1. Wrong Section

2. Install the Oblivion Crash Prevention System

3. Post Load Order

4. Check for mod conflicts

5. Deactivate then activate mods by mods to find our which is causing your problem

6. Don't use steam version of the game

7. Make sure you start the game up with the latest version of OBSE

8. Why am I writing in list form.  ???

I hope this helped...

Oh yeah and make sure you have all requirements for mods as well as the Shivering Isles expansion pack.

I've done all of those things.the game consistently dies at 86-94 hours into the game.

This is my 3rd character now.

Maybe it's the way of your computer telling you to get some sleep and not play for 89-94 hours straight? :P

Unless of course you're talking about game time, then it seems like an issue with the game in general. Either a mod conflict that is causing it, or your game that you have in general is corrupt. Are you installing from the disc/steam/download? Maybe you uninstalled a mod and removed a critical part of the game on accident?

It could be many things that can cause it. Try posting your mods/load order and see if maybe we can help you figure out what the issue might be. :)

Be sure it's not that you just so happen to be reaching the same PLACE around 85 hours into the game. It could be a mod that has modded the area you're entering and has bugged out and is causing the CTD. I personally would start by deactivating every mod you could and loading the game and walking around just to see if it still crashes. If it doesn't crash, then it's most definitely a mod.

It's probably a mod.

I'm going to do as you say and try each one of the 80 or so that I have.

I just get bent out of shape thinking about losing all my kids...all my slaves...all my blood dolls...

Don't save over your game with all the mods still running, just load up the game and see if the crash gets fixed.  So long as you don't overwrite the good save, you can turn off just the broken mod and nothing else will change.

Yep it's more than likely a mod, and I'll bet that it's an OBSE mod that's causing save game data bloat.  When saves get too large, the game will simply start to crash, and crash, and crash.  Oh and crash.

I was running into the same thing with my games; everything runs great at the start but eventually the game starts crashing every time I open a door.  I have decided that my computer was just not fast enough to be running all of the mods I had going (it was a mid-range desktop two years ago).  I built a new machine and so far everything seems to be working fine (57 hours in).  Of course, I am running a lot more mods now...

If all else fails (and you are able) I would try upgrading your processor.  Most of these mods are very script intensive and when your processor can't keep up running a Gamebryo game, the game just crashes.

True story.  I can't tell you how happy I will be to not have to work with this engine any more...

You know, you're more than likely right. I haven't upgraded this pc since 2006. It's got an ASUS A8n5x motherboard and an AMD 2.4 X2 processor with 3gb of ram. I guess I'll be upgrading the mobo and Processor for fathers day instead of buying the delay pedal I wanted. Since I just ordered my new reverb pedal I can do without a new delay pedal. Especially if it means I can play Oblivion properly again.

Any suggestions for MOBO and Processsor?? Preferably under 200.00... :-[

Interesting theory, but the game scripting engine is NOTHING to do with Gambryo.

My machine runs without issue, I have 121 active esm/esp, no idea how many in the bashed patch, have a low end graphics card, 512Mb memory and a single old core processor.

Runs well with no crashes.

Well Symon, I am probably wrong.  I don't write games (though I am a programmer) I am just repeating what I have seen elsewhere.

Dreamer, if you have an AMD 2.4 GHz X2 and only run 80 mods, your processor is probably not the issue.  I run a lot more mods than that.

You should try posting your load order in the appropriate forum (http://www.loverslab.com/index.php?board=3.0).

Good guide for what hardware you really need:

Over-detailed guide to getting the most of what you have:

I was unwilling to run fewer mods, or lower my settings, so upgrading my machine fixed my problems.  But then I have 225 active ESP/ESMs (not counting those merged into the Bashed patch).

I also use the Steam version of the game, which according to some "experts" doesn't work with mods at all.

I apologize for bumping this thread in the wrong forum, I'm just trying to help a  fellow player out.

Broadly speaking, I find a combination of 1) Oblivion Stutter Remover, 2) Streamline, and 3) Hrmm Script Optimization makes the game far less crash-prone, but yeah, the game will probably still crash a fair bit.

Thanks snarfies for the heads-up on Hrmm Script Optimization, I'll try that.

Yeah, I know it's 'received wisdom' elsewhere, but it's wrong. Oblivion is pretty stable. If it crashes on you lots, it's a problem with your setup. Load order is a common culprit.

Well, I think if you can make it 85+ hours into a game before you start getting crashes load order is not the issue.  I suspect that Dreamer102 has a bad mod in there somewhere.

And, again, upgrading my processor did in fact fix my problems.  My load order hasn't changed, and my game doesn't crash.

Oblivion is stable, sure, but Oblivion + FCOM + Better Cities + Unique Landscapes + MBP + Lovers + Basic Primary Needs + OblivionXP + (lots of other mods) is just not going to work on an older computer.  I love these mods though, they turn an ok game into the best game I have ever played.

Now, if you could mod Mass Effect like this I would be in heaven.

Well, I tried using WRYE BASH to optimize my load order and crap and fix my savegames, but nothing helps. Even my new game does not work properly. I am going to strip this thing down and restart it. No mods except xLovers, unholy darkness and Tantrivaylia.

So tired of this crap...

Just make sure you get the SI-patched version - I'm not sure that's the version currently on tesnexus.

after that many Hour's is good chance it is animation bug... use wrye Bash and repair Abomb on saved game... also use wyre bash and do nvidia fix on all mods, just to be safe.

may not help , but if you have not done this, it is probablly your problem.

Thanks for the info. Turns out I had "PurgeCellBuffer" and "Streamline" running at the same time. Corrupted all my savegames due to lack of data in the buffer.
