I've got a problem.

It happens only very very rarely (only twice so far that I've noticed, since I began using sexlab mods) and does not break the game at all (afaik).

What happens is, everything that physics can apply to starts moving in a single direction.

So, for example, if you drop a soul gem, a bottle of skooma, etc. it starts moving on its own, very slowly. If it hits something that can't move on its own (i.e. walls, tables, etc) it stops... because it hit the object.

 

I can't remember where, when, or what might have caused it the first time it happened to me... it is, as I said, not a game breaking problem, just odd, so I didn't really make note of it. I just thought it was Skyrim being Skyrim.

But today it happened again. I had just installed Skooma Whore and was earning skooma at mixwater mill, when suddenly everything in the room that could move (including both NPCs) started drifting slowly toward the wall. When things reached the wall, they stopped. As twig moved across the floor, she moved up onto the bed, back down onto the floor, up onto the other bed, etc. Same for lilly. Some of the alcohol ended up under the bed. A few of the chicken breasts ended up flush against one of the chairs.

 

The PC does not move, nor does anyone sitting on a chair... for example, Twig didn't start moving until she got up from a bench.

 

The game suffered a CTD after a few minutes, but I don't necessarily think it was this that caused the CTD - I'd been playing for several hours, and that does tend to build up errors in the background... I can't remember if it crashed the first time or not.

 

My question is... why is this happening? Which mod is causing this? Or is no sexlab mod causing this at all? Is this just Skyrim being Skyrim, or is it something deeper, something more... insidious?

Because I do, and I have almost the exact same bug. Whenever my character starts to eat or drink something and there are clutter items nearby, they start to move to one side slowly until eventually they either hit the wall or fall into the world.

No, I don't use that mod... but that's a clue, right there.

There must be something going on when certain animations happen.

Maybe it's a problem with a specific animation.

Maybe it's a problem when two animations are trying to happen at the same time (is that possible?).

Maybe it's something up with FNIS. Doesn't look like it, because that mod apparently doesn't even require FNIS.

Of course, if it turns out this is something like sexlab.esm's problem, it isn't going to do us much good.

For the record, this happened on rare occasions with my SexAddicts mod and I have even seen it using the ancient ASX mod.

 

It is nothing new, load orders and/or which mods you use are not going to be the problem.  I suspect it is a bug in the havok engine since it seems that objects which havok can apply to are the things that are sent drifting.

Okay, makes sense.

So what triggers the phenomenon? And why doesn't it, like, just make things jump in the air a few inches and fall back down?

And why one particular direction along the horizontal axis?

And it's not like gravity switches direction, because objects still fall to the floor, they just start moving when on the floor.

Round objects move too, they don't roll, so gravity isn't changed direction (because if gravity was set to something like 170 degrees instead of 180, round objects would roll, not just move).

It's strange.

Again, not game breaking, and a quick exit-and-reload fixes it, but it's eating at my brain.

I noticed this with Estrus Chaurus, during an inn infestation.  As more eggs were produced the coefficient of friction dropped to zero. Since the inn wasn't exactly level, everything started sliding to one side, eventually falling down into Skyrim space, which is looped, so eventually a pile of eggs was falling back into the inn.  This lead me to suspect it has to do with the number of objects in an area, and keeping up with them.

Hmm... there are a lot of miscellaneous things just lying around in the worker's hut.

But there are places in the game with a lot MORE physics-enabled things moving around. One of my favorite activities is using Unrelenting Force on bookshelves, and in a room with a lot of bookshelves this can put a whole shitload of stuff flying into the air.
