Anyone know any free internet security program ??

Right now i am using kaspersky but this cost an arm and a leg. And looking for great alternative preferably free.

There is zone alarm I use it and it's free it blocks things from coming in and things from getting out and if you do happen to get something you can lock down the whole internet to prevent it from going back out or operating which will help in it's removal.

Kapersky is a good security program. Versions of it has various security features that are nicely talored to work with each other ... Paid security programs are generally a higher quality like Kapersky, ESET, Norton etc. As they say you get what you pay for... If you have time and aren't running out of your subscription look around. There are many reviews which can rate those "paid" programs. Many times I find Kapersky, and others for free or near free in internet blogs and such. These are legitimate offers not pirated.

 

That being said. Some prefer the built in security of Windows bit defender and state that is a good free one. AVG is one I hear often that is free. As myuhinny stated zone alarme is another good one. I had forgotten about that one. It is different in its approach and another useful program to complete your list of tools that you will use to substitute for a paid program. If I am not mistaken it can be ran along side of other programs ( paid antiviruses and such) safely.

With zone alarm you can go into it's program list and set anything to what you want so if it is preventing something from working you can go into the list find the program and set it to allow. I used Norton 1 or 2 times I was not impressed with it. When I use one I use Avast it seems to update the most and will throw up warnings with audio sound if you go to a site with questionable things or it was placed on the warning list and it will let you know if something you downloaded it something bad as well. I use malware bytes anti malware remover for spyware/malware.

Is a decent one, and free, and if you just want to get rid of the amusing commercial windows that show up from time to time, you just need to change the windows privilege of the process to deny everything and you are done.

Just use microsoft security essentials and run malwarebytes antimalware from time to time.

Both are free, and I've never had a single issue with malware or viruses after install.

If you are using windows 8, It already has security essentials installed (called windows defender in 8) and you can uninstall any antivirus and enable defender and you're set.
