Riceball

showracemenu and more...

What hidden problems does showracemenu give?

I read somewhere that changing to werewolf then back to human breaks the face, but I have not tested this yet since I have never been one.

Is there a mod to slowdown the tfc? It moves like a race car on steroids.

Do you feel that Skyrim is just a snorefest without mods?

Thanks!

Showracemenu has issues when changing races, but not when changing your current race. (afaik) When changing races, health/mana/stamina get evenly distributed, and certain skills are reset. A telling sign that this is happening is when your character's arms cross, as if bound.

I found that changing race whilst a vampire resulted in the inability to feed... but I am not sure about issues with werewolves. On average, I'd say you're fine if you just change your hair and eye colour every now and then. NOT your race. There's a more detailed info on this elsewhere.

I don't use tfc. 'tcl' works well enough to fix intermittent problems for me. I think it works off of what speed your character can travel at...

I've had a blast with Skyrim, and that's with only a few texture/hair mods and SkyUI for my items.

Showracemenu will screw up your stats and skills ONLY if you change races. Even moving up or down in the race menu without actually pressing "ok" to the changes will screw it up.

Just changing hair styles, facial features, etc is perfectly fine... although I've had the problem where my racial skill disappears (ie. Breton race, resist magic will go missing). This can easily be fixed with the console though, so no worries if it happens.

Thanks for the help!

Is there any way to fix the HP, MP and stamina if this happens? What if my character is just level 1, will I still have problems with skills and stats when changing race?

I am not sure if there is a way to fix the stats & skills problem, or if it will affect you even at level 1. If you really want to change your race though, there is a console command for it. I've heard it has it's own set of problems though, so keep multiple saves and roll back if you experience anything weird.

The safe bet would be not change races until the CK comes out, or until a mod comes out that fixes the problem.

From what I've found, the hp/mp/stamina stats are only balanced - that means if you have stats in the order of 100/100/130, the race change will make it 110/110/110. Personally, I change race at will, within the first level or two. The more stats you have, the more problems you'll encounter.

Just make sure to save it before you go reinventing yourself.

You can slow down tfc with typing:

sucsm 1

when you are in tfc-mode.

if you wanna change your character race use setrace before using showracemenu, that way there is no stat loss or loss of race ability

ie. im nord but wanna change race into breton and edit it so i would put in

setrace bretonrace and then showracenmenu

i think i ran into a problem with this where ur head turns invisible, all you gotta do is chage your race using setrace, then change it back

I'm a werewolf and use showracemenu pretty much daily since the eye textures i use mess up whenever i go invisible or use shadow warrior

i never change the race but just changing the face seems to have no problems, the face shape has never reset, but a few times the skin tone, tint masks and warpaint/scars etc... have changed.
