DLC stuff i guess

I'm not sure how to exactly title this- but, if I have a shitload of mods installed already and I were to buy DLC like Dawnguard or Dragonborn, would they work or would I have to do a wipe and reinstall?

You'll probably need to download DLC version for some mods. Others will work just fine.

Okay, well, I bought Dawnguard and I don't seem to notice anything going wrong or crashing, but at the same time Steam says it's installed and there doesn't seem to be new content even when creating a new character... Any idea why?

It's not hard to check if you installed Dawnguard properly. Go to Skyrim launcher,  open Data Files, and you should see Dawnguard.esm on top of the list of files. I can't remember, but there should be no new content at character creation. Dawnguard starts at lvl 10 by default if i'm not mistaken.

Go into the console and search for crossbow, they were added by Dawnguard and should be fairly easy to find.

Dawnguard.esm was "enabled" but it was way at the bottom, so i moved it to the top, and now my game closes before the title screen ._.
I tried running LOOT, and it still does the thing. I also don't know how to copy/paste my load order.

If you are using NMM you can export your load order as a text file and post it here. You could use TESV Edit and run it, it should tell you what's missing. You probably need to download patches for Dawnguard tho.

Well, TESV Edit is amazing. Apparently I had dragonborn unofficial patch installed, without actually having dragonborn because I'm smart. Thank you guys for your assistance, as I was launched into a raid against master vampires when i spawned in.
