Mod Organizer problems

I'm doing a fresh install because I've decided it's time to switch to Mod Organizer. I went ahead and installed a few essential mods that I'll be using for every profile I plan on setting up. FNIS, a few basic animations, Unofficial Patches, Pure Weathers, Pure Waters, SkyUI, SSAssist, and Pinup Poser.

Active Mod Files:

00  Skyrim.esm01  Update.esm02  Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp  [Version 2.0.8a]03  Dawnguard.esm04  Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.esp  [Version 2.0.9]05  HearthFires.esm06  Unofficial Hearthfire Patch.esp  [Version 2.0.9]07  Dragonborn.esm08  Unofficial Dragonborn Patch.esp  [Version 2.0.9]09  hdtHighHeel.esm0A  Purewaters.esp0B  SSAssist.esp0C  FNISspells.esp0D  dD - Realistic Ragdoll Force - Realistic.esp0E  Pinup Poser.esp0F  Pureweather.esp10  SkyUI.esp

This load order works perfectly fine with SKSE outside of MO. When ran with SKSE inside of MO, the game crashes while attempting to start a new game. I've made sure that all .exe's in my main Skyrim directory are set to be ran as Administrator, and that all MO "links" are pointed to .exe's in the correct location.

  1. If you didn't already, re-run FNIS from MO after setting up your mods (and move files from overwrite into a new mod at bottom of load order).

Check for conflicts in the MO mod list.

Try loading in TES5Edit lauched from MO.

Check if your Data folder is clean. (Probably not the problem because MO should overwrite if it's the same mods, but worth a try.)

I forgot to mention that the mods I listed were installed outside of MO, and done manually. I've also cleaned all .esp/.esm files that needed it.

Wait, maybe I'm not understanding correctly, but you are trying to run Skyrim from MO with those mods installed outside of MO? I'm not sure if that could work in theory, but it doesn't sound like a good idea.

You'd be better off installing the mods to the "Default" profile in MO, and then use that profile as a base to copy to new profiles where you would install additional mods and have separate saves.

Yeah, I just manually uninstalled them and now it's loading.

I'm having another issue, though. FNIS ran through MO won't recognize the animations from XP32's New Animation pack. It recognizes the base XP32 skeleton, Dragonfly, Pretty Combat/Sit animations, but not the new animation pack.

EDIT: Works fine until I install Unofficial Patches.

After watching all of Gopher's videos on MO, I was really excited to give it a try... but this experience is being a major turn-off.

No idea about the animation pack issue, as I haven't used it. Is the mod showing up in MO with nothing below in the mod list overwriting it?

I can't imagine going back to not using MO after trying it, but to each their own. The initial setup was a bit tricky (I recommend using the S.T.E.P. guide as a reference), but it saves a lot of time and frustration in the long run.

Thank ya, love. I'll do just that. I'm doing a clean install right now, then I'll go over to the boys at S.T.E.P.

I am telling you this to save you a lot of trouble down the road:

You should probably remove all the mods you installed manually, or even start from scratch again.

You can import zipped files by using the button below.

post-390982-0-55733400-1428447312_thumb.

That will allow you to remove them as easily as unchecking the box next to the mod.

Because LOOT and Tes5Edit will be checking the mods that are installed with MO, the mods outside the MO installation will be ignored.

I did the same thing and it caused me a lot of crashing and problems.

Also, be sure to run FNIS from the Mod Organizer, and create an "animation mod" with the files that are created in the "Overwrite" mod.

If you have any really specific questions or need any help, feel free to send me a PM. I will also try to check the topic periodically.

Don't do things outside of MO if you're intent on using it, at least not for Skyrim.  There are exceptions, but you've seen Gopher's series like I have, so you know about those.  I don't know of anything not mentioned in those videos that can't be installed with MO when the directory structure is set up properly.

So I found out why MO isn't recognizing the New Animation Pack from XP32. it's the file structure. I'm going to have to download each animation individually.
