oblivion crashes when i move

I have newly installed oblivion. When I start a new game it always crash when I move. No mods, I have try out Oblivion 1.0/1.2/shivering 1.2 and the unofficial patches.

also the topics in the main menu is flickering, but not in windowed mode. (maybe a clue)

I have installed it here "d:\games\oblivion".

I did also try to install it on "c:\games\oblivion"

Windows 7 SP1 Pro X64

CPU: core i7 2600K

Memory: 8GB

graphic: Radeon HD6970 CFx2

audio: Asus zonar DX

I have only one monitor

I did also reinstall windows but it did't work.

I did post this on the nexus forums but did't get any help there.

I have the same problem.

It has been suggested that if you move your "Oblivion.ini" file out of it's directory (My documents\My games\Oblivion\) to your desktop, then start the game...it will reset the problem with the game...then save and exit.

Then copy your old oblivion.ini back into it's directory overwriting the new file. Then restart the game.

I am going to try it myself tonight when I get home. If it works, I won't have to scrap my character that is 86 hours (in-game) invested.

Didn't work. But I also noticed that the game crashes when I exit it. (Esc>exit)

That's actually a vanilla problem, which occurs for (almost) everyone. Unless you install a mod which fast-quits you're going to keep that problem.

Also: Reinstalling Windows? That's a rigorous approach...  :o

hmmm....

Try setting up your oblivion to use HDR instead of Bloom or AntiAlising.

Then save and restart. See if that fixes it...

Will I never be able to try out the lovers mods? :'(

I'm sorry man. I can't play either because my game locks up as soon as I get 10 seconds into the game.

Hmmm...if you're using windows 7, you may want to make sure that your antivirus is set to NOT SCAN your game directory. My AV (AVAST 5) was causing all kinds of issues with my win-7 installation of the game.

hmmm okey, I did set avast not to scan the oblivion directory.

I can play the game now, but I still get some random crashes. I hope this will fix that.

If it doesn't fix it, disconnect your computer from the router/switch (Pull the plug) and disable AVAST 5 for either "1-hour" or "Until Pc is restarted"

When I do that I have no crashes for 4-hours straight so far. The game also runs smoother than ever with FPS never going lower than 22fps.

Of course, if I want to get on the internet I have to replug my ethernet cable and turn AVAST 5 on again.
