Hey folks,

i am a bit annoyed of my actual gameplay.

On the one hand i wanted to test Vilja and Inigo and their interaction. Now Inigo seems to be too strong, so i stripped him of his ebony weapons. In general i appreciate Viljas chatter and her quests but with increasing playtime i have so many quests that her quests really annoy me because they refer in the questlog to ingredients-notes etc.

Don´t get me wrong i like the world interactions of Vilja, but she and her quests a really distracting. And having more then one follower makes the game too easy and feels like beeing a follower to my followers.

I don´t like beeing a one- or two-hit to bandits or animal predators, while i have to cut or roast them ten times as much. And what is the use of SL Defeat or SD+, Death alternative etc. if you cannot be beaten or wait kneeling on the ground while your team is fighting the enemies alone. The lonely danger is imminent death or Cursed Loot events.

I want to be the humane Dragonborn which is stronger then men but can be overwhelmed by numbers and supernaturals are a threat. Without Followers or only one this is achievable but with i have to set difficulty to master and i am not the Dragonborn anymore...

So what followers, combat-overhauls and mod combinations to you suggest and/or should i stay put to one or none follower?

At the moment i use:

ASIS

Duel Combat Realism - Hardcore

SPERG

Deadly Dragons

Death Alternative

AFT

Many SL-mods

I prefer Deadly Combat to Duel personally, it makes fights short but sharp and brutal. It's very configurable as far as the stagger mechanics, blocking etc are concerned and the integrated location damage will punish you for turning your back on mages or standing out in the open when there are marauding archers about. I'd pair that with Duel Wield Parrying (and the Duel Wield Block Animation mod to go with it).

I use that very successfully with Combat Evolved and Revenge of the Enemies. That combo will make for some short sharp shocks and a fair chanceof a thorough tea bagging at your expense. Whenever there's a mix of enemy units you'll have to think a bit lively or you'll get owned, and getting routed is a regular outcome of a retreat from an oncoming gang of charging melees unless you cheese it by making for higher ground they can't reach.  And it will elevate any encounter with a named boss or bandit chief in Skyrim to often panic inducing, pant shitting levels.

They're my recommends for making combat in Skyrim a proper handful even for vets. With a big caveat - followers will always ultimately prove to be the nuclear option in this game. There's only so much you can do to make it tough  but seemingly fair for solo play before you inevitably start kicking sand in it's face. That always comes much sooner with followers in tow, imho.
