Purple items?

I've been running quite a few mods and generally enjoying the new Skyrim experience I've picked out, but every so often I run into an item that's just completely purple.  I'm guessing it's a missing texture somewhere, but I've got no idea how I'd even start figuring out where the problem is.  Anyone have any easy solutions?

It can be many thing.

First it missing mesh.

you find more information about this here. http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Troubleshooting#Texture_Optimizers

The other one is the fact that your PC cant handle all textures so it cant load it.

One solution for that is simply turn of Skyrim. Turn off your PC.

Start it up again, start Skyrim. Load the save BEFORE you did get the Purple and if you dont have any Purple then you should be fine.

And as TheDude says.

You could have any error in your load order.

I've been wondering if I should extract the archives of mods that do that to me (Tera Armors, this means you), and then manually install the textures folder in my MO folder. Any thoughts about doing that? I get this thing where MO can't completely install a large file, and Tera Armors is one of those mods that gives it trouble, and sure enough, Tera Armors is the latest mod to give me this headache.

Skyrim always load lose files first since it is harder to unpack bsa files. But if you use MO and put in lose files. I cant tell you if that works.

You can open the console, click on the item or asset that is purple and note the first two digits it returns. This should tell you what mod it is by looking at your load order and finding the mod that starts with those digits. For Skyrim TESVEdit is a good program for this.

Ok, that's what I thought.  It doesn't happen often, mostly with a mod that I've since disabled, but last night I tried to make a few bondage things at the blacksmith (I'm still just starting out so I can't make much), and I know one of the early gags and a few other bindings were purple.  I'll try and get names later.

Good to know, thanks, I'll try and check that when I find something.

Trying to do this with a collar I currently have equipped.  How do I actually click on the collar, though?  Opening item inventory doesn't seem to let me click it while in console mode (it clicks whatever's behind the inventory window), and clicking on the item on myself just gives my own info, not the item's.

Edit: Ok, managed to find the item with the help console command.  It's the slut collar from Deviously Cursed Loot.
