I personally don't mind them, in fact i'm quite a fan of Kawi Khajiits and Tabaxi (aka Ohmes Raht in Race Ballancing Project/Integration the Stranded Light), though I'd rather them be their own seperate races than replace the stock khajiits.

Though I will agree that there are too many elf/human mods. Seriously, What's the point of Making more human race mods when we have FOUR default human races as it is? Elves aren't much different: You seen one cute elf mod you've seen them all essentially.

But furry/neko (or rather something in between that like tabaxi) stuff? That's where the real creativity lies.

I love those race mods too, and they in fact are lore friendly :D It's just that i haven't seen a good 3d rendition of a antrophomorphic feline's face (though Skyrim's is MUCH better than Oblivion's), so i rather have them with human face.

I liked the cat races from Oblivion. It just couldn't hold my attention long. I kept dancing between 4 or 5 toons. Either overpowered, too easy, not real enough, or just boring to look at.

Ive never seen a fox mod and i never lookied for a wolf one, but i think it could help. or at least a smoother way to shift races mid game w out resetting stats. I wouldnt mind and then i could switch wen the mood hit.

anyway, if anyone comes out w a kitsune or antro fox i will love u forever XD been looking for more anime like races w cbbe compatability. all those elf clothing replacers come out wierd.

The one that replaces the argonians with green people is not lore friendly. Yes, the design for them has changed since Arena, but the lore has basically always described them as reptillian.

Besides, they're walking, talking dinosaurs. Who the FUCK doesn't love Dinosaurs? Communists and traitors, I say!

I gotta agree with you guys. I just can't seem to get into the game playing as the default races. Unfortunately, with the fact that it's taken a millenium and a half for Bethesda to get the Creation Kit out so far, it's currently not an easy task to make a decent race. Originally I had the plan to start making anthro races from the start, but I can't seem to fix my copy of Blender either.

If it helps anyone, I'm plan to start making anthro races including a wolf, fox, and cat once Bethesda gets the ball rolling.

Proof of concept, Fallout anthro races:

2a95zxe.jpg

Bear in mind that the heads were made without increasing the polygons of the default human head, so they don't look as good as they could. Hopefully the Skyrim head models are significantly more flexible to work with.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one looking for this kind of thing.

HOLY SHIT!!!

You're the one who made that rocketlombax mod for FO3!! I LOVED that mod!

Does this mean you're back in action? does that mean you'll finally finish that?! Because that would be awesome!

Glad you liked it! :P

Truth is, I never really meant to drop out of the game in the first place. Life just gets in the way sometimes. I'm still trying to finish some meshes, but for some reason my Blender modelling program stopped working right after I tried to update it for Skyrim modding...

I could try releasing it "as is" but I don't know how ready it is for Fallout 3. It's pretty much done for New Vegas though. I didn't know anyone who was interested in it was still looking for it...

I'm sure it's possible to do it like that, but it's not exactly the type of race I'm looking for. I prefer it when the race has more of a mix of human and animal features. The khajiit race is too far on the animal side for my taste- as silly as that sounds.

no i mean with human tint mask

like this mod does.

just the added nose color did wonders for my player.

it got me started making my own tint masks
