Bloodfang

Armor won't appear on Nifskope

Hi everyone !

I apologize in advance if this question has been answered, I couldn't find a clear reply about the subject (most stuff are outdated, 2008).

when openning a body armor I get these errors you'll see attached bellow. I just wanted to know what do I have to do exactly to fix these branchs so I can see the armor and start some mix'n'match ^^

I had a similar issue with another armor but even though it worked in game I though the file was corrupted or something.

Could any expert give me a hand here? :)

Thanks!

Have you tried installing the mod's mesh folder in its default location and then opening the nif?

Hi ! Yes I tried but I got the same errors, I thought maybe it was the String Name that were bad, since like 100 of them are named like 1050505050505.

But it didn't helped either, when I saved I had less errors tho but I don't know if what I did helped or not.

I've been using nifscope since 2006 and I've never seen that error before.  If you have the mod's folders installed in the default locations then I'm stumped.  Your best bet will be to go to the SourceForge forums and post your questions there.  They are the experts. ;)

I have met with that problem few times.

Its probably caused by a " bodyslide's Outfit Studio" conversions/edits. You can fix it by importing that .nif to 3dsmax/blender and re-exporting. If that doesn't work export as .obj and import.

Yeah it will remove weights, sadly.

well I would like to, but last time I tried to use blender and open a nif file I couldn't get it to work. Same thing right now, installed Python, PiFFY(whatever name it is), Blender NIF script addon, trying to install it when using Blender and nothing. I remember now why I never used this program x)

Edit: damn.. I found a UNPB version on a chinese website but it has the same issue too :dodgy:

To open with blender you need to edit some variables in the Nif Header since Blender isn't fully compatible with Skyrim Nif.

According to this

As Blender has not yet been fully adapted to Skyrim, to be able to import the nif files into it you have to change some properties in NifSkope. Do the following:

  1. Open the body you are going to work on in NifSkope (in the example, we are using femalebody_0.nif)

First step is to edit the NiHeader settings:

  1. In the Block details section, expand the NiHeader property as shown in picture Editting the NiHeader in NifSkope

  2. You'll see that the User version property has a value of 12. Double click on the 12 and then change it to 11.

Then go to the User version 2 property, that has a value of 83. Double click on the 83 and then change it to 34.

Next step is to delete the BSLightingShaderProperty:

  1. Expand the NiTriShape node as shown in picture Deleting the BSLightingShaderProperty

  2. Select the BSLightingShaderProperty node and press Ctrl+Del or right click and select the menu option Block -> Remove Branch

Do this for all the NiTriShape nodes the mesh has (if it has more than one)

Save the modified nif file. This modified nif is the one you will be importing into Blender.

I'd make a back up of the file too btw.

Yeah I see it off and on the most recent one I have seen is the True Helena Harper in Skyrim HDT version which has device position incorrect array material name much too large array textures much too large array extra data list much too large array skin partitions much too large array bone list much too large and infinite recursive error.  Half of the stuff in the left list has scene root for the name. I know the infinite recursive error can from pasting something into a skeleton nif then saving and then trying paste what you pasted into the skeleton into a different nif.

Good thing is the other versions look fine so I will just throw the HDT version into the waste basket and then try to convert the CBBE noBBP to unp and then add TBBP to it myself later. I saw one awhile back called the mammoth lord the cuirass in that set has sooo many errors in it that it will actually lock up nifskope when it tries to list them all. Well time to start tinkering.
